- Day 3 of the @thetorianpro concluded with a bang. We saw many special moments, but the big question coming into the weekend was - will Ricky Garard be welcomed back by the crowd and the other athletes?

Always double overhand hook grip in training. Great practise to pull from for heavy cleans, it’s how we get all out members in class to practise too. Mixed grip when it starts to get heavy in comps!
IMO he should be welcomed back. That's a long road for anyone and redemption is always possible and should be available for those that seek it.

Moved to double overhand exclusively about 12 months into CrossFit previously would use mixed grip. I will also tape my thumbs and hook grip on all my deadlifts now. I find it secures my grip better and has helped me get super comfortable using hook grip in my Oly lifting. Most recent deadlift this way was a double at 190kgs
I tell you one thing with the right training I can see ricky destroying the games he's a big fast machine 🤣
Yeah, what was sad about all the other semi finals (apart from Lowlands) so far was that the stands looked empty. Only supporters largely seemed to be family and friends. Not a great sign. What is disappointing is that there is so much support for Crossfit in Australia and yet Oceana only gets three spots at the games.
Torian looks awesome. If i had unlimited funds I'd travel from Canada to watch.
I double overhand grip as much as possible with the thought in mind that I may clean that weight one day only use mixed grip for PB’s
I'm a double over hand grip! I find Over/Under makes me feel as if I'm twisting my body!
Habit is a mixed grip but since I’ve practiced overhand grip, it has improved my clean so both at the moment
Always hookgrip. In fact, I PB was with hookgrip. It’s all about that grip strength, baby😄💪🏼
Mixed grip: bicep tear. Reason: bicep is not only a flexor but also a supinator.
Ricky was likely doing a hook-grip dead-lift. Thats what we're trained to do (if we can).
Torian definitely the best to watch and the camera work was great!

I think some athletes just use the chalk as a excuse to take a rest, and don’t always need it. And those seconds costs them points.
Mixed grip for me when heavy - it's about mitigating the risks inherent in the movement.

Double hand, transfer to cleans. Maybe switch on 1 rm testing
It depends on the weight and how many reps. If I need to crank out reps, double overhand.
Hiller was completely wrong in his assessment of Tia. She is so fun to watch it is unbelievable to see how much a person is capable of. She is fully in a league of her own. Her performance dropped my jaw on more than one occasion. I think it’s great, just once you think the peak has been reached she pushes it further. Soooo Hiller…. You WRONG!
Hiller is absolutly right. CF HQ doesnt even care about her. Look at last games, when she won the final event they focused more on Annie Thorisdottir than her. Now CF HQ is betting on Mal Obrien, they need to show like the games are a competition and not just Tia's show (it is)
Hook grip on everything
Royce is a stand up guy. Good for Ricky he did his time plus I am tired of people saying he did steroids because it wasn’t it was a SARM and it wasn’t even a strong SARM so let it go and good to see people did. I do agree 110% that Torian should be able to send 5 spots. There are too many good athletes

Ricky might be “accepted” but deep down will never be trusted. Anyway, makes no difference because he has no change at the games
Unpopular opinion - and I know I'm going to cop flack for this.... Kids don't belong on the podium. We're there to celebrate the athletes and their achievements first and I kinda feel that it's odd that we do this in Oceania and (I think?) it doesn't happen elsewhere...
From memory last year the teams podium was so crowded with kids that some of the athletes themselves didn't fit up there?

Rick Gerard should NOT EVER be trusted. Forgiven 100% but not trusted. Sorry some people's standards of trust are higher than others. It only takes me one time to get burned to learn to stay away from fire. Oh well. Good luck.
