My love for the Flying-V comes from an odd source. As a kid in the 70s, my mom got me "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and in the gate-fold their was art work for each song, for Bennie and The Jets it was (one or two) guitar players sporting the Flying V. Been a fan ever since. Now at 57 I don't see them as practical but ya, gonna get one anyway. lol
Great album. I was 6 when it came out, my Mum's a big fan... My reason for GASing for a V is even odder... about the same time as GYBR, MY first album, bought for me by my Grandad, was 'Remember Your A Womble' - if you're outside the UK, children's TV show. The 'band's' guitarist, Wellington Womble (Chris Spedding, apparently) played a late 60s V.
Damn good demo! I'm a metal guitarist primarily so the V fits the bill. I have the Unspired by Gibson Explorer I bought in 2020. It was near perfect out of the box and still is. I really love the pickups. The Pro Buckers are amazing pickups and they seem to cover everything.
I love mine... swapped the pups for a SD hot rod set... apparently they had some QC issues.... i guess i got lucky, mine was just about perfect out the box... thanks sweetwater!
Play mostly metal/rock. Just picked it up yesterday. Been playing non stop. I mean, it's not a 58 Korina V, but for what I paid for it, can't complain, looks great too. Playing it through Amplitube as well as clean channels.
I mean its THE rocknroll and guitar. Not LP, not explorer, not strat. So even if its more for the stage than the bedroom, its pretty awesome to have one hanging on the wall.
I agree! It is the most iconic shape, for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal for sure! Always liked the V, seen in the hands of the Schenker Brothers, of Michael Denner, Wolf Hoffman, KK Downing... And the list could go on and on... Greetings from Italy!
@@fredriksvard2603 yes, I forgot Hetfield and Hammet... ☹️ There are too many to mention... Andy Powell, Lips, Lenny Rutledge, Ragne Wahlquist, Richie Faulkner... I hope that the young kid you mentioned is into Rock, or otherwise he could end up drawing a guy with large trousers and a reversed baseball cap... A rapper... It would be really a horrible thing, if for someone this could be a rockstar too... 😬 I hope not! Greetings from Italy
i just bought a brand new epiphone sg custom which im in love with but when i bought this i seen and played this exact guitar ive made my mind up im buying this soon im going to replace pickups and im either going to put seyomour duncan saturday night special or emg active glenn tipton pickups and suggestions or input would be appreciated
Pretty cool Axe, Rich. And as usual.... great vid, and awesome playing. Keep up the great work, Brother. As for the guitar, not quite my thing. I sit most of the time when I play (even tho I'm not very good anyway LOL). So this probably isn't for me. I like to hammer out a little Rock, a little Country. A little Blues. This guitar would do it, I'm sure.... but yeah - hard to play it while sitting is also my experience.
I've only played a V once and it was donkeys years ago. Then I found it awkward sat but stood it was ok and the difficulty then was just my inexperience 🙄 I'd give it another go now though
The bridge on the kh-202 is awful it’s a Floyd rose special and will never stay in tune. If you really want a Kirk Hammett signature save up for the kh-602 it has a Floyd rose 1000 series which will almost always stay in tune and is made from more durable materials
I would’ve been driven to get one of these just based on what you copied to the beginning from the end, if I were in the market for one already. It was like an Easter egg. It would still be a somewhat easier guitar to deal with than an Explorer. The Explorer is bigger and bulkier. Also, doesn’t the V have less string tension? Everything you have to say about how awkward it is to hold from a sitting position brings to mind the Spirit by Steinberger GT Pro model which I had from March 2008 until August 2009. As per the tradition of the body shape, that included a lever for you to comfortably place it onto your thigh.
I have two Explorer style guitars, including a Gibson Explorer and interestingly enough I think they are very comfortable guitars. Most other guitars feel like small toys in comparison but I guess that's why they make them in all different shapes. I had my heart set on a Flying V until I tried to play one and there is no way it will ever work for me. Cheers!
Hello, one question, what about the balance ? I used to have one epiphone V and I hate it due to the balance of the guitar… you have to keep holding the neck to avoid the headstock go down . Thanks
@@RichBischoff ok but this is the situation with this V guitar, I have a Jackson demmelition and it is just perfect, it’s my favorite due to ergonomics, pretty light weight, well balance, thin body, and sounds like Satan itself!!! 100% recomended
Rich, Try and get your hands on a Harley Benton Victory Plus BK Vintage series V guitar with gold hardware man. I think you will be more impressed than you are with that thing.
From my experience the bridge pickup couldn't really do pinched harmonics for high gain metal, swap out the the bridge with a sh4 sh5 or l500xl and you'll be set. The neck pickup sounds really good for lead playing
This wasn't really a review. It's just a video of you playing a guitar. Maybe next time you could include build quality, things you don't like about it, if the nut is cut right, etc....
Excellent Rich Guitar, Is the fingerboard really made of Ebony? Either way, thanks for your advice, the guitar sounds amazing. Hopefully in the future your videos will come with Spanish subtitles. Greetings from Chile!!!

