Honestly, I'm kind of pleasantly surprised about Unsane's take on Brink of War. The most common way I've seen and played the game using the first 'arc' was to play it with just Gathering Storm, Rebel vs Imperium, and play with 'goals' but not 'takeovers'. Anyways, great vid and discussion!
@@LegendaryTactics I would recommend at 2-4 players either getting Dune conquest (the version using the movie stills as it’s designed to be played at a lower player count) or playing without alliances. It is a game that shines with 4-6 with 6 being the best. But please give dune conquest a try at your mentioned player count!
Thank you for answering! The game isn't directly related to the conversation, but I needed something for the background because Unsane didn't have a webcam :)
I haven't tried jump drive yet, but in my experience, roll for the Galaxy is a different game with mechanical and thematic similarities. Like a different spin on the same concept
For me all those statements are true. I love RFTG, I like Roll and JD, and they do not measure up! I highly recommend using JD as the gateway to RFTG. Roll is a different animal. Someone who is more into dice games than card games will surely much prefer Roll, and may even love it.
Bit late to the party but yeah its great, I got the game having played it once or twice over a decade ago and used the App to relearn how to play it, now I constantly play games while waiting for the bus or so on. Not played any of the expansions yet, getting my local group hooked onto the base game first.
I have, only one session though. It was alright but it didn't hook me. Theme quite bland/lifeless, too much text/not enough symbols, and too deck-builder-y. It hit none of the things I love about Race! I may give it a second chance though, as I think I may just need to plow through it a bit more.
@@unsane604 it is a deck builder to be sure. But the combos you can build are insane; it's a different card combo feeling than Race but I love both of them for the card combos you can make.
Always wanted a high level podcast about race. Love learning about the game
We're looking to do a sequel to this one! Stay tuned!
I, on the other hand, am looking for a detailed strategy guide for beginners.

Great discussion - thank you @unsane604 and LT - I haven't played race for a while but after this interview I'm excited to get a few games in soon!
Glad it inspired you! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thanks for the great video! It’s so valuable getting an in-depth strategy discussion of Race with someone who really knows their stuff 😊
You're welcome! Glad you like it!
Great, one of the best podcasts I've ever listened to about Race for the Galaxy,
Keep doing boyzzz, 🙏🏻🎉
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you! It was great to speak with him!
The passion Unsane has for this game mirrors how I feel about dune classic (gf9 2019 not to be confused with dune imperium).
Yes, that's a game we've been a bit hesitant to tackle, but I have a feeling we'd enjoy it if we did. How does it play at a 3 player count?

Sorry for the novice question. But what software are you using for this game in digital format in the video?
It's the Race for the Galaxy app. Available on iOS, Android, Steam.
I was using the steam version there.

Oh wow thank you! I didn't know there was also a digital version to purchase as well
It's a great digital version. I play more on BGA though. Thanks for the tips! Wow 5000 plays!!
If someone loves RftG, would they also like Roll for the Galaxy and/or Jump Drive, or is it a case of those two not measuring up?

Playing on your phone is a great way to learn and try out different strategies
Seems like Unsane might like Slay the Spire because he gets to build his deck as he goes and adapt to it. Curious if he has tried it?

Yeah I'm about 1000 plays deep into Race. Slay the Spire didn't grab me.
@@within_grace fair enough; to each their own.
@@gregoryc.pyperjr.4147 I'm all about combos, that sounds good!
