This piece was premiered by Ying Dong (Sheng), Chang Su (Zither) Shaojia Lv (Conductor) together with Mannheim National Theatre Orchestra May 2014. v.qq.com/x/sea...
This concert was performed by soloists Ying Dong(Sheng), Chang Su (Zither) and conductor Tao Lin, together with National Autonomous University of Mexico's Philharmonic Orchestra. The name of the piece and inspiration comes from Nan Song Dynasty famous painter Tang Li's Chinese traditional landscape painting. The composer tries the new ways of playing these two traditional Chinese instruments, and the possibilities of exploring the musicality. It is not only a mixture of Eastern and Western culture, but the true expression of the composer himself. This is just like the Chinese ancient landscape paintings, which express the philosophy or ones' inner-selves. Mr. Jia is looking for level of thoughts.
    About the instrument:
This ancient Chinese Instrument is called Sheng (笙), mainly translated to Mouth Organ. Unlike organ and harmonica or even Accordion, Sheng is the true free reed instrument. It means the signal reed can be triggered when the player plays both inhalation and exhalation.
