Update to Nike the Maltipoo. I named him Nike. Nike loves to play fetch and is very smart. Nike is only about 10lbs. He just turned 1 years old. Loves treats and easy to train. Maltipoo's are an awesome breed. I called him Nike because he will start running all around the house very fast. Very funny. So I thought I am going to call you Nike because you love to run. He loves playing with my Nike tennis shoes. He is just an all around perfect dog. I'm very lucky to have him around.
Would you recommend your breeder? I'm looking for a reputable and transparent one. There seems a lot of Puppy mills out there. Thanks! Nike is adorable!
Sheila C Seymour It's so tough to find a good breeder. My parents got two puppies in 2007, and the first breeder really seemed to check out, seemed totally reputable, good references... they were Amish, and we thought even that was a plus. When we got there to pick up our Cavachon puppy, the man went into a massive barn and brought out a tiny dog crate with the whole litter in it, literally all on top of each other. We were devastated when we saw that. We wanted to grab all four and run! Of course we absolutely love our dog, but he turned out to not even be what they said he was. We were told he'd be about 12 lbs. He's 40lbs. He is a Cavapoo, not a Cavachon... he also had some major dental problems, a huge underbite that makes him look crazy. lol. We love him how he is, but we wish we would have visited the breeder first before choosing to get a puppy from them, but a lot of people make that mistake because the breeder is far from them, as ours was. We also got another puppy a few months later, our sweetheart, a 3/4 Maltese, 1/4 Shih Tzu mix, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience with that breeder. You could tell she was a good one just by the way she talked about the dogs. These were all treated like her babies, raised in her home, not in some barn in a tiny dog crate! Zoe is an absolutely wonderful dog, and I highly recommend any Maltese mix. She is so, so loving and extremely intelligent. I want to steal her every time I visit my parents! Good luck with your breeder search!
