ive spent 4 weeks getting to 3.0 maintenance dose for Saxenda, currently down 9.5% BW from initial Dr consult, fantastic product - it has changed my relationship with food and alcohol, highly recommended.
@@liahk1000 Yes, that's correct. I weighed 147 kg at my doctor's office. Alongside other health choices, like quitting alcohol, walking my dog for an hour four times a week, and investing $400 a month on Saxenda injections, I was determined to make the most of it. After four weeks, I dropped to 133 kg. Following six months (three months on Saxenda and three months on Ozempic), I haven't reached my goal of 100 kg yet, but I'm well on my way, weighing in at 111 kg this week. I was on Ozempic and switched to Saxenda. I’m finding it more effective. And the side effects are much better than Ozempic. I was so sick on Ozempic. I haven’t vomited on this once in 3 months.
I started on it at the end of May 2023. I have not suffered any side effects except when I eat a large meal, then it gave me gas and upset stomach (which is what it is supposed to do). In two months I have lost 18 lbs. It defiantly curves my appetite and stops me from binge eating, a major problem with my weight. I don't have an exercise program or changed any of my eating habits, I'm a picky eater, other than eating less during my meals.
I’ve not lost anything and I’m on week 3 dose 1.8 this week. Calorie deficit, Lots of proteins. Walking 1 mile daily. No side effects and not a single lb lost.
I believe you need to see how it works when you reach the full dose. I have had a similar experience perience but it increased as got nearer to full dose. Hope it works for you.

Hey Dr. Dan, i really appreciate your videos on weight loss medicine such as Saxenda and the like! Might i be so bold as to ask if Saxenda or any of the other weight loss medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro can be taken if a person has a Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and if not, do you have any alternative suggestions? Thank you for your time and effort!
I've just finished my 4 injection of Wegovy, but there is a nationwide shortage and i can't get the next few doses. They are looking to switch me to Saxenda so I don’t have a laps in time between when Wegovy is back in stock. What is the equivalent dose of saxenda to the 1.7mg, month 4 of Wegovy? Which is the dose that is not on backorder.
I used Saxenda from Jan to Oct 2021, and stayed on 0.6 throughout (because I was nauseous from day 1 and was too scared to titrate up) I lost 22 kg (about 50lb for the 4.5% of the planet who refuse to go metric). I kept it off for just a year before gaining 60% back. I’m not sure whether Saxenda did anything other than act as a placebo (by guilting me not to be a such a guts after spending hundreds of dollars) I’m thinking of going back on it next month
I'm on my 12th day on Saxenda but still the lowest dose of 0,6mg, mainly because I barely have any urge to eat. I eat 2 times a day tops and I am afraid to increase the dose since I don't want to starve myself. I already lost 3,5 kg in those 12 days (technicaly 13 because I experimented with the application time) which seems a bit too fast. Is it ok to stretch the dosage titration above 2 weeks? It is obviously working for me and I don't want to starve myself.
@@Carolina_girl86 Very good question. I swear it happened within 2 hours after first dose. My mom was sceptical since she thought it was too fast but actually it mimics a hormone so it really gets into your system fast. I switched to 1,2 mg after one more week when I felt the nausea feeling stopped and I got more appetite and also kept it a bit longer. 1,2 mg didn't make me nauseous and I don't remember if I got to 1,8 mg before I stopped for 8 weeks because I went on a trip to equatorial southeast Asia where I know I don't eat much anyway and I was afraid of getting some digestive issues from food which would make it a bit problematic on Saxenda (slowed processing of food) so I finished 2nd pen there and stopped. I managed to maintain my lost weight there and started again from 0,6mg after coming back. It went without issues this time and I switched to higher doses fast, I am now at 1,8mg for around 2 weeks now and I feel low profile nausea all the time. Also I think I will have to stop eating bread since it gives me heartburn. Even in small amounts. While I'm approaching the dose change a bit loosely based on how I feel and essentially to avoid not eating and loosing too much weight fast it is better to consult it with a professional. I'm going to do so on my next appointment soon.
I was on again and off again trying to loose 20 pounds. I never lost that much but I did loose some. The side effect that I had was it made me lazy. I’m not one to strike up a convo with a random stranger at the check out line or respond to a stranger ( as long as they didn’t look like a creeper). This medication made me more of an open person. So for theses reasons I took a break. Oh and as soon as I injected Instantly had a euphoric feeling which I think would be an issue for someone with an addiction problem. So yeah I’ll stick to paying attention to what I consume for now and get more work outs in.
