Unrelated, but with 'BigSmoke', the pacing did feel too fast and didn't explain things well. I know a first chapter isn't a info dump, but it didn't explore this world all that well.
I cant tell if your serious about Jonathan being complex he is the most straightforward "I am a brave good guy kind of guy" no moral dilemma no outrageous actions or past or motives he literally just Good.
@@skittleboi1193 I said some of this to annoy some people, but I kinda believe it. The anime kinda makes him less interesting compared to the manga. Like how he used to be a little brat, he didn't like Danny at first, or his affinity for chocolate. Also generally he kind of comes off as a normal person (in a good way) more in the Manga. Like yes, he isn't as bombastic or funny, but he does have the charm of being somewhat third realistic JoJo (personality).
@@skittleboi1193Jonathan grew up rich and had a simple childhood before Dio. He got to marry the first girl he had a crush on and died really young. The only struggle in his life was dio who was just pure evil with no gray areas or understandable motive. With all that, Jonathan only knew "good" and "evil" in their simplest most dense forms. It's absolutely normal for him to not have moral dilemma. I think what most people often forget is that yes, Jonathan is the great great grandpa and the start of everything but he never got to be a grandpa, father or an old man. All he has ever been and ever will be is a 20 year old in Victorian era with a sheltered upbringing and one purely evil enemy. İt's intended and makes sense that he is pure good. We see more complex characters after him who got to live longer, meet more people and have moral dilemmas.
I think people hate part 1 too much. Its still the worst part compared to the rest, but only in comparison. Its still enjoyable and a good start to the rest of the series
Not gonna lie part 1 was needed just for the introduction of the joestar family and dio, and maybe the stone mask mystery over all but its only important for part two and part 1 itself.
I do think Johnathan is not boring he's unique to the other jojos in that he's a true symbol of justice and heroism he made me actually cry at his death for reference I haven't cried at a single jojo death since jonathan Yes he isn't wise cracking or cigarette smoking or whatever but he is the jojo
I feel like people who say Giorno or Diavolo are bad characters have NO media literacy skills. The kind of people who call heels "bad characters" because they don't understand that's the _purpose_ of the character. Does Giorno get overshadowed by Mista or Bruno? Absolutely, but if every character was like Joseph, shit would get annoying REALLY quick. Giorno serves a role to create interesting opportunities that'll support the main cast, plus I think he's got the most interesting JoJo origin IMO. What really throws me off is when people call Diavolo a bad character. Oh ok, so the guy gifted with such supremacy they achieve a god complex, but who STILL acts entirely in secrecy out of paranoia is more interesting than fucking FUGO who's entire character trait is having a high IQ???? Sure man ok. (I'm not counting feedback here, you get my point.) Diavolo is freaking sick ok, that push and pull of anxiousness and over-confidence, his influence on everyone in Passione to the point La Squadra is terrified of him, the methodical planning and mystery surrounding him, how he serves to further the themes of fate in the story, all of THAT not even including Doppio??? Get the fuck out of here. Just because a character doesn't fit scream their every motivation or quirk doesn't make them a boring character.
fugo was carried by his backstory in the anime for me. he's genuinely so much more interesting because he sees himself as an attacker despite being a victim, not to mention the unintentional symbolism of his stand's mouth being sewn shut and constantly cleaning itself (i.e. feeling dirty)
i dont think anybody said giorno and diavolo are bad characters, just that they felt uninteresting this isnt a personal attack on you or anyone but i kinda feel like dejected to read a comment that starts off with "people have no media literacy skills" because frankly i feel like the meaning of this word is diluted at this point
The reason why so many people like kakyoin is because we’re all sad lonely little fruits with no friends who wish to be beat the shit out of by tsundere and become friends then travel across the world only to die a tragic death but glad to have had friends at all actually that just might be me-
I like Kakyoin 'cause he is chill and cold but also goofy and funny sometimes, different than an edgy asf main character that shit talks his mom or guy that gets horny while being chased by a maniac with an axe
the only reason i like him is because of how out of pocket he can be. like you don't expect kakyoin of all people to be the one engaging in polnareff's tomfoolery (the handshake scene)
i dont get why people hate on part 1. its so tense and i just love the rivalry that dio and jonathan have. the only thing issue i have with it is that the middle kinda drags
The other parts aside from 1 that doesn't count are as the guy said stands of the week format, part 2 is a coherent and dynamic adventure plus gigachad pillar bros
Joseph is not the best MC, bro is overrated asf, ye he’s cool and smart but his plot armour is just ridiculous, he beats Kars through only luck, and his character development in his own part is bad. Johnny is a better protagonist
@@DoodleZoo That’s just a bad excuse for lazy writing and isn’t even necessarily true - And a bit of plot armour is fine, as, after all, if Harry Potter died as a baby, we wouldn’t have the story. But when taken to the extreme and made the only way the story can progress without the main character dying horribly? Yeah. Bad writing.
Exactly. Jonathan was supposed to be that way. He was pretty sheltered and young. Most his descendants got to live longer, face more dilemmas, meet more people and become more complex. That doesn't mean jonathan isn't a good character. It was what the story needed in the beginning
I liked how in eyes of heaven, Diavolo just becomes invisible lol. In roblox yba was amazed how basically he is invisible+he cant be affect by any attack+he returns enemy on the place where the enemy was standing before the time skip, very fabulous representation.
also another rant just cause why not,i feel like people hate on shit cause it became op af like the only reason tusk act 4 did not get hated on like ger cause we were shown it can be countered anyways cool vid papi mwa
ofc hes a good father, when he timestopped for the final time he saved his daughter instead of saving the world, how can you be a better father than that?
Gyro didn't need to die tbh, his death didn't exactly inform Johnny on what to do or give him a reason to fight, Johnny was already set on getting the corpse parts and knew how to take out FV with the infinite rotation.
