      @@TheMojo78I grew up watching McEnroe, Edberg and Sampras while playing D1 college tennis in the 80s and I can confidently say that none of these players had the touch that Federer had. Baseliners werenʻt able to hit with as much peace or spin compared to today’s game, which made volleying much easier. Federer is easily the best volleyer that the games has ever seen.

    2014 and that racket, I thought he started using that racket this year(2017).

    • @user-dw6kn1qm9i
      @user-dw6kn1qm9i 6 лет назад +3

      i think it was the first time he changed the racquet to headsize 97 so it was completely new model in this black colour, then it had that red paint. So this is not the black design from 2017.

    • @skylaxx
      @skylaxx 2 года назад

      in 2013 and 2014 he tried many blacked out racquets before settled with the 97 sq in. This was actually a 98 sq in racquet. A "prototype" blacked out pro staff. Very similar to Wilson pro stock H22 or blade.

    The shot at 0:53 is not human!

      It's also not a valid shot in tennis

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors 5 лет назад

      why is it not human? not like anything too difficult to execute, plus he hit down on the ball and it bounced on his court first so that was not a legal shot.

    • @cliffkavara1588
      @cliffkavara1588 7 лет назад +8

      If you look closely at the angle of Federer's racquet, he hits the ball almost straight down, it bounces on his side of the net, then the ball continues slowly in a straight line (Blocked from view by Federer) towards Filip Krajnovic (Federer's practice partner in this video). Filip waits for the ball, then hits it back to Federer. Mystery solved :)

      Joanna Firth No Joanna, he really isn't. There is any amount of bad practice here. Head not over the ball; letting the ball get too low; dropping the racquet head too much. Not many players volley to the old standards nowadays. Many players from 1940s-1989 say were far better than this.

      BACKHAND, bro.......:)

    • @lars653
      @lars653 7 лет назад +3

      With his backhand he hits it almost straight to the ground with a lot of spin, so the ball jumps forward after the bounce. If you watch closely you see he hits the shot almost purely with his wrist, it is very difficult to be able to that. But Roger does it in matches to where he hits a shot and directs it with his wrist

    • @sarahanna68
      @sarahanna68 8 лет назад +3

      so you are saying that the unit turn is not essential to teach beginners? Because I would say that is conventional.

    • @maravidal1187

      Federer is usually extremely relax at practice, when playing seriously he usually does not take any chances, that's why he makes so many mistakes in these videos.

    • @benjrborjajr170
      @benjrborjajr170 7 лет назад +8

      if you watch him play, he DOES STEP INTO the ball.. even on the most simple of all volleys.. he WOULD STEP IN. i think he doesn't do it here in practice because the balls from the other side keep on coming to him. So no time to STEP IN. But when he has the chance, he is very basic.

    • @reuelray
      @reuelray 6 лет назад

      Francis Silva I was just discussing this with a college student this evening. there was a satellite player in the area who still teaches the step to the ball technique. I kept trying to tell the youngin that the emphasis is not on the feet but on the hands. he's still going along with the old dinosaur techniques from that so-called teaching pro. I pulled up this video to show Federer in an open stance going after the ball. he reluctantly conceited. old habits die hard

    • @Vernonmartina
      @Vernonmartina 6 лет назад

      Reuel Ray the reason you step in to the ball is to cover te court better and create better angles he doesnt have to create an angle here and he knows where about the balls are coming so he is positioned fairly well so there isnt much need to step into the ball atleast thats what i think correct me if im wrong
