Haha crazy, I simply worked on myself and realized that all the meditations made me understand that I have to live in the now and see things objectively, no judgment. Basically killing anxiety and emotional reactions, made me forget about my ego, feeling like a big part of something, observing a lot more. This was a month ago and that was two days in an a crazy state, absolute peace of mind, happiness and creativity. I was honestly sad after it ended wanted it to last, never felt that way. Wrote everything down, focusing on learning about it more. Well and now I am here.

Dude. Same exact journey as you. I've been ebbing and flowing with this... my anxieties are essentially gone but I can feel when I'm out of flow or in a 'Beta' state. I guess being in flow is like being in 'Alpha'... Have to influence the mind-body or our emotions, and the best way to do that is thru the subconscious which is basically right before you fall asleep and immediately upon waking up... I'm still learning and I love it.

I am not an athlete or artist, nor do I do anything extreme. I’m a paraprofessional and teaching a child with autism and watching them learn and succeed is what gets me into that flow state. It’s the concentrated one-on-one time and seeing them respond that gets my brain fired on all cylinders, the ideas flow with ease, and the pure excitement and joy I feel with even one small success is everything to me! Sometimes I tear up. I don’t know, it’s indescribable really. I find my flow in doing what I love.

If that's what it means to be "in flow" I'll pass. I'll take caring for others above stepping all over them to get what I want every day of the week. This has blown my mind !!!! I accidentally found you !There are no accidents !
I have discovered how to put my clients into flow ... with an energy technique ! head and neck work combined . That produces all the effects that you are talking about and more !!! But could not figure out how to describe it !!! But you just did .
It came naturally to me because i discovered that when I work I'm in flow the whole time I'm practicing !!! Iv spent more time in flow some days than not !! I started out in Massage and quickly realized my technique around the head was really all I needed . And was putting people quickly in the deep now !!! And the benefits my clients where experiencing !! Mind blowing !! That being said I became very dis interested in massaging the body , it felt good but was not the reason people came to me . , and became the focus of my work !!
I'm a master energy practitioner, but live in Alaska in a town that was not ready for what I was doing !! So Massge kinda paid my bills !!
I became more and more frustrated !! With the massage label... and box it put me in .
Reiki is the practice that I was useing for the energy bump in my work . But with every session , and there have now been in the hundreds, now
My self being in flow state for an hour and a half , while having my clients there as well !! Of course I was honing my skill . And clients where staying in flow longer and deeper after treatments!! With even greater results ! No matter what issues they are having . Spiritual , mental, emotional , or physical!!!
I just recently stopped doing Massge ... or calling what I do Massge . And the term reiki although my frequency of choice . Has become so popular and hence distorted .. in the application . That I'm not even sure I want to lead with that any more . As when you do a large body of work , as I have . You morf into your own style.
All that being said . After a long break . I'm coming back to my work ! And the only thing I could think to call it was flow !!! ( never having heard of what , you have been doing) till this morning
Its like assisted meditation!! I explain it's like laying down and experiencing a state of master level meditation !! For an hour and a half !!! , you can tell people the benefits of meditation ... and how important it can be . Most people then would tell me how all there attempts have failed . And how they don't stick to it . Or go deep.
But being able to experience what it feels like to be in that state.. physically , for the first time ... is extremely motivating ..the missing link !! It's been an amazing body of work . And now that's all I'm going to be doing moving forward !!
It's funny that you talk about sports, I had golfers !! That would not play tournaments , with out a session first and it really improved the game .
Also kicked side effects of chemotherapy treatments ! Completely!! Shifts mental emotional , blocks , mood disorders ...pain relief . The list goes on !!
Thank you .. for this research !! It makes so much sense .. and explains !! A very abstract concept !!
    🙌
Id love to work on your neck !!
    Lol no seriously 🤗

Being flow state is so cool. Steve did mention that because of this simultaneous activation of the 5 neurotransmitters it produces a fatigue that must be realized in order to recover properly. I think learning mindfulness (Einstein time and being in the moment exclusively) is the real key because it's the foundation of flow. Mindfulness is actually the result of meditation, but not necessarily sitting meditation, and there are several types of meditation. Getting the brain into a theta-alpha frequency of relaxed state is key, in my opinion.