Wish they would release it in white.
YES! I want an off white one to pay tribute to Hetfield.
One of the best lead instrumentals I have seen on RUclips.
that colour of v reminds me of Kirk Hammett and Jimi hendrix . Love it

Finally, somebody playing the guitar in a way I can relate to. Thanks for that. :-)
Welcome!
Phenomenal playing Rich. Really enjoying your videos. Sound quality and mix is awesome.
Much appreciated!
Try holding it like a Classically trained guitarist would and the V will make more sense
I thought to myself,am I too old for a Flying V ? Who cares ? I bought this guitar today just because....
Nice, never to old!
@@RichBischoff i agree i want to get one! Rock and like roll!
Order mine a half hour ago. I’ve already got two ‘58 Korina Vs. looking forward to adding this Black & Nickel version.
It's not about age.
Either you're badass enough to pull it off or you're not, and you already know that.
Albert King played one 'til the day he died, and he lived to a ripe old age. Remember him playing with Gary Moore in the 90s smoking a pipe.

Loop jam on Rough Boy sounded great. Guitar sounds fantastic.
I’m a little stoned, but the solo is really sending me. I’m scared but love it lol
Yet another good Epiphone. Nice playing as usual Rich.
Nice ZZ Top riffs. Epiphone pick ups do a pretty convincing PAF sound
Wow! Some awesome playing there. You cover so many styles across your videos. Nice work.
these are also available in olive drab green now but we still need a all white one like zz top
Legit Flying V Noodle Fest !!
Noodley doo!
incredible demo, and the playing.. awesome, greetings from Chile

Got the Epi 1958 limited edition korina
It’s sick
This vid makes me wanna get this guitar in that olive drab color :)
_Sounds good! I’ve always wanted a Gibson version but not at the price. 🏆🎵 This sounds incredible!_
Anybody played the epiphone Korina V in comparison to this model? Thoughts?
I have two ‘58 Korinas....a 2016, and a 2020. I’ve got this Black & Nickel one on the way as we speak. Can’t wait to A/B/C them.
GREAT Playing Rich. Love it over here on Long Island, NY

I don't own an electric guitar only acoustic. So any shaped electric suits me I was even considering getting this because of how nice it looks.

Ima get one of these
i've only been playing for a year now.. I already have three axes and I just ordered this guitar. I think I am developing an issue....
Naw that's normal. When you get up to around 40... well....
Could I pry off the logo and take that metal guard off if I wanted to?
I'M HOME!! IM Glad you clarified the strap on comment lol!!
Nice, I looking for it from AMS in the kornina or green. And m not sure how to play it, I kinda want it. Just to have one
Would be cool way cool to have one!
Thank you for the review
Do you have a tutorial series? I would love to learn soloing from you.
In the works.
Just got mine in the mail today. Its gonna be a mod project
Same..... i put a SD hot rod set in it... kluson locking tuners, faber bridge, complete re-wire.... pots, switch...etc. i am really happy with it
Is that a bolt on neck, or neck through?
Albert King played the blues on a Flying V.
This made me want to buy a flying V now and I subscribed 🤘💯

It looks the business mate 😎

How does it compare to the gibson fying v , feel and sound ?

I don't like the balance on flying Vs they are awkward, and probably why I don't own one. But I do think they look cool on stage.

Is this guitar shape hard to play for beginners?
yeah, not the best choice for a beginner
do you recommend this guitar for beginners? i love it
No I probably recommend a strat. Easier to hold on your lap.
@@RichBischoff I like that you gave an honest answer here.
Nice. What are you using for your backing trax? A digitech trio plus?
How is the neck dive when standing up?
There wasn't any from what I remember.
I know it’s a stupid question but is it bigger than a tele?
Longer yes.
Nice job on this & it sounds great !!
which do you think is better, mr rich? The Flying V style, or the SG style?
I like the SG more. But that's just me.
Thinking it’s worth having one for my collection... this looks a nice one at a decent price... great review too

For any particular reason, gents?
For live use itd be fun, I cant see myself sitting around at home playing it though.
I dig.

You like a bit like Gary Moore when you play 🙂 I guess you have heard it a millions times.
Pickups in these new prophecy series guitars suck sounds nothing like a Gibson as it should and would be the first thing I'd change.
This one is not an prophecy series guitar.
