I want to make sure I have this guy's story straight:
He started in Ukraine by providing IFAKs and medical training to Ukrainians, he then went on to become light infantry in the conflict but left to Poland and became a drone operator. After returning to Ukraine he was a drone operator in the legion but ended up resigning his post after some disagreement with the command. After resigning, while other issues were going on with his life like his relationship breaking up, and other family issues he got drunk and decided to text an enemy combatant about an alleged war crime he committed, which he didn't really commit, to make the enemy combatant upset. Some journalists came asking him about his alleged warcrimes and eventually turned the thing into a hit piece and also there was a coordinated propaganda effort with deep-fakes of him saying inflammatory things. In response to all this negative attention his friends in the legion stopped communicating with him because they believed he was actively helping the Russians.
    Is that correct?
Look, I'll be the first to say I am not fit for war, that I would crap myself and cry in real combat, but this dude's story is wild. He has a lot of excuses for everything, which I feel is worse than anything else. He left for the first time for an excuse, he left for the second time for an excuse, he made up that warcrime story being drunk as an excuse, the journalists that interviewed him were "leftists pro-russians" is another excuse. This guy is probably hated because he went over there, gave the enemy a prime propaganda piece and all he has are excuses. I think Willy was trying to be too agreeable with his point about "we all do dumb things and wouldn't you want to crap-talk the enemy," this dude was no longer in the Ukrainian military and claiming he was committing warcrimes under their flag. You really should have needled him on all his excuses especially about what he wrote to the enemy combatant.

When I was in ukraine in 2020, they passed laws designed to limit the use of russian language throughout ukraine. My russian teachers in odessa were shocked that they weren't technically allowed to use their native language when speaking to a waiter in a restaurant. And businesses were prohibited from using russian on signs or in advertising. The same thing was happening in latvia when I was there in 2018. Maybe it doesn't justify an invasion, but when people ignore this they are missing the whole picture. Russophobia is a real thing even if it sounds silly.

On both sides. So they got 1000, we got 1000 and in the middle were my family, friends. My Mom and Grandmother, I was a kid. And after a while we realised these people just want to get their kick. Some even went home on Sunday evening to Austria etc. to work from Mo-Fr. We called them weekend soldiers. They didn't give a sh*t about who they fight, civilians. They screamed in joy when civilians died when they tortured POWs etc. (This scream when US soldiers see a bomb explode).
When our military realized they are having fun here and were also stealing, murdering civilians, raping, our army didn't let them go home no more. We used them as attack groups were it was exceedingly difficult. We made use of them. And they were great fertilizer for our trees to grow. Thank you nameless adrenaline junky.

There is a difference, somewhat conveniently left out in the conversation though (to further a specific POV), between the use of civilian infra in the vicinity of front-line vs further into the country - while one would use an empty school as a military barracks in the East, the same sort of building would be an actual school with kids attending. Just wanted to point out that the "both sides" narrative is not objective - it's just that - another narrative informed by someone's - in this case Willy's - lens.

People actually think Ukraine will be a free country after the war, it wasn't b4 the war ... Some people think Iraq will be a free and safe country one day, we been there for 20 years and its worse than b4 we took out Saddam.

Willy, love your interviews but I have a nit to pic: please stop saying the US isn't living up to the Budapest Memorandum. It was never a promise to go to war on Ukraine's behalf. In diplomatic agreements that kind of thing has to be explicitly spelled out. The US helped Ukraine prepare for this since 2014, warned it was coming, condemned it totally, and has given massive support that is still increasing. We have more than lived up to our promises. I agree with you that we should do more, not because of a piece of paper, but because it's the right thing to do.

They can be quiet angry have ptsd or seem sketchy cause you’re lack of interest or care makes him your scapegoat to vent on the subject atm js

When Germany said it was going to send Ukraine the Leopard tanks I knew that there was going to be a catch somewhere regarding either spare parts or ammunition. Today turns out Germany has no ammunition for the tanks but wants to buy it from Brazil which is an ally of Russia. Nato with its toy armies was never set up to fight the type of industrial warfare going on in Ukraine.

*Rheinmetall ready to provide Ukraine with shells for Leopard tanks*
      26.01.2023
_Germany's defense company Rheinmetall can provide a large amount of ammunition for modern Leopard 2 battle tanks, which Germany and other countries will send to Ukraine._
_Rheinmetall also said it had invested and continues to invest heavily in increasing the number of employees and creating new production facilities, likely referring to the construction of a new munitions plant. "We are doing everything to support Ukraine, as well as NATO and the federal government, including with the necessary ammunition," the company said._
_According to the report, the increase in capacity will allow the company to meet the ammunition needs of both the Bundeswehr and the defense forces of other countries that have Leopard 2 tanks._

Germany has ammo but I’m sure they won’t give up what they have to give to Ukraine. I’m sure most countries in Nato don’t have large amounts surplus. Before 2022 most Nato countries wasn’t spending there required 2% of GDP on defense. Trump brought that up and thought about pulling the U.S. out of Nato since they didn’t take defense serious and just expected the U.S. to come and save them.
Now all of them are spending at or above the contractual amount of GDP. Plus giving what they can to Ukraine. Ukraine doesn’t understand that most countries don’t have the extra equipment and you shouldn’t give so much where your defense abilities suffer. Ukraine also didn’t help itself by buying military equipment before 2022. They just basically relied upon there Soviet inventory and try and develop some Ukrainian systems. Now look at them needing huge influx of weapons and are getting a mixed bag. But it’ll help them decide on which countries systems they want for the future.
Military Idustrial Complex in America and Nato countries are smaller and need employees but if it’s like America you can’t get people’s to work they rather live off what they can get from the government

@@jacqdanieles I guess you think starting and expanding a production line is like going to get bread from the store!
"German armed forces are currently facing severe shortages of ammunition, the Bundestag's commissioner for the armed forces, Eva Hoegl, revealed on Sunday. The German Army lacks certain basic personal equipment to fight a war, she shockingly noted during an interview with the Bild am Sonntag newspaper. 'Without munitions, it's all nothing,' Hoegl said. Furthermore, she called on the German administration to focus on replenishing the arms depots, particularly during the heightened security risks across the European region from the ongoing Russian offensive in Ukraine.
The total cost to fully restock the ammunition for the German Army may cost the Bundeswehr '20 billion, predicted Hoegl. She then launched a scathing attack on the German government for its inaction saying that the officials "dragged their feet on the topic [of military replenishment] for years." She focused on the sorry state of affairs among the German troops deployed elsewhere in Europe, such as in Lithuania, where she notes they conduct military drills without bulletproof jackets or proper munition.
'With sick, parental, and education leaves, many units reach the staffing level of only 60% of what they have on paper," German MP stressed.
Hoegl warned that 'without sufficient personnel, the best of weapons are of little use.' She appealed to the German government to pay attention to the needs of the armed forces and revamp the defence landscape by prioritizing and slashing the deployments and purchasing more weaponry. Earlier, a report in Business Insider claimed that the German military's stockpile of arms would last them only one or two days in case a war broke out. They even lacked ground-based IRIS-T systems."