@@strionic770 We mostly teach people with a Flow Art called Poi. Poi is a sort of skill based dance you can do using balls in socks or balls on the end of rope tethers. We start by teaching multiple basic moves, then people just dance to music with them. You have to get the moves down smoothly though, and it's better if you go slower or in time with the music to achieve flowstate in the beginning. You can find plenty of guides here on youtube, start simple and there's other flow arts as well you can look up. For example I do "Dragon Staff" and "Contact Staff".

Flow is where we are in the Observer Position.
If we are watching the mind from a Super-position, the mind will be much quieter and clear.

This dude's lying out his ass 100%. At least when he's talking about his life. How does somebody take 4 months off and have money to continue action sports... This man has probably not broken a single bone in his body and just read a lot of action sports articles. Coming from me myself who has broken a lot of things both of my legs twice I can barely walk. It has caused me even further issues into my spine I have a crushed vertebrae from my legs being uneven due to the breakage.... If What this man was saying is true he would have no money to buy food... This man is a fraud like most journalists they're really good liars and really good at copying everyone else's work and trying to pretend it's their own.

I was able to make plays without much "thinking" that surprised myself. When re-watching some of my great moments on film they seem much faster to the normal eye. In basketball, being in the zone feels like water. I said that in high school 2009! Water to me = flow state. Thank you, much Love.

This has definitely sparked my interest! I attended a spiritual retreat this past weekend. I am in process of reinventing my being after a tragic life altering incident 5 years ago. I have learned many life lessons over the past five years. Today I have a positive attitude for possibilities, and have the opportunity to become the best possible me.

Intuitively connecting, being in the flow, being in the zone, the pocket he mentioned....its all the same thing. This is where time distorts. It can fold in on itself or we can lose big chunks of it. When doing art, sports, business people can get into the flow. This is where we disconnect from our conscious reality and go into the subconscious, almost a dream like state or a working meditation of sorts. Repetitive programming works in conjunction with music for me. The more repetition, when the music begins will take you into it easier every time. Suppose any sensory input would work maybe a scent or visual or tactile sense but repetition is key. I would imagine that the dream like state be in a certain brainwave format that we can be trained into. So if its theta in that dreamlike state maybe we start with alpha then beta then into theta. I dont know the differing levels but u get the point. In this state is where tru magic occurs. This is where inventions, inspirations, higher knowledge comes from. I believe Nicola Tesla was using this regularly in conjunction with his erratic sleep habits. Just love this topic, thx for video.