Toru or wonder of U? I liked Wonder of U as a villain, and Tooru's energy was cool, but he simply didn't feel fleshed out enough to be the main villain. Would have made a cool secondary antagonist.
That guy who said you can skip part 4 and 5 is half right half wrong imo you can 100% skip part 5 but you can not skip 4. Even then skipping 5 is kinda dicey because you don't get the dio children stuff. Part 4 though builds Jotaro who is obviously a huge part of 6.
When everything is all increasing action and escalating stakes, it can get ridiculous and eventually feel just about meaningless. Sometimes, you just need to decompress and de-escalate with a low action, low stakes story segment where characters are mostly just living their day-to-day lives.
I have a hot take: Toru was definitely a step down in quality from Funny Valentine, but he wasn't excessively bad. It's just that Funny Valentine was so good that he made Toru seem like a weaker villain
Coldest take there is: Chewiedog needs to f*cking fix his sound levels already ffs my ears hurt. Also, tf y'all hating on part 1? It's short and very funny, if you don't see the irony of part 1 - you are the ones it's making fun of.
Giorno isn’t a bad character. He’s just not as exaggerated and flamboyant as the other Joestars, so he doesn’t stand out. I know that’s a cold-ass take, but I’m just tired of people hating on my man Giorno.
yeah idk why people hate on Giorno or part 5 in general I really enjoyed it and its themes of fate are PEAK Jojo. Its anime adaptation is also the best David productions has put out imo. The gang is some of my favorite supporting cast and it had some insane stand fights like Doppio vs Risotto Nero.
I really love Kakyoin, he's my favorite character in Jojo tbh. I can understand why people thinks he's not too interesting, but that only makes me love him more. In the anime, we got to see a scene from his childhood as his life was passing by before the last Emerald Splash and the hospital scene. The Death 13-arc is my favorite-arc of Part 3. I kinda wish we got more of him and Avdol. As for Diavolo, he's the personality that Doppio developed during his childhood and there were signs of it in his backstory.
spin is one of the best power systems in fiction. but it really should have been explained better other than the whole golden ratio part how it functions at a base level isnt explained at all really and i just wish it was.
Late to the party . -Hot take : Part 4 should have really leaned more into the horror aspect than slice of life. -Plus Diavolo should have gotten a one-shot simillar to Deadmans questions.
I agree with the second one, although I’d prefer a prequel. I think the reason most people find Diavolo uninteresting is because it’s hard to flush out a character where the whole point is you’re supposed to know nothing about him. Although we did get his backstory at one point, it would’ve been more interesting to see how he built his empire and how past events built his mind set.
@@archinspide2652 True. Diavolo has always been a character that was not very well explored in the original universe which was shame. Spoiler! If you have caught up to part 9 you can see that the main character shares alot of qualities with both Diavolo and Giorno. You think Jonathan is boring and Phantom Blood is bad? You're entitled to have your own opinions, but I don't think you've got room to judge other people's tastes.
not as much of a take, but a personal statement: part 1 will always be very very dear to my heart, because it is the first part i watched (duh), it just makes me feel nostalgic and warm
That's what I'm saying! If you skip part 4 and 5 your literally missing 1/3 of Jojo (Old universe/ anime) and missing out a lot of crucial world building and over-arching themes. This is not even mentioning how you are literally missing some of peak Jojo and if you aren't interested in watching it, why tf are you even watching the series to begin with.
Phantom Blood is not the best part and Jonathan is not the best JoJo. However I owe Phantom Blood and Jonathan for getting me into the series. I like Jonathan a lot and I really do not understand the part 1 and part 2 hate. They were a breathe of fresh air to me and my whole reason for getting back into anime, which I had given up on for a while.
My hot take is that Father Pucci’s idea of heaven and how he explains it is right and I now believe the same religious idea as this goofy anime villain unironically
I listened to the Over Heaven audio book on youtube while playing terraria and it made me love Dio 5x more as well as get hyped for and understand the heaven plan when it appeared in stone ocean. After reading the part 6 manga I binged the anime with my friends and that made me appreciate part 6 even more.
Watch hamon beat but as much as like part 6. The characters had no synergy or chemistry. Like they only interact through fights and ppl like ermes and weather felt hollow until their special scenes
Part 7 was absolutely amazing for me but when valentine made his proper introduction and characters started fighting their alternate dimension selves and shit it was so insanely hard for me to read. I couldn't understand or follow any of it I completely lost track of who even belonged in in the current dimension it was that bad not to mention the brain melting scenario of "who shot johnny joestar" cause how D4C works to make that situation function is completely different from how it functions later in the arc and just has me sitting there like "wtf" like I wanna enjoy it so bad but my inability to understand it is such a handicap I can't wait for it to get animated and hopefully solve that problem.
i think he just brought wekapipo and diego from 2 different universes but i was really confused like you said you were while reading too (plus im pretty sure he covered both of them with the flag)
hot take: sbr elitists are some of the most annoying types of JoJo fans. Sbr is fantastic but they go over it's clear flaws and harass people who disagree or like other parts more
I have two pretty crazy takes. First Jonathan probably would have had the most over powered stand. Second Diego's use of the world is far better than Dio's.
I know its wrong, but for my terraria Jojo mod play through I was playing as Jonathan and got the world as my stand, so I invented the head cannon of "Jonathans World" that in some alternate reality The World was actually Jonathans stand, like how jotaro got star Platinum (Which is the same type of stand as The World). Hermit purple is kinda a lame stand ngl and is the stand of Hamon users and I can't help but feel Jonathans body and Joseph got kinda screwed out of a strong stand by learning Hamon.
@@EpicFortnitecancer Tonpetty would most likely have hermit purple requiem because of HP being the stand form of Hamon plus his foresight, so if Jonathan trained under him and strizo he could possibly get HP requiem and then all he needs to do is stab it again with an arrow.

