62 years old! What a freak of nature...incredible energy and power in his playing. He clearly keeps himself in tip-top physical condition and it shows.
Tommy Aldridge playing "Amphibia" (Patrick Rondat). The recording of this album (Amphibia) is a great memory ! The bass-Patrice Guers, guitars-Patrick Rondat, and drums-Tommy Aldridge, were recording live at Ferber Studios in Paris.
Power and passion! Tommy plays the drums with a melody. This man right here was my inspiration for learning double bass as a kid, and he's still inspiring to watch and hear.
Excellent observation. Cymbals placed flat are preferable. Peter Criss once said - this was before the awesome 1997 reunion tour - that his advice to young drummers was to keep everything - toms and cymbals - down because 'it will really help you later on.' I guess he was talking about posture. Modern Drummer magazine agrees with this - keeping toms down and cymbals set up no higher than one's head makes it easier to reach, and hence, to play. Also, play completely relaxed.
Tommy just fucking blows me away. Probably my favorite drummer of all time. I remember him playing for Ozzy, Whitesnake etc. Arms swinging around so fast it just looked like a blur and that big hair-do whipping about like a tornado was running over him lol! Total asskicking!
WOW keep on jamming Tommy that's why your the greatest. Right here says it all I would like to see him once again on the Yamaha Hot Red Power Recording Custom. The best set for the best drummer.... AWSOME.......
If I can play half as hard and long as that (the hair is already not even close to being an option) I will be a very happy older man. Brilliant passion and energy.
Great job, Tommy. Is that Bernhard C. standing right in front of your kit? Whoever he is he's really enjoying it. You're always an inspiration to me and I thank you for that, from one of your biggest fans. God bless.
It's Patrick Rondat. He's a French prog/metal guitarist. Best known for his work with the band Elegy and as guitarist for Jean-Michel Jarre. He even did a G3 tour in Europe and Japan with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, and Jean Michel Jarre on keys. He has released several solo discs of instrumental shred guitar and this song comes from one of those discs...Amphibia.
For people that just think hes a basher go listen to Pat Travers Tried to Believe. He can be whatever the song needs....loved him since Black Oak Arkansas.
lots of guys can play consistent...no chops is being able to do something difficult consistently being able to master the use of being ahead of a measure or behind it. Talented people like matt garstka arent just playing paradiddles that is insane talent.
Damn he's hitting those crashes so hard you can't hear the intervals. I understand this is a phone recording but damn, how could you be in the same room???
As Im only 33 , I know this man was a legend before I was born. Anybody who doesn't recognize is musically ignorant. Along with Bonham, Ward, Appice, on and on and on these guys paved the way for guys like Hoglan, Carey, Lombardo, Dette, Bostaph and all the extreme metal drummers out there and all the guys today that are using triggers. They all learned from watching these guys. Get your shit together metal heads and rockers. Some of you disappoint me with your stupidity. Speed Metal wouldn't be where it is today without INGO from Helloween but rarely is he mentioned because kids today are to busy listening to shitty djent and techno core crap. Educate yourself on the past to make informed decisions about the future. Music included.

He still does kick assssss
Every snare hit blows his hair back. I love it!
I just love Tommy’s commitment he’s playing the same as if he was performing in front of ten thousand with white snake ,it’s brilliant

I'm glad Tommy is still a great drummer, he's a legend and he earned that.

Tommy..I thank you for everything ive learned from you....You are the Ultimate Rock Drummer....
Power and passion! Tommy plays the drums with a melody. This man right here was my inspiration for learning double bass as a kid, and he's still inspiring to watch and hear.
Just blasting away! Great to see the energy, the passion that comes through in his playing. Still got the cymbals set up flat.

Been a fan since I first heard “Jim Dandy” as a kid.
badass oldschool heavy metal dramming!!!
Tommy just fucking blows me away. Probably my favorite drummer of all time. I remember him playing for Ozzy, Whitesnake etc. Arms swinging around so fast it just looked like a blur and that big hair-do whipping about like a tornado was running over him lol! Total asskicking!

Always the showman..even playing for a bunch of suits.
Ha... When I first read that, I thought it said "even playing for a bunch of sluts." ...and then I thought. "Well... That. too.."
And this is at over 60 years of age as well. Awesome.
