I know it pained you to speak well of a Roadglide. The air you get with the Roadglide is smooth, and with the right windshield it creates a pocket of very little air flow right at the drrivers head. This is very notacable at slower speeds, 35-50 mph. Abover that you get a good deal of wind, but it's smooth. Love my roadglide.

I’ve had two of each and I like the road glide better as far as handling and wind management. The road glide does in fact give you more room. The handlebars on a street glide because of the fairing come back toward you a couple inches then go up, and have limited forward adjustment. The road glide bars go straight up from the clamp and can be adjusted forward significantly forward, depending on bar height and windshield height. So you get about 2” of extra room on top of the phycological room you get from the fairing being further away.

I thought I would never say that, but now I’m buying a Road Glide. I fell in love w them after I start looking for my street glide replacement. But, I still have not ridden one yet.

Riding a Road Glide long distance (several hundred miles a day) is less fatiguing. It's not so much that you feel the wind pushing the fairing on the Batwing bikes as much as you notice not fighting it on a Road Glide if you have ridden both long distance. You make more subconscious micro adjustments riding the Street Glide. I noticed not having to do that once I went on my first long ride on my Road Glide. Previous bike was an Ultra Classic. On short runs it's less noticeable IMHO.

I've been on a Street Glide since 2008 and have loved and defended them against all else ever since. That said, after having rode my cousin's Road Glide 800 miles with the same 12 apes i got on mine, I would have long put my ugly fixed fairing bias aside when they came back out. It was almost as comfortable and smooth a ride as my wife's Can-am which I came away with no backache.

I own a 2020 Police Electra Glide, 2022 Road Glide Limited. These same touring families except for differing types of the fairing. I have no complaints about HD touring bikes, except for one; Road Glide does not block wind to my hands and my both hands got really cold during the low 60s morning temperature. Both bikes came with heated hand grips as standard equipment, I could ride the Electra Glide with tactical gloves for all 4 seasons BUT I had to purchase winter gloves for my Road Glide Limited.
Each bike has unique characteristics and that is the only thing I've noticed compared to both bikes.
I love both bikes. Ride safe 🤟🏼

When I got my Road Glide and made a video on it, I stated that the fairing on the RG is further out from the rider, creating a lot more noise and that was the reason I thought the SG (I have a 2015 SG as well) was a better touring bike....and LITERALLY dozens of people lit me up for saying it, saying i was wrong, etc... They ALL state how the handlebars are affected by wind on the SG when touring....which I as well have NEVER experienced....its all the commenters stated, that the shake of the bars when passing trucks etc...... I feel like the RG allows for more AGGRESSIVE riding, as you can tell that the weight of the fairing and headlight, and stereo, are all off the bars so you get better feedback when countersteering etc.......but the SG has a much better riding bubble due to the larger footprint out front with the bigger fairing makes a better touring bike. It has a shorter reach to all the fairing controls, it has way less noise because the windscreen is at least a foot closer to the rider, it extends that rider bubble to the passenger as well. I LOVE my RG becasue I like an aggressive ride, I wear a full face helmet so the noise doesnt bother me....but when I am riding a relaxed ride with my wife, the SG is by far and away the better choice for us.

Traveling Tall, while RG & SG have the same frame, seat location, floorboard location etc., the Road Glide does afford taller riders with ape hangers to push them forward and allow a little more room in a sense. It obviously doesn't change the dimensions of the bike but if you have really long arms one might argue that the RG has more "room". As you know, you're limited with handlebar locations with a batwing.

I have enjoyed my street glide. I had T-bars installed which gives is great handling. But after a rather lengthy poker run last week, I am really looking at the RGS specials again. The wind deflection seemed better to me. Less buffet in the head. At 6'6" (tall in the torso) every bit helps.
I will agree that the Apex theme does look good. Just don't know if it's an additional $3k good.
To each there own. Just enjoy what you ride and put down miles every chance you get. Hope to get a chance to ride with out on the west coast some time.

Not uncommon to ride in 30 deg and colder when the roads are not icy. My CVO with the lowers vents closed and the upper vent open be hind my Knocks windshield is perfect. I absolutely love my 2020 Road Glide. I set out to get a Street Glide but, after testing both, bought the Road Glide. You talk about there being more air flow. Not really. The fairing design, paired with the proper height after market windshield, makes for a great “rider pocket” and great protection from the wind. Where the Road Glide shines is when a truck or large vehicle goes by, or there’s a headwind. I don’t feel it in the bars at all thanks to the frame mounted fairing.

