Chris is truly a champion for letting Nick swing in to draw despite Nick removing Chris's Consecrated Sphinx with Swords to Plowshares.

Also adds to the deception he wasn't much of a threat. The two powerhouses would have noticed with him drawing cards when they did. Letting it go away made it seem like Atemsis wasn't doing much, and that's what they wanted.
This gives me an idea to create a White+other color lifegain deck called "The Punching Bag" with some group hug characteristics. It's idea to allow others to attack the Punching Bag if they are behind. ;D

One of the few times I was happy to see the mono blue player win. He didn't hold any grudges against the cat boi, he didn't start any unnecessary conflict at the table, everyone was completely aware of what his commander does, and 2 very aggressive players were goofing off trying to murder each other instead of paying attention to the fact that the blue player had not been casting many spells the entire game. He played what felt like a perfect game, and it was kind of beautiful to watch.
Once Eric and Martin engaged in war and promptly ignored Chris even while he was starting to ramp up and draw cards I knew exactly where this game was going.

Love your videos, one change I would make is that once you show the card just played, you don’t “de-zoom” it so quickly when nothing is happening, would rather have time to read the card instead of needing to pause
Really sad we didn't get to see Marisi in action. He warps tables so much once a creature gets in, and those were some pretty huge boardstates near the end there, so I'm reasonably certain players would have died if he had Marisi and maybe one or two evasive creatures out.

Letting the mono blue player untap at every unstap was a massive mistake. The avatar of woe was cool but giving the blue player that much action was very silly.

Hey it was cool seeing a shalai deck cause I was just wondering if anyone had one of those. Also, that mono blue deck! Straight taking out someone in one swing, after playing the long game and manipulating that library to meet the commander's requirements plus blue is good for making creatures unblockable (not that he needed to make atemsis unlockable in this scenario)so that's hella good!!

Is it just me or was Eric and Martain playing a different game then Nick and Chris for most of the game?
Marisi is quickly becoming one of my favorite decks to play. I hate edh games that are just stand stills with huge boards until one person finds the card they need to win. Making everyone attack one another is very satisfying.
Seemed like Eric and Martin got a bit tunnel visioned going at each other. Chris casting Blue Sun’s Zenith and Thassa’s Intervention was a red flag with Atemsis out.
That Shalai deck was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than I thought

I play a casual EDH every Tuesday. So I make a new deck on most monday and buy the stuff from my lgs on tuesdays... Point? Everytime I finish a monday decklist and go to chill and watch youtube someones playing the same commander. Its happened 3 times in a row XD I just made Atemsis.
Yeah for EDH! I’m sadly stuck at home because of the Coronovirus so watching edh is my only fix so the moment. Thanks for all your support ;)

We all knew how the game was going to finish with Martin and Eric hitting each other while Chris always had a Cyclonic Rift from his starting hand...
Nice game! One rule mistake I noticed is that Void Winnower says players can't cast spells with even cmc. Black Sun's Zenith has a cmc of 2 until after it's been cast. When Martin casts it where x = 5, it does have a cmc of 7 on the stack, but this isn't until after he has cast it illegally.
Sam Evans Not true, x spells have the base cmc in all zones until the cast, not until after casting. Void winnower would not prevent it as long as the cmc chosen is odd
It's still absurd that blue has the best wrath in edh - completely one sided and at instant speed. Great game but somehow the rift always feels like cheating.

That Exodia win with Atemsis. XD I'm surprised that there's no equipment/aura in the list that allows Atemsis to ping from afar.
The Commander Clash shout-out was well-deserved. Was an insane game, and a great reminder of why you should *always* put in some graveyard hate.
Chris’s Atemsis deck is awesome. Would love to be able to ask him questions about it.
Dropping that awakening was a huge misplay. I don't know what it can potentially do for his golgari deck but allowing a blue player to untap at every step is just bad magic. That's kingmaking which should be a huge no-no at every table.
I was just gonna say this, giving mono blue the ability to do multiple things every turn was a huge mistake
But also he was tempted by the avatar of woe to eat all Shalai's creatures.
@egarran I guess? With awakening out there was no need to blow up the Seedborn Muse. That could have been used elsewhere.

