I swear people were happier back then. Most people thought it was interesting that you had a camera walking around with it. Loved the bit with the arcade. Those were the good old days!
TortureBot I know! And it's funny how everyone thought it was weird to be rolling around filming and now it's no big deal. Not only are people filming all the time but it's no longer weird to see people talking into their camera/phone as if nobody else is around.
The 80s was and will probably be always be the best time in human history to be a kid and teenager. People loved each other and had so much fun together. Movies, bond fires, cruising, and house parties was what we did. Remember when kids use to get hazed going into high school. So much fun and tradition
Now, this is what you call PURE LIFE!! This is what I ve been always craving for in my whole entire life....This seem like a fantasy for me...The vibe was incredible! It was a very different world compared right now..... Wish I was born on this era, on this fantastic decade! Wish I had experienced this as a teenager.... I envy those people who grew up or live in the 70s 80s or 90s where everything was real fun and had no social media or freaking cellphones! .. They didn't know how lucky they were.... Dude. Incredible footage... For real. All your videos... You are the ORIGINAL JOOG SQUAD.. We will see in the future how special it was to have this recorded history in REAL TIME.. Thanks..
Len, I think its time for human beings to return to the days when we could socialize. I was born in 71. Every one of your videos feels like a day taken out of my life. While I lived in Florida, it is pretty cool to see that America was on the same page from Coast to cost back then. There was plenty about the 80s that sucked while I was living it. Looking back I cant seem to remember much of the bad things. The hilarious neon fashions and how much rock music influenced everything is pretty stunning. Its sad to see the state of affairs right now as music doesn't seem to have that sort of influence anymore. Granted, I'm sure the kids today will one day revisit their lives on video. In fact, their lives are practically lived out on monitors. I think its cool as hell that you spent so much time with a video camera in hand and didn't get bored with it. I dont know if you owned it or simply borrowed or rented one. I played in a band from 1989 into 2010, with the same guys. I used to video and record everything we did and have a trunk full of footage. I really need to get around to transferring those tapes to a digital format. You are an "Analog-kid" like myself. Lived through the jump to digital which changed the world overnight. Thank you for sharing your memories with all of us. Such great times and a fun bunch of friends you had over the years. Be safe my friend and consider getting behind the Lens again. Surprised you did not go to film school or become a producer of sorts. Still time my man. Be safe.
The 70s and 80s two best decades to be a kid! Btw I was a kid in the 80s so I lived through it! Notice how people back then actually spoke to each other without any device in their hands!?!

Loved growing up in a small town. It was perfectly situated, Houston 30 miles north, and Galveston 30 miles south. Checking out the cars, hair and clothes from back then is cool as shit. Wish I had a camcorder back then to document the good old days, but was to busy partying and not giving a fuck.
Brother, I just realized you're really not too far away from Astoria, Oregon. Have you ever been? Since I was a kid, The Goonies has been on of my favourite movies and as a Brit on the other side of the pond, I've always wanted to visit that town so desperately! Stand By Me was also shot in that part of the US, another absolute classic.
when I see this makes me feel very sad for everything is happening now .. I wish the good times with family and friends and little town festivals like this one will back soon
We can be thankful we had those times. I grew up Ina small town too with a general store. Kids today won’t have what we had and memories including videos like this are what makes life worth living. The beauty of life.
People didn't see cameras nearly as much back then. Webbed one was around purple usually got kinda excited. But yeah your right no one in the video started yelling its illegal to film me, it's illegal to film me.
Back then you couldn’t spread the footage for the whole world to see, unlike now. That’s probably one of the reasons why they felt more comfortable being filmed. 😄
And unrestrained because of it. (Camera not around). People were much more inclined to do stupid/fun shit when there’s no camera there. Like skinny dip for instance.
Gotta ask, somewhere at the 4:30 range of the video, is that not the now infamous "Jack Pot Food Mart"? Your videos are fun to watch. The nostalgia is killer! Keep them coming.
A snap shot of life from back then. Brilliant. I too am a documentarian and greatly study history and this stuff is right up my alley. What days they were. The best actually.
Len Enders, I wish that Port Hadlock should have a sponsorship with Fan Expo or Comic Con at the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State to get more people and celebrities autograph/ Q and A, photo op there.
Not a single festival like this anymore. And I don't think we will see something like this for a while. At least without masks and social distancing. Life's different, thanks for this post Len!
We were planning to debut at Hadlock Days the year after this at a party in my backyard (which was right next to the festival) but we got rained out! :( :(

We lost a good portion of are manufacturing jobs 1970s-1980s.The garage sale festivals became a norm through out the 1980s.
Oh we have something like this that Happens every year for a week a July!
I wonder if there's still a festival like this in Port Hadlock these days? 🤔🤔🤔
I'm pretty sure there is but it's not nearly as big as it used to be back in those days from what I've heard