I first figured this out back in 1984-86 or so before that book flow came out. Because I have the most self-objective personality type. For example, I went to the library to study and it seemed like an hour or two went by and I had not studied but the lights in the library were flashing I had been there 14 hours and vaguely remember going to the bathroom and getting a drink that’s it. I had all these piles of books around me and wasn’t even trying.
I knew this was unusual and completely disastrous if you wanted to get good grades. So I knew I would figure out so many things. Like every time I speak with someone they use my ideas: not sometimes, every time. I just looked out on the world as I am and I did not understand how differently I viewed things. Even now, I can talk to anyone in any field and advance that field. I discovered flow, and even before “mindfulness” I noticed that most people don’t question or know what they are doing-before Ellen Langers book. That was also synchronistic.
All along the way this kept happening. In 1988 I saw that glial cells in the brain could solve some paradoxes of what I knew about meaning and brain science (I taught myself neuroscience in a few weeks of flow learning). Now they are actual named paradoxes “the Hard Problem” and “the binding problem” it took years for them to be named but I had long-since been looking for solutions and glial cells fit-but only if you consider the actual physical appearance of the brain as a paradox because the neurons make the spacetime stuff and the glial cells look more like the “outside time” mechanisms for the meaning. I wrote papers and books on this stuff but it was so advanced my papers were rejected because they had “no original research” which was frustrating because I was trying to start a field of research. I noticed academics did not have a problem being on time. I literally cannot be on time and it seems as inaccessible an ability to me as flapping my arms and flying like a bird. I can be on time for stretches, if I use drugs and yell at people not to talk to me, and use apps for every tiny component of getting ready which is exhausting and feels like trying to stand up on a Yoga Ball. So OH MY GOD THANK YOU!!! I Used to nearly flunk out of school because I would be connecting things in my mind instead of taking notes for a distracting “test” etc. but I would get the highest grades on finals. So yeah that’s why I figured out what flow was when I was a psychology major. I am also a polymath and read physics non-stop as well-especially spacetime time warps and black holes my favorite! So yeah I left graduate school because the professors were wrong and people would say “why didn’t you try to work with someone else?” And that was especially frustrating. Such a backward mindset. There were no professors who I didn’t consider as definitely and logically wrong. Just being honest not self-aggrandizing. It’s like everything is set up for beheading society by too much structure, order, and ossification. In my mind “order” includes motion-like a circulatory system and human motion. Seems obvious… properly organized harmonious motion of a mind aligned with the findings of science and every other field of human inquiry. It actually starts to become supernatural at some point no even joking-like “Samadhi” or “Nirvana” because of thinking and stuff happening. 😳 Right now I am finishing up a book which will completely change the whole way people look at the universe and themselves. I actually know what gravity is. I keep trying to talk to people who eventually get parts of the theories like Donald Hoffman and Kip Thorne-but they don’t understand even though their stuff is clearly in my first book 20 years ago. Also Jordan Peterson. He still uses my example of building linguistic meaning and other stuff in his lectures 20 years later. Although he doesn’t know the full implications. So yeah here I am in Silicon Valley and no one listens to me or knows me. When I built my first computer back in 1980-81 and taught myself programming, the first thing I did was try to make AI… lol. Now I literally could advance any company or field because I know things about the nature of knowledge and the universe no one understands. This is why people don’t know what I can do. They can’t understand because of their schooling. Over the years that has been a pet project of mine. How to change school systems. My normal state is “flow” and it’s not a picnic. 10 minutes before work a conversation or experience can throw me into a half-hour flow state that literally feels like a minute or two-but actually my time sense goes away: I figured out what that is and why too. I left graduate school in behavioral neuroscience and evolutionary psychology at Emory University after 4 years to write my own book but I learned 10x as much as any PhD before graduate school that’s for sure. I was asking and answering questions no one knew to ask. I wrote an 80-page paper on glial cells as a possible retrograde messenger vector for memory by reviewing all the literature on Korsakoffs disease. They failed me by 1/4 if 1 point because they rejected my topic 4x because it was unconventional and because I was assuming that glial cells had a role and back then it was definitely not considered. How come I am always right and always anticipate or instigate these new things? Because I am a “flow master” 😂-like the exhaust systems for cars, 😂 Me have sense of humor! Probably why I am still alive after making it through. Although I do live in my car now and I have for the past 3 years while writing this revolution… seriously though thanks for this message and video!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

The flow state is a bridge toward more profound states and therefore, even more fundamental insights on living. The Kamakazi pilots used "flow" during suicide missions, flow states are probably used by mass murderers. On some level the talk is interesting and informative, but it's a bit like learning yoga so you can be a more efficient prison guard, or kabbala so you can land a sexier mate. There's a disconnect with the millennia long methods which have systematized flow/awareness/consciousness with their milieu of karma, suffering, rebirth and liberation. Having the defense department zap your brain so you can murder more people efficiently for corporations ignores the karmic effects of such actions and therefore will perturb a psyche (ie drone pilots suffer from PTSD, despite consistently working in a video game like flow state.) The same goes for mindfulness in the boardroom, so you can more clearly and effectively launch an attack on a developing country's bonds. Essentially, there is some level of excitement here, and the karmically chaotic applications merely prove how immature many westerners are regarding the power of their mind/body/awareness. Enamoring yourself with certain states will lead you to attachment, insights into awareness/consciousness are like a blossoming flower- here, they've taken a living process, dried and pressed it to carry around as a keepsake. Move beyond flow/awareness, allow the process to unfold, and perhaps the idea of settling for becoming a billionaire or successful fighter pilot will seem like small potatoes compared to enlightenment/liberation from illusion/suffering.

