BMW S1000R with Akrapovic exhaust fitted. Revving, accelerating and onboard sound of the aftermarket pipe. Sounds great, especially when it backfires - which is often.

Hi, Did you ride some long distance on it? What was maximum milage you got? I am considering it now to buy. In town there is no problem to refuel even after 180km but on routes I don't want to stop every 200km.
+Łukasz Drózda Hi Łukasz, I haven't really taken it for a long trip and stayed inside the city all the time but I think that riding it with reasonable speeds will give you decent range on a tank. I cannot really tell you what the range will be outside the city though. 200 km na zbiorniku to i tak luksus w motocyklu :)

What is your height?? Do you feel the positions is more like on sport bikes??

Note that the person seen in a video is my friend, not me. I believe he's about 170 cm (5' 7"). Therefore I cannot tell you whether he liked the position. I'm 183 cm (6' 0") and I found it very comfortable. It is more comfortable and upright than on a sport bike. The handlebar is also straight and provides better control in the city riding. Hopefully this helps you.

Beautiful Bike ... Even though this bike has a slipper clutch do you blip the throttle when downshifting . I know it doesn't make a difference but does it sound the same ?
Yes, I usually do blip the throttle. I don't think that slipper clutch would change the sound but of course when you blip, you rev the engine and this delivers nice sound experiences from the Akrapovic. This is why I like blipping even more on such bikes. Is this what you were asking about?

You know, I would definitely swap the whole exhaust along with headers and the rest. Slip-on is OK but I'd gladly see it getting louder as it sounds really, really good for an inline four engine. You can always rev the bike and let it backfire - then you know people hear you.

I believe that this was the only option from BMW's catalogue - just an "original" Akrapovic that you can order straight from BMW while purchasing the bike.

+The Incredible Sulk Good question. It's very tough to choose but I'd take the R to ride in heavy traffic and the Diavel to ride when the roads are empty.
Cheers for the reply I suppose the R would feel light after the diavel. Did you find excessive heat off the R in traffic?
The Incredible Sulk Not at all - there were no problems with the engine heat. And you're right - the R feels lighter and a little bit easier to handle. You also sit higher what I believe helps controlling the bike.
At 7 seconds you see the lights go flashing is this just camera stuff or is it 4 real flashing :D ???

It's because it's an LED light.
If you see movies from cars like Bugatti you will see the exact same effect ^^

+V-Told Well that's not fair. In the US we're stuck with these big floppy black things with traditional bulbs in them... I really want something smaller and led.

Oh yes, I remember it when the Z1000 was first shown - very handsome bike. But the S1000R is.. it is just sick. And the exhaust does the job!
Oh yeah I bet! I keep telling my buddy I'm bored with riding and he's like "Just get that s1000r, you'll be just fine." LoL
DrBIeed That's one good advice! :) I'm not sure that there would be such a great difference between the Z and S1000R. You'll certainly be fine if you get an aftermarket exhaust system and play with it on the road. All eyes on you... Gotta love it :D
did you sell the s1000r? and if you did...why?
No Bob, I didn't sell it as it was actually a dealer's bike I was using for some time. I don't think I'd sell it quickly.

S1000RS is only available in EU, it's basically the S1000R with the Sports-pack.

You serious ._. if you want to hear someone explain it, go watch Royal Jordanian on youtube, he explains what the RS is, and if you're from "Europe" It's just the S1000R with the sports pack, asking the RS in your dealership and they don't know what it is, might wanna go somewhere else.
Gavin Draculia Well, the RS is reserved for R family which consists of boxer engine motorcycles. In the S family you have the RR which is a superbike and the R which is a naked bike. Nothing else so far. The RS has always been a boxer.
