There is a decrease as youngsters are being descouraged to become scholars because the rulers in Arab countries don't want to have lots of scholars around as the scholars denounce whatever wrong the rulers are doing. In case of Saudi Arabia there are many scholars incarcerated in horrible conditions just because they condemned the wrong decisions taken by the shayateen rulers.

This is why there will never be any other deities in Islam. Unthinking and radical supporters of good men, create them. Praising them with no consciousness of Allah. As Sheikh Bin Baaz has relayed, when you praise someone so highly, Allah will ask you of that.
