    Now just add 10000% buffering agent, and you have a large barrel of aspirin, same as the OTC version.

    You could microwave reagents to melt them if you want.. a lab microwave would be good for reagents you don't want to put in your kitchen microwave, could probably pickup a cheap used one somewhere that's in okay condition

    What happened to your Hotplate one of mine broke since I was making taxol and a drop of sulfuric acid with the funnel landed on the hotplate it gave an EO2 error temp failure and the temp went to 350 deg C :( and that was a digital one. I got a 7 by 7 hotplate /stirrer and I use other methods like adding the acid with a bigger funnel 7 times the size (glass) learned the hard way. It was 3.5 years Old.

    Good that you mentioned salicylic acids property of inducing nosebleed.
    And you really should start using proper reaction mechanisms (no offense) 😂

      @@THYZOID Ohh okay 👌 I thought maybe you may have used Sulphur chlorides.. maybe it’s just the sulphuric reacting!
      On another note.. I have know-one else to ask so I thought maybe you might be able to help or have an idea on dehydration of glacial acetic acid using polyphosphoric acid??
      I’ve found patents on metaphosphoric being used however I’m unsure whether there’s much truth to them. I know sulphuric can be dehydrated to oleum this way though!

      @@THYZOID I dried my sodium acetate in an oven but I used sodium bisulfate to produce the acetic acid, that was obviously not anhydrous. Sulfuric acid is difficult here.

    • @THYZOID
      @THYZOID  2 года назад

      Bisulfate also works if you dry it beforehand

  • @ottowalter2519
    @ottowalter2519 2 года назад

    I liked this synthesis a lot. I did it a few times 7 years ago as a trainee. I recommend you to buy a "Organikum" to improve your lab skills. The recryst. could be performed in water, if you work fast, which results in large, colorless crystals. If you change your solvent for a recryst. you should always dry your product to ensure no solubility issues. Also dumping a lot of water to form solids encloses a lot of impurities into the amorphous solid, which is formed.

      @@noodlesoup2281 You just need to distill glacial acetic acid with the addition of phosphorus pentoxide. If I remember correctly it's about 30 - 35 mg P2O5 per 100 ml acetic acid and yields are around 90 - 95%.