8:53 When avatar of Woe targets the Bastion Protector in the Shalai deck, wouldn’t that not have worked? Shalai was on the battlefield giving other creatures they controlled hexproof? Or am I missing something :)
At 11:00, doesn't Polukranos prevent the damage done by the deathtouch creature (and therefore not die)? or am i missing something?
I have an Atemsis commander deck that uses cards like Hermetic Study and Sorcerer's Wand to do direct damage paired with untap effects to ping more than one player per turn. With the right card draw and card selection cards getting 6 different CMCs is easy and I can usually kill the table in the same turn.
Do you have a list for it? I'd love to see it
@@fniggl3 I built it mostly out of bulk so it could definitely have improvements but it does pretty well for me.
These guys missed and misordered a lotta triggers. Awakening is a triggered ability, which means you can stack it so that the Scooze can't remove things with that mana. Seedborn also gives you an untap in untap and then a SECOND one with awakening, and on your own turn awakening gives you double untaps as well (meaning a harder machine gun and better abuse of mana outlets)

At 11:02 polucranos shouldnt have died to a 1/1 frog. Its ability prevent damage, so deathtouch doesnt matter, it would omly become a 5/5...

Martin was not supposed to target the creature that give indestructible cause Shali's ability give your creature and you hexproof and that land says until end of turn
Edward Phillips you’re right in a normal situation, but Martin had activated his Detection Tower prior to doing so. It lets you target creatures your opponents control as though they didn’t have hexproof.

Golden rule in EDH:
Always put the pressure in the controls decks, otherwise they stays in your comfort zone, buy a lot of cards and in the end win the game. :D :D :D

Heey, the guys who overload a cyclonic rift won the game seting everyone 10 turns behind. Who would say.
In this case, the blue player had a full hand an untapped mana anyways. By the point he cast blue zuns senith and thassas intervention he had already won
@@JoshuaM141 Yeh, but i say that when he rifted, everybody had a ok board, but he set everyone back so many turns, that its pretty hard for any deck to come back after such a big set back, so he had plenty of time to assembly what he needed to finish the game while everybody was crawling back to where they where.
Like, almost every time a rift is played that is the result. I'm just pointing that its a pretty dumb card on a multiplayer format.

9:37 emaeric should get 2 untap triggers, from.Awakening and FROM Seedborn muse. He can tap his lands between those triggers to activate Shalai's ability.
14:19 doesn't he hit for 9 because of the Immortal Sun?
4:00 if what he wants to do is draw from clamp, then Nick should've used that 1 mana he spent on mentor trigger clamping the elemental since it'll die on end step anyway.
Mr_Dragon his lands were awkward. The sun grass prairie was problematic in that he had to tap for two mana in whatever phase he was using it.

Shalai is a commander that will teach your playgroup the importance of targeted removal and targeted protection

I don't think casting the Black Suns Zenith was legal because of Void Winnower. Even though he paid 7 into the X, the converted mana cost of the card itself is 2 because X equals 0.
For X spells, it's a bit funky. When searching for them, their CMC is whatever their cost is without including the X, but for purposes of the stack, they account for the X. So in this case, the CMC was 9 and worked.
@@MTGMuddstah really? Thank you for clarifying that for me because this exact scenario happened a couple years ago. My buddy had Winnower and I cast BSZ and they said I couldn't because the cmc was even.

Moral of the story: Never have mercy with the blue player
Or maybe just dont play a card that lets your oponnents untap every land they have each upkeep (awakening). What was the point of that? The Polukranos player already had more mana than the rest of the board. That card enabled the blue player to use multiple instant draw spells and mold his hand for Atemsis trigger.

Classic commander game. 2 people going at each other and wasting all their resources only to have someone else win
This game is the perfect example of why Cyclonic Rift should be banned. Rewards the player that does nothing, punishes others from playing the game, and at Instant speed. Everyone was having a good game and developing their board and one card essentially makes it all moot.
I don't think it deserves to be banned. Everyone involved in this game was laughing and having fun.
EDH shouldn't have a ban list at all. It should be left up to the playgroups to allow/not allow what cards are playable in the group.
@@Devilish420 the ban list is a guideline mostly for game stores anyway. It's needed but doesn't have to be adhered to outside of organized play