Thanks in part to this information I tried something. I tried to learn about juggling. At first I got the basic ideas of the techniques with balls, but after watching this video I decided I wanted a slight element of danger to heighten my focus. It was time to learn to juggle with knives. I also had a bit of a hypothesis that going back and forth between fundamentals of technique and the edge of my skills would be worth trying. I almost envision it like the learning or the skill acquisition process as a pendulum going to the edges of my skill then back to the fundamentals. A fundamental in this situation would be just tossing one knife from hand to hand. Overall, I went from barely being able to juggle two balls to being able to juggle three knives in under two hours. I am very appreciative that information like this is out there.
    Sincerely, thank you.
Also, I am aware that juggling knives fits squarely into the category of "Do not try this at home". So, yeah, please don't let this information influence you to do something stupid.

I have to make a clarification. Flow is a new term, about an old idea. The Japanese have the term Mushin, meaning ‘no mind’, for all intents and purposes indistinguishable from Flow. To learn more read the work of Japanese scholar D. T. Suzuki. Mushin is the state realized usually by masters, in all fields and has been discussed at length in regards to the samurai. Even with the advent of the term Mushin it may have been an old idea, as it arises from the philosophy of zen, real zen, not ikea zen.
While it is an important concept to explore, what Kotler (and others) is doing is an old trick. He has taken an ancient idea created in Asian Culture and rebranded it for ignorant western audiences. (While Yuval Noah Hariri views it from a somewhat new angle his concept of ‘inter-subjectivity’ explores in Homo Sapiens originates in Hindu philosophy, yet nowhere does he make the connection.)
We’ve been doing it since the beginning of the advent of the term ‘Western’.

I experienced the flow in different ways. One is musically, physically and visually. To harnest that you have to sit still and bring a state of inspiration without having to create anything. I feel like my view is inverted.. for example in a game I'm aware of everyone's position and the geometry of everything even the spin of the ball so it feels like your intuitively move in the present. Its takes a few seconds for the mind to interpret and signal the next move... but there is also another type of connection that cuts that time in half.. I just call it the energy body.
Yet it could be as simple as leaving behind doubt.

You could be studying Zen w/ Alan Watts on RUclips. Or listening to Mckenna rhapsodize about how the plants are mother nature's plan to save us from our Ego. And The Ego, is what I would venture is keeping us from feeling this "flow state" or a "shutting off of the default mode network".
Anyway, Mother nature------ she didn't plan for this to fail right? What is natural---- is that things will naturally go on like they have. Everything is perfect. Everything is right as it should be. There hasn't been one single mistake in this entire universe. When you don't force things, and you 'go with' the river and you go with the 'flow' of reality, it seems as though you are the river and touching all that the river touches, and no longer trapped inside of this illusion of form....

It's by distracting your thinking part of your mind. Example, when I'm doing a project, my thinking part is seeing all the mistakes. If I listen to an audio book, my thinking is focusing on the book, and my creativity is flows out.

binaural beat , music , something that distracts you enough to move you from critical thinking state to the flow state

@@1imoneyboy absolutely! Maybe that's why when people are upset/stressed, they feel better when they listen to music

Flow comes from doing fun things-which comes from highly diversified sources. It can be anything from art to sports to games to reading to music... where challenge meets ability. If there is too much challenge, we are overwhelmed. If there is too little, we are bored. The right amount of challenge leads to flow.

I’d argue the caves of Lascaux point to a much longer history.
