Overall, I appreciate the video. I have two points to raise. First, I am fairly certain you installed the bayonets or extension stays backward. They should be rotated 180 degrees such that the tops of the extension stays point (bend) away from your head, not toward your head, when wearing the pack. The purpose of the bend is to create some head space, which is defeated if the tops of the stays are facing or bent toward your head. Second, I suspect your problem with the ice axe slipping loose on occasion is that you did not twist the ice axe after you slid it through the loop. That is, slide the "pointy end" of the axe through the loop all the way to the neck, twist or turn the ice ace 180 degrees, THEN flip it up and secure the axe to your pack. That twist should help prevent the axe from slipping loose.
thanks! On your first point, keeping the bend away from your head would be nice as it does get in the way when you try to look up. I thought the bend was toward your head to keep weight over your body not pulling you backwards. I'll have to try your way and see how that feels. On your second point, yes! I'll make sure to twist it from now on. Thanks again!
@@timgardner-PapaG About that, I can't believe I missed this until now: The ice axe should be turned 360 degrees (one rotation), not 180 degrees, before flipping it up to secure to your pack. If you do this, I think you will notice the head of the axe is more securely attached. Sorry for my miss...
Very informative! Love your dog in the background :)
Thank you!

@@timgardner-PapaG Maybe you could ask Dan McHale about the extension stay directions.