I can't believe that you did it, but, you did, so here we go....
Yes, the shark nose fairing IS better for long distance travel and racing because it is aerodynamic and "cuts" the wind vs the wind pushing against it like on a bat fairing.
No, it isn't true that 2 headlights are better than 1 as it depends on the type of light. Indian Challenger/Pursuit has 1 headlight but has a bigger LED strip around it. Besides any LED light is better than incandescent or halogen and a adaptive head light (of any brand) is better than all of them. As far as bar shake goes, I have experienced it at over 100+, but under that there is probably something else mechanical, in your front end that would cause the shake. Apples to apples & oranges to oranges, there is a reason that most of the King of Baggers bikes are Road Glides & Challengers.
(Also why the Challengers keep winning !!!!) Street Glide vs Road Glide, Challenger/Pursuit vs Chieftain/Roadmaster, it comes down to which riding style fits you best, what your type of riding you do the most of and what bike speaks to your soul. There's no right answer, there is no wrong answer......
I'm definitely keeping watch for why a Street Glide/Chieftain is better than a Road Glide/Challenger.
P.S. I did the challenge & rode a Road Glide & a Challenger back to back.
Sorry, the Challenger is the better bike. Handling, acceleration, braking, sound & the fact you don't have to pay extra for those vent blockers, they come stock.....

The Road Glide is a far more superior motorcycle compared to a Street Glide. As far as I'm concerned there is no comparison. I love when people say well the headlight doesn't turn with the bars. So I ask do you ride a lot and of course their answer is always yes. So I then ask how many times do you actually turn the bars? One of my favorite lines to use. The fact that sport bikes that do 200 MPH should prove to you the superiority of a fixed faring. As far as I'm concerned the Street Glide is a smaller Ultra made for girls to ride. Knowledgeable riders ride Road Glides period end if sentence. By the way I ride a 2018 Road Glide Special its my second glide my 06 I retired it with 65,000 miles on it.

One thing you did not mention about the RG fairing is that when you have all of the vents open and you are going down the road the air coming through the vents create a bubble of high pressure around the rider that calm the air down from buffeting to add to the experience of the ride. At freeway speeds with my 14" windshield and the vents open it really adds to the comfort level on long rides. Oh and you still have 20 sick sheep, just one of them is no longer breathing.

I prefer the look of the Street Glide myself, especially from the seat. I don’t like the layout of the Road Glide at all. As for mirrors, both bikes have the same housings for the hand controls, the Street Glide just doesn’t have mirrors attached. Any mirror that works on a Road Glide will work on a Street Glide. Lastly, mine has three lights, which beats the two on the RG. Harley makes a light kit that gives you auxiliary lights just like on a Road King. Yes, it’s an added expense to get the kit and the lights for it, whereas the RG comes standard with the two light setup, but I think the triple lights makes it look even that much better than the Road Glide.

I'm not a fan of the road glide. Everything seems like its so far away. I would have to lean in to get to it. I also prefer the batwing fairing. The weight of it makes me feel that I have more control. Just my opinion

I could almost feel your pain! Lol Both are great bikes in there own way. We've owned both batwing and shark nose fairings and if I rode solo I would own a batwing fairing but since we ride 2up almost 100% of the time the shark nose does a better job for us. You better go show your Street Glide some love after that video

I just traded in my Ultra for a Road Glide. Getting way more wind than my batwing. Going to try a taller RG windshield. I think the RG’s snowmobile look is a lot more sporty looking than the geezer glide batwing. So was my change to keep up with the cool kids….maybe!

I completely agree with you. I have an ultra and just recently bought a road glide. The RG has a big difference in the amount of wind you have to eat. I’m not a fan of the taller windshields so I guess I will have to make it work. Once you have the correct suspension on these bike I feel they handle the same. Good luck and enjoy your rides.

Yes. Would love to hear your opinion on the street glide versus road glide.

I have to respectfully disagree with one of the points you made. On the street glide as opposed to the road glide you can't push the bars any further than the fairing. For myself I run 20" apes on my 2018 special. When I was choosing between 1 or the other it was the road glide I chose because I could get the bars forward enough so that I can enjoy My ride.

There is an issue with the vent closures in the fairing. I had a side vent and the top one repaired under warranty on my 16 RG Special and now they've done away with side ones. My top vent on my 2020 RG Special doesn't work anymore, but that's fine for now.
