like mike s videos because he has excellent taste for combining colors
I made mine in red, white, & black in one night & I never want to take it off. It's so cozy! Thanks for the pattern.
so glad you are enjoying making them....I love to making them too....cathy@ the crochet crowd ;)
Just made one in a couple of hours. Yellow, orange and red. I absolutely love it. Thank you again for assisting all of us who are visual learners.
Hi Savannah, make sure your using a G sz hook and a 4 ply yarn for this hat these factors will effect the sz if your not ....also make sure your not adding stitches anywhere...if both these things are in check but your hat is still grower larger than it should it could be your tension (meaning your stitches may be loosen then they should).... if you this this might be the case play around with going down a hook size and see if that helps ...Cathy@The Crochet Crowd
I just love that little giggle of you hehee , I love your patterns and I am trying to trust you here since it does not look like a hat yet at all but more like a bubbly doormat heheheehe have a great day!!
Oh this is so much fun. I'm a knitter and I'm learning to crochet. This is my first project to follow a pattern. Thanks for doing a video. I'm only eight minutes in and probably off by a few stitches (because I ended on a 1 HDC instead of a 2). I may redo but may just keep going and see what happens. My problem is when I do the slip stitch and then start my first half double crochet. I think I may be doing it in the wrong place but I'm not sure. Thanks again. **hugs**
sure you can use a magic circle with this and then continue with the pattern ... cathy@ the crochet crowd :)
nope you can use any yarn you want and you can follow the hat pattren to make just a beanie and not add the flaps and braids....its totally up to you :) cathy@ the crochet crowd :)
yessssss thank you sooo much for posting this.. ive been waiting for you to make a tutorial on this.. ive watched other channels and could not follow as much as i do with you.. you make crocheting so easy for me.. keep up the good work.. i refer you to beginners every time! love you love you love you!! =)
Mikey, when I made these hats, I actuall didnt use a stitch marker! Call me adventurous, but I didnt. These hats are so flippin' easy!! ;-)
I made one for my daughter in her college colors uc davis😊thanks!!!
Hey Mikey I love the pattern and it worked up so quickly, as for the trim I found if you do a backwards single crochet it gives it a nicer trim. You should try it, it almost gives it a rope look effect.
Good luck I hope you like my pattern ;) be sure to ask questions if you any need help :) Cathy@The Crochet Crowd :)
I am in Belgium using Drops Nepal it works so nice! maroon, white and black awesome!
Use any yarn you most prefer. We are just lookiing for people be creative. :)
j'ai très bien suivi cette vidéo,,,, merci mille fois crochet crowd,,,
gosh MissJess you are lucky you CAN use Red Heart Yarn we have to order it in the USA and it is expensive to send...started using it when I was in the US on a trip I love Red Heart!
if your tension is tight or your using a smaller ply yarn than a 4 ply the hat will come out smaller than intended ....if you think its your tension( your stitches are tight) try going up a hook size and see if that helps ..Cathy@The Crochet Crowd :)
thank you, made an awesome hat with this
Thank you mikey is pretty
Made it and it was awesome. I used transitional yarn.
Thanks. I started it again, since I was only 4 rows in and it's working out right so far. I think I'm crocheting too tight and it's hard to see the stitches, so I'm trying to crochet a little looser.
I have 7 of these to make before end of Oct.
Thank u so much l really enjoyed the tutorial
Did you compare the video to where the stitch is? I get that... what you are struggling with is a common problem we all have. If you think you are doing it right, be consistent throughout and it should work out right.
very cute
thanks
Hi Mikey and Cathy, two questions, if I want to make a beanie for the "hook club" contest as I understand, my project must have the ear flaps and braids to qualify, correct? Do I need to use Red Heart materials? Thanks!
If your hook is smaller or bigger than the pattern calls for then the size of the hat wont come out right ...Cathy@ The Crochet Crowd :)
Really struggling with my yarn choice. I chose Lion Brand Homespun. It's a beautiful transitioning yarn that matches my new winter coat. The texture is nearly identical to the first texture in your yarn, Mikey. Are you still using a G size hook with this yarn in the tutorial? My hook keeps getting caught and it is very difficult to make out my stitches. Any recommendations?
Hey everyone, how many sc rows is it. I'm using a I hook and it looks rather small, if I might add. Now I could take it out and start again using a bigger hook. But, I've used two colors black and pretty n pink, so I really don't want to do that. But I may have to. Aww man...
it should make it come out slightly bigger
do you have a tutorial to make this for kids as well? like for ages 4 through 11.
If I was to make this in a 3-10yrs size how many stitches wide would I need to make the earflaps??
what size does this fit
Is there pattern for baby to toddler hat like this?
Would the pattern be too bad if I use a H hook
Somehow mine is coming out HUGE. Do you have any ideas on why this could be happening?
thanks
I crochet like I knit, tight, I had to use a bigger hook (J). I've got a small head and it was way to tight on me using the G sized hook.
Lily Lunacy I do the opposite LOL, my hats seem loosey goosey so I go down a hook 🤷🏼♀️
Can you give me the specs to make one for a toddler?
Nvm I see I can use a different hook now. But I tried this pattern before and the hat seemed small for some reason. So ill try it again I guess. But I thought this hat would fit almost any adult head. Y did it seem small?
I have a question. first round is 10 stiches. 2 round is 20. how many stiches is round 3? round 4?
what if ur crochet hook is size 3?
Can we use a magic circle rather than the beginning chain in this project?
I'm part way through and I'm wishing I did that haha
I do not see any size diameter dimentions anywhere. What is the diameter size of this hat?
