Got mine yesterday, Got some gravity to them. The little bags are a unique. Overall some nice upgrades that should make a pleasant tool more efficient.
James, you forgot the biggest thing about this, it's major, major bling upgrade for your plane 😀 😆 Can't imagine what one of those planes will feel like with this and the yoke upgrade, I'm betting it will kill a lot of people's desire for one of the flashier, high end planes, at least for a while.
The standard way to grip a threaded stud without ruining the threads is with two nuts locked together. Of course that means you would need to find (or make) a left-handed nut of the the right size. The existing knob can serve as the second one. Something to consider adding into the kit?
Yeah finding a left-handed thread with a crazy cut like that one would be fun. Unfortunately the new fine adjuster knob is a fine thread and wouldn't be able to be the second nut for it.
I bought a file to fit yoke years ago, so I could fit a thicker iron in one of my planes. I ended up filing and shaping it all; only to drill the hole slightly cooked 😂🤣🤦♂️ by time I reemed it out so it could pivot on the new pin and line up with the wheel, it was as sloppy as the original and I still couldnt fit the thicker iron coz I had shaped the whole thing 🤦♂️😂🤣 make sure you leave instructions to shape the part that fits into the cap iron AFTER the hole is drilled...... this was what caused some of my failure 😁
Any chance you’ll be making a larger adjustment wheels compatible with Lie Nielsen planes? After making this swap on my Stanley, it is even easier to adjust than my Lie Nielsen. Thanks!
if you want an original I would start on "the Parts Division" on facebook. facebook.com/groups/1690633051116716 my second stop would be going down the list of online sellers on WWW.HandToolFinder.com
I have not had a chance to test it on one of those yet. if the adjustment stud from a Stanley fits into it then yes. if you do ever try please let me know.
Your upgrades are very cool! The hardware on Stanley Baily planes drives me nuts, they are not a size or pitch normally available. I bought the proper pitch thread file to repair boogered up threads on my #4 adjuster wheel stud. None of my others needed it.
Would these work on an Ohio 5 1/2? I feel like if I could swap out the yolk then I could make it function much better than what they originally produced

@@WoodByWrightHowTo I did purchase the file to fit yoke. Hopefully it'll help to use the hock iron and chip breaker now. They won't work with the current yoke on my 5 1/2
This will work on a Stanley type 5 and later. It will also work fine in any of the sizes. Though with a number 2 or number 3 it might be a bit tight where the fingers fit as it's a little larger than the original wheel.
I hate the Bailey pattern plane, that knob being left handed is no help, I always have to look at the adjuster and work out which way to turn it to do what I want. Even in a well made plane there is always a half turn of backlash between going one way and the other. This knob is an improvement, but really it is just a make do fix on a basically flawed design. The smart money is with the companies like Kunz, Veritas and Stanley on their modern Sweetheart, who have reverted to Norris style adjusters.
That's a fantastic upgrade indeed, James! 😃
It's the best of them all!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Boom! You’re putting out more videos again!!! Love it
Hopefully the last of these tomorrow.

I can't wait for the Yoke vid! my order is on the way :)
that one should be tomorrow. I am editing it now.
The other way to get the stud out would be to hacksaw or file a screwdriver slot in the end.
I can hardly wait to get my kit. It will be a few weeks before I can order it, but delayed gratification makes it even more worth while.
I don't need no steenking directions! I just do it wrong a few times until I get it right! LOL!!!
That's the exact same way I do things.

Maybe some day.
Where is the best place to buy a replacement stem for a type 11 adjuster?

Hello James…
I just picked up a wood River 5 1/2 plane… will the Yoke adjuster system work on this plane?
I have not had a chance to test it on one of those yet. if the adjustment stud from a Stanley fits into it then yes. if you do ever try please let me know.
@@WoodByWrightHowTo Thanks James… will do

That is a common problem. It's nice to have the extra extension in the yoke so you can use thicker irons
Anyone know offhand what type Stanley no 4 and higher this will work on?
Also, awesome content as always! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
