  • One-owner 7549-7010 restoration. Full disassembly, evaluation, dial repair, hand repair, lots of QT-99 quartz timer action. Case disassembly & rebuild with a few tuna-specific twists.
    PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels of editing, usually none. We have zero script, no planning, basic editing, etc. Same for the sound - if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

    looking at the other original inserts that you have in stock, i'd recommend that the owner stick with what they have already. i think the wear and tear on their bezel is beautifully and evenly distributed for a watch that looks like it's been worn and loved for a long time.

    I'd love to see a video about how you clean and remove corrosion off the hands of watches.

      I didn't see a change so I put it back, honest.

      @@SpencerKleinVintageWatch I didn't either necessarily, but it is extremely sensitive audio sensing equipment that should be given the respect to reduce or eliminate noise (audio/electric/magnetic etc.) in the immediate vicinity.

      The main unit does not have any microphones and the stand is shielded. I have never had an issue. @@kevinsellsit5584

    50:40 "Quartz testers made inexpensive now" - unfortunately not. The latest Seiko Instruments QT-2400 is $8000 new. But you can only buy one if you are an authorised dealer. 😮

      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  Год назад

      Right but the non-Seiko stuff with modern electronics can be had quite cheaply. I'm sure that they'd also give more comprehensive information than the old QT's, but maybe I'm wrong.

      @@SpencerKleinVintageWatch Hi S. I haven't researched exhaustively but Horotec Flash test is about 600usd but isn't very good. That's the only cheapish one I could find on the market. Wischi do one which is not far off the Seiko price.
      Citizen used to do QT's in 70s and 80s and were virtually identical to QT77 and 99, they stopped making them.
      Casio factory rather interestingly still use a device QT1100, which in vids has a big qt1100 label on it and looks remarkably like it's a Seiko machine. In service manual pics, when available, the "Casio quartz tester" is in fact a Seiko machine. My conclusion is that the production of such machines was difficult and a limited market so Citizen and Casio came to some gentleman's closed secret Jap market agreement to let Seiko Instruments Inc do them. Infuriating trying to get info out of the Jap factories. They appear to have a secrecy code rather like the Yakuza! Best regards. 👌

    What is that clock to the left of your Seiko Quartztester? Looks like its out of an aircraft, maybe?

    • @SpencerKleinVintageWatch
      @SpencerKleinVintageWatch  Год назад

      It's a Junghans chronograph out of a WW2 german military aircraft, most likely candidates being the Me109, FW190, and i think a couple of their medium bombers. As Allied troops overran German airfields, they stripped all kinds of souvenirs from everything, and I guess the clocks were prized since they're not that rare even now. You can find them on eBay. They're nice, with a well-made Junghans movement in what is either aircraft aluminum or magnesium cases. The outer bezel rotates.