Originally on Ozempic but due to world wide shortages had to change to Saxenda. In one month on Ozempic I lost 7.5kg. I've been on Saxenda for three weeks now, starting again with dosages 0.6 now up to 1.8 but only lost 0.5kg. I don't have any side effects like in Ozempic (mainly nausea). I'll keep taking Saxenda as losing any weight is better than nothing at all. Maybe my weight loss will increase as I get into higher dosage. 🙅♀

My doctor is currently trying to get me on saxenda. I was approved for wegovy but it has been out of stock since June 2023. I really need some help. Old arthur is setting in, I have a bakers cyst, ankles swollen, knees swollen. I'm truly worried about fluid developing around my heart and lungs. I'm not diabetic surprisingly with my weight, that's the only reason I'm not on ozempic. My A1c is good. I'm 48 years old and it's hard to lose weight. I'm praying something comes through for me soon.
If you have high blood pressure or cholesterol you might be able to get Saxenda approved. Check with your doctor about it.
Do you need to take it for life? is it manageable to keep weight loss after stopping the madicine?
For 95% of people it's not possible to maintain
@@theofficialdrdan really? so does that means that people should stay on it for life?
@@BenSimone Yup. Obesity is chronic and progressive disease requiring lifelong treatment/management.
Hi doctor, Im taking Escitalopram (antidepressant) in the morning and Quetiapine at night before bed, however when taking Quetiapine, i start thinking of sweets and eat, this really makes me struggle. My doctor offered me Saxenda, however im not sure if it will help against this Quetiapine and if it is actually ok to take it when taking psych meds.
They can for sure!
@@theofficialdrdan Whats your opinion, should Saxenda be taken before Quetiapine or after?
I can no longer get Saxenda in my area due to the shortage!! What can I do?
So ,I have been looking for Mounjaro but haven’t found any for weeks . So what I’m understand that Saxenda is daily and Victoria daily .What I’m trying to say I take Mounjaro 12.5 once a week Will that be the same as taking Saxenda n Victoza daily . I been allergic to a lot of diabetes pills since I took the radiation .Trulicity gives me UTI alot but Mounjaro no side affect .
Saxenda and victoza are not as potent but work on similar paths.
Has anyone found they have extra energy ??
Less energy atm
@francinejones2524 sorry to hear that, hopefully it will pass
is there a study about saxenda and de/increase sexual hormones on male?
No specific study. There is evidence that indirectly via weight loss and managing blood sugar can indirectly increase testosterone and sexual function
Will it be effective if you take it every 3 days?
I'd like to know this also
Probably more side effects
@@theofficialdrdan What if you did not have side effects? And if taking it every 3 days would your appetite still be less?
I lost 10% and have been on Saxenda for at least 5 yrs. I went off in January 2022 til October 2022 and maintained but started to gain so went back on. Stayed the same . Now I'm wondering if I should try a Gen 3 med? Kinda bump me over this hump?
Hi Dr Dan, saw your short on Tiktok and want to try Saxenda. Do you have any info regarding using it while breastfeeding? Im seeing info on Google saying to take caution with lactation, others saying low risk and others forbidding it altogether.
It says not to use it if you're planning in getting pregnant
@@shaunphillips6160 Prob not trying to get pregnant if breastfeeding already lol.
I personally would be leary of starting it postpartum even if suppose to be okay. Your body's just been thru a lot alrdy & time is needed to fully heal & recover. I imagine poss side effects could be greater than expected & "normally" experienced. (Not even mentioning the poss of passing it on to baby thru the milk.)
I would say no for sure if your breast feeding. Everything goes straight to the babies stomach.
I am considering to try saxenda. Can any of of give me advise? i am afraid of the side effect which is not good to my body. Is it safe? i am 164cm tall with 60kg. Wanna get rid of 8kg
im 166cm and 90kgs, my doctor advised me to use it and i am, im 3 months in and i already lost 10kgs. this medication helped me because of its side effects. I feel like i can’t digest everything, so they end up bothering me until i throw up. I keep feeling nauseous and end up throwing up before school everyday, i can’t eat everything because they might make me nauseous, and i keep feeling tired, sleepy, and i keep forgetting fast. it’s a good medication for me because i needed it buy at some point i have to stop it and from people’s experiences that once i stop it the weight come back the double, but my doctor and dietitian said not to worry if i stop it gradually with their help. Overall i suggest you ask your doctor before you try anything
Good tip is to have it before bed
I’m paying 280€/month in Italy
It cost £120 in Northern Ireland
@@liamnultywish I could buy
Me too in Ireland
Here in Australia it’s about $100 per pen, one pen lasts one week on the full dose.