@@skittleboi1193 He kinda had more development than Josuke,i don't say Jonathan is better character but Josuke kinda stay same...
Part 1 is like the first centimeter of upward curving on a rollercoaster
Hot take
Not gonna lie part 1 was needed just for the introduction of the joestar family and dio, and maybe the stone mask mystery over all but its only important for part two and part 1 itself.
Part 1 is great actually, and i'm inside your walls
Same, but I don’t think I live near your place inside his walls
im laughing so hard right now. by 10:07 the person says that steel ball run is trash ,but has funny valantine as his profile pic.
didnt know critikal said that on that podcast, i just really like jonathan cause he's basically kenshiro in jojo and i like kenshiro
I do think Johnathan is not boring he's unique to the other jojos in that he's a true symbol of justice and heroism he made me actually cry at his death for reference I haven't cried at a single jojo death since jonathan
Yes he isn't wise cracking or cigarette smoking or whatever but he is the jojo
i thought liking part 1 and 2 was normal... you cant change my mind theyre goated
Bro is trashing part 1, thats wrong
i feel like one of the reason i like kakyoin is the theme man
the theme hits hard
Bitch is spitting facts
Yeah the Diavolo slander is crazy
fugo was carried by his backstory in the anime for me. he's genuinely so much more interesting because he sees himself as an attacker despite being a victim, not to mention the unintentional symbolism of his stand's mouth being sewn shut and constantly cleaning itself (i.e. feeling dirty)
@@the-postal-dude real as hell
i dont think anybody said giorno and diavolo are bad characters, just that they felt uninteresting
this isnt a personal attack on you or anyone but i kinda feel like dejected to read a comment that starts off with "people have no media literacy skills" because frankly i feel like the meaning of this word is diluted at this point
The reason why so many people like kakyoin is because we’re all sad lonely little fruits with no friends who wish to be beat the shit out of by tsundere and become friends then travel across the world only to die a tragic death but glad to have had friends at all
actually that just might be me-
Also he is probably one of the most memeable characters in jojo
Most people like him because of his fanon character with a “soft” personality
I like Kakyoin 'cause he is chill and cold but also goofy and funny sometimes, different than an edgy asf main character that shit talks his mom or guy that gets horny while being chased by a maniac with an axe
the only reason i like him is because of how out of pocket he can be. like you don't expect kakyoin of all people to be the one engaging in polnareff's tomfoolery (the handshake scene)
Whenever someone says part 1 is trash... IT JUST HURTS .
they're right tho
@@hhm4480 nahhhhh
It's not that it's bad but it's definately not as good as all the parts that come after
i dont get why people hate on part 1. its so tense and i just love the rivalry that dio and jonathan have. the only thing issue i have with it is that the middle kinda drags
its just that theres not enough episodes for part 1, bro really died after like 10 episodes 😭
You had me with every comment until 4:50 when you slandered Johnathan for no reason
PART 1 IS INCREDIBLE
yes all parts of JoJo are peak
I agree, it’s very good, still the worst in my (and most people’s) opinion

