Wonderful playing! The only issue for me with many of these digital vs acoustic comparisons is that the same musical piece isn't played on both instruments for the comparison. For a nice change, at least the acoustic piano was not compared to an inexpensive keyboard. Again, love the fabulous playing.
Excellent presentation. I could definitely hear the similarities in timber between the acoustic grand and the MP11se. At some point if possible it would be interesting to hear the same compositions performed on the acoustic grand and the MP-11se as an A/B comparison. Thank you for these types of videos as your talent and performances are so inspiring.
Michael, if you can stand one more of my comments on the subject, I must say the visuals of the inner workings of your grand piano add so much to the performances too: In that aspect, of the matter, the keyboard simply, cannot compete with the grand piano. There are many things that make all of your videos outstanding, my friend.
I love how you play!! I can't stop listening. There is nothing that can really replace the sound of a good acoustic. Kawai is the best. ❤ Would you mind sharing your recording techniques for recording your acoustic?
The acoustic resonates and recording it also picks up the room. Giving it a more organic feel. There is no recreating that real acoustic feeling being at its keys and feeling the airwaves feedback and vibrations of the materials. But isolate all that out and the digital technology today makes just as good a tone as the real thing, and you can have myriads of high quality tones, and you can enhance with much of that room resonance too. In addition to the physical space a grand or baby grand requires, people often don't appreciate just how LOUD and acoustic piano is. You can play as privately or as publicly as you want with a digital. Get a Kawai MP11SE and you have the actual keyboard action of a grand piano with all of the benefits of a high-quality digital.
I used to be a big acoustic piano proponent. But after discovering the world of incredible visual instruments that a digital keyboard can use through midi, I don't think I can go back. I don't have the finances for a nice Steinway or Mason and Hamlin, so midi instruments are the closest I can get to that sound and control, haha. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford one of those new Steinways with midi input. 😉
I scrolled to random parts without looking in order to do a blind test and I found it very difficult to tell them apart. I was too paranoid so kept thinking it was the digital piano even when it was the acoustic!
No other brand offered as much as what Kawai offered in the virtual tech. I’ve never been a fan of Yamahas virtual room as it only gives you like 3 or 4 options to change, and in my 25 years of playing i was member a fan of any Yakima keyboard and didn’t even liked their most expensive closed ones like the yc88!!! Kawai always puts more effort into their manufacturing and builds their keyboards out of the finest materials, while Yahama just does what engine else does to curve inflation and uses standard plastic that you even see on nords.
On the acoustic there is a different soundfield, more depth; perhaps due to the miking; in MP11 you can of course play with the stereo with, but is a very different soundfield. I guess that on the acoustic samples you use some form of additional reverb???? Those settings will very much influence the results. My conclusion is, that you did a great job....In the beginning of the video I noticed that you had the SUB alive ( the red light).......was it really on???l
you can't beat an acoustic but there is something raw about a digital and the MP11Se that has a gutsy bottom end and is always perfectly in tune which is a huge advantage
Unfortunately the quality of the action on Kawai pianos is poor compared to Yamaha and Roland. So many complaints on pianoworld forums specifically about the mp11se
@@johnforster1963 if you are thinking about buying a Kawai digital piano, please go on to pianoworld or do a bit of research to see the poor action durability
@@johnforster1963 That's pretty awesome. I hope people do their own research before spending their hard earned cash on a lemon and going with brands such as Yamaha or Roland which are known for their build quality and durability
Michael, don't second guess yourself: You should play the instrument that gives you the most pleasure. It did seem that the keyboard gave a richer sound, but it might only be my imagination. No matter which one you deliver your performances on, you bring such beauty into the world. To hear you play is only one aspect of the performance. When you add in the visuals of all your movements, while the music is being transferred from your body to the keys, then the composition is complete. Don't let others get into your head, while you play. Your subscriber numbers show that we love what you do with which ever you choose. Thank you, friend for continuing to bring such entertainment to our eyes and ears. BTW, this is the first of your videos to be interrupted with commercials being run throughout the pieces.
@@pardonmypiano, The interruptions may be what was distracting enough for me to imagine the differences between the piano and the keyboard. I am glad they will be removed. You know how much I love your performances: You could play Chopsticks, on a Marimba, and make it sound as great as Rachmaninoff. I always, eagerly, await each new video.

Thanks to videos like this, Kawai's MP-11se price keeps going up.
I feel the emotions and depth of play is highlighted on your acoustic piano more. Sounds incredible 🤗❤️🙌🎹💯🔥
Thank you, Shawn!!!😍

that would be a great idea!!!
Great Video. I have the MP11SE and love it. The sounds are very close to a grand.
I love that every sound is fully customizable! :)

Well done! I have the MP11SE and I'm pleased it kept up to the GX-6 so well. I am curious how you feel the keyboards compare for feel and expression.
Each sound wonderful in their own ways, but a savings of $74,000 sounds sweet too!
That is correct❤️ thank you for subscribing!!

I was very surprised how much better to me. The acoustic music sounded. Could it also have to do with the room or Location of the grand piano?

In Brazil the MP11se costs $7,000 dollars 😢
Some cases a digital piano can sound better if it’s out of tune and too old, i thought the kawai sounded amazing for a digital piano!
77000 is more than I paid for my flat. Now I feel poor.
:) Thanks for the comment! I've been waiting my whole life to get a brand new grand piano! Where are you from?
