I had a 20 inch barrel version back around 2000 and sold it but bought a 16 barrel Recon model around 2012 and love it better than the 20 inch barrel version. It has a melonite coating on the stainless steel btw. Very high quality gun. I will buy a new one when they come out with a new version. Hope they will sell replacement parts for the originals.
On mine the op rod can’t fit through the gas tube like on your, and has to go in before gas tube is fitted. This means that to get op rod connected to carrier, orient it as you show, then press in on that square button and bring carrier ahead while securing far end of op rod so it doesn’t move. Then you will have the square button engaged but still depressed. Gently tap the far end of op rod and square button will pop out like it should. Now you can put gas tube back on. It has a nub that goes through a notch and is rotated 1/4 turn just past the notch for snug and secure. Your take off hand guard to see great suggestion. Thanks.
I can see what people mean by "complexity issues" when they discuss this rifle. Really with Eugene Stoner got to remaster this design, maybe by using the AR18 as a baseline.
I recently picked up a similar late production example for an absolute steal at a local show. I believe it was most likely sold in a ban state with pistol grip removed. It has a rather odd crudely painted black wooden grip that looks to possibly be a modified FAL grip. Otherwise it’s is essentially mint. I was hoping someone might have a suggestion on where find an original replacement or if anyone has experience with modifying one of the aftermarket stoner 63 grips to fit. I know this is probably wishful thinking but any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Such a cool gun. Makes me wanna learn how to make stampings
great video. I have owned the gun since the mid '90s but could recall how to break it down. You helped tremendously
This rifle is so magnificent.

มันเป็นปืนที่ดี แต่M.16กลับได้ประมูล หน่วยซีลนิยมไช้Stonerมากกว่าเพราะการยิงที่หนักแน่น

Thanx - I've always had a difficult time aligning the op rod with the BCA...simple...one you know the 'trick' - actually NOT a trick...
Essa arma é tão bonita.

If this ever comes with a belt fed upper ill take one
You kept this one short and didn't repeat yourself. Also, no references to gaming. Sweet machine.
I have never seen the later version close up before. The early ones have a different style gas adjustment.
>casually pulls out a 553
Is it really 14/15 lbs when fully kitted with 75 round mag?
What stock are you using? Is that an RA factory folder?

I was screaming at my monitor when you forgot to press the bolt release while separating the upper from the lower. Nice video though.
Cool gun, but kind of finicky for the Jungles of Vietnam. The SEALs liked it, though. Your repertoire of unicorn guns amazes me as always.
I need one
...first time I disassembled this I cussed it out..took about an hour to get the gas piston back into the bolt...wish I'd seen this first...
could you put an frt15 trigger in it?
When TF did they make these?!
1999 thru 2010 ish
Definitely not marine proof.