Joseph is not the best MC, bro is overrated asf, ye he’s cool and smart but his plot armour is just ridiculous, he beats Kars through only luck, and his character development in his own part is bad. Johnny is a better protagonist
@@RedHotChiliPepper31almost every main character in all of fiction has plot armor
Part 1 was good to start JoJo tbh.
Not the best, but it's short and it's a pretty ok story. Again, not the best, but it's still a good read/watch.
Exactly. Jonathan was supposed to be that way. He was pretty sheltered and young. Most his descendants got to live longer, face more dilemmas, meet more people and become more complex. That doesn't mean jonathan isn't a good character. It was what the story needed in the beginning
King Crimson explained easily: the user can see 10 seconds into the future and skip those 10 seconds while moving to get into a good position
missing a few things like how he cant interact with other people and how he cant get affected by anything in those 10 seconds but that about right

I liked how in eyes of heaven, Diavolo just becomes invisible lol. In roblox yba was amazed how basically he is invisible+he cant be affect by any attack+he returns enemy on the place where the enemy was standing before the time skip, very fabulous representation.
If you skip part 4 and 5, you'll see people get stabbed by an arrow shard and have no clue why it gives stands..
But then the whole deal section with valentine could not have happened
I think part 1 is necessary, if you look at it as part 2's prolog, it makes both better imo

ofc hes a good father, when he timestopped for the final time he saved his daughter instead of saving the world, how can you be a better father than that?
There should be no hot takes, everything in JoJo is amazing and everything about it.
I want a part two of this so bad, give it one part per part of Jojo give it 9 parts
Gyro didn't need to die tbh, his death didn't exactly inform Johnny on what to do or give him a reason to fight, Johnny was already set on getting the corpse parts and knew how to take out FV with the infinite rotation.
Small thing but Okuyasu's dad didn't have a regenerative stand, that was his flesh bud, I believe
part 1 is the worst jojo part but that doesn't make it bad by any means, it's still great, it just cant compare to the other parts

Read the part again, with the knowledge you have now.
King crimson becomes super simple when u start to think of it as "Jumpcut, the stand"
I still stand by the part 4 take...
because slice of life is my favourite genre 😀
When everything is all increasing action and escalating stakes, it can get ridiculous and eventually feel just about meaningless. Sometimes, you just need to decompress and de-escalate with a low action, low stakes story segment where characters are mostly just living their day-to-day lives.
Part 1 is the shit ma boy Johnathan finna serve you a plate of commupance
Avdol should have survived given he pretty much got killed twice.
Is it a hot take to think that on some level, Speedwagon wanted to put his Polneraff inside Jonathan’s Wammu?
I just rewatched part1 and I love it.
I have a hot take: Toru was definitely a step down in quality from Funny Valentine, but he wasn't excessively bad. It's just that Funny Valentine was so good that he made Toru seem like a weaker villain
Idk if this is a hot take but part 5 and 6 have the best minor villain fights.
Coldest take there is: Chewiedog needs to f*cking fix his sound levels already ffs my ears hurt.
Also, tf y'all hating on part 1? It's short and very funny, if you don't see the irony of part 1 - you are the ones it's making fun of.
Part one is (like 100%) the worst part , BUT, that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

What do you mean with The nijimura dad has a regeneration stand? The regeneration comes from the fusion of his and DIO's cells
It's really not one of the best power systems in fiction
i have a hot take :people should enjoy what they like and ppl shouldnt judge
seeing my own take called a trash take kinda hurt ngl
what was your take lmao 🤣
I feel like similar to part 8 this part will be an inversion or a more heroic retelling of the original universes antagonist.

if you skip part 4-5 you miss the whole arrow plotline nd so much worldbuilding like curses nd physical stands

However I owe Phantom Blood and Jonathan for getting me into the series. I like Jonathan a lot and I really do not understand the part 1 and part 2 hate. They were a breathe of fresh air to me and my whole reason for getting back into anime, which I had given up on for a while.
Yeah, Diavolo by himself is just a discount store Dio, let's be real. The split personality thing with Doppio is what actually gives him depth.

Part 6 us actually pretty good, people just simply don't understand what the heaven plan was and how fate is a real thing in jojo

@@Dr.HooWho which one or both?
I know its wrong, but for my terraria Jojo mod play through I was playing as Jonathan and got the world as my stand, so I invented the head cannon of "Jonathans World" that in some alternate reality The World was actually Jonathans stand, like how jotaro got star Platinum (Which is the same type of stand as The World).
