This tune was played by British forces radio every evening, in every British base around the world, but it was a joke, because we knew that the Sun never set on the British Empire.
A shame the audience, including what looked like civic dignitaries, didn’t have the courtesy of standing up as I’m sure they would have for the national anthem. Sunset is an equivalent, with officers saluting.
Served with the Light Infantry. Always loved this.
Stunningly poignant.
Proud to have served.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them............
Same here sir

Sunset is my favourite military march. It is so moving.
It's not a march but it is moving

I'm so proud to be British
When I hear something as wonderful & awesome as "Sunset", I start to wish I was.
The only regret was a Valved Trumpet instead of Bugle. Lest we Forget.
I’m pretty sure that was a cornet not a trumpet but I agree
which hymn is it that they refer to?
have you read the introduction ??
It's The Evening Hymn
@@Bruce-1956 I MEANT, what would be the word$ to the hymn if there were ver$e$. (broken keyboard)
