Wow, you have no idea how helpful this video was, I'm going to watch it again later, take notes and save it for future reference. I asked my instructor about judging LZ and he had nothing for me, thank you and keep up the great work
So happy to hear this is helpful to you! Another thing I should have added is the flight duration. I need to check the raw recording to know exact length but I think it was around 8min. Straight shot from the launch to the landing. Don’t think I flew longer than 10min.
Well done and great video, thanks. Your description of LZ target distance finding is spot on and your keel mounted cam makes it easy for the viewer to understand your explanation. The highlighted LZ and DBF setup are great- good vid!
Thank you🤩 I’m so glad you found it a good video. I try but I don’t have a professional video editor so sometimes I wonder how it looks to people. But my message and experiences are there is all that matters at the end😊
Yesterday I was thinking , when will we get a chance to see you next exceiting advancement...? wow its so enjoyable for us to share your fun, thrills and progress. It gives us so much pleasure, it's almost as if we are doing it ourselves. Well done..!!
Omg, how nice to hear such a complimentary comment🙏✨ sounds like you watch my video with other pilots?(so sorry if you’ve told me this in other vid’s comment) it is my hope to bring people an experience of vicarious flying. That’s why I like to keep the sound of the wind. And to hopefully give some insights to people going into the sport and also, for this one and SE site, if pilots are planning to fly the site. Per your comment, mission accomplished!😁
Hello Again Nano, I just left a comment on you SE site of Eagle Rock then, I learned you did flew off the NW site. Good Job (you can wash the mud out). -Abraham
You're right - mountain flying is a completely different animal! It was a great decision to make your base leg into the final given your low altitude. You always have to be ready to change your plans and make snap decisions if things don't play out the way you expect them to. Great job, Nano! 👏🏻👍🏻😎
Thank you🙏 definitely good that I got my feet wet. I feel like if I don’t wait out too long, next time I’d feel a lot more confident and aware of all things(other than soaring cos I haven’t experienced) and fly a lot better.
Thanks for sharing NanoRa! I am also a new pilot who has never flown a mountain site. Seeing you share the video makes me feel a lot better and more confident! (Can't see the windsock and start panicking is so real😹)
I'm in the same boat, new pilot ...and an old guy too, so I can't-run out a downwind landing like you youngsters. I like wheels. They may not look cool but sure beats whacking!
@huxuan8611 Hi and yay! I knew sharing my honest experience can shed light on and be a motivator to some. You are not alone!!! We all share very similar struggles and challenges at some point and without them we can’t get better neither. Let’s keep going!
Hi Nano! That was a looong flight😋! Not perfect (as you pointed out) but good enough! It will be much better. Keep on flying! As for loading the glider on the ladder. Try this metod. Almost like DirtJunkie says. I do like this when I`m loading my kayak. Get some kind of metal rod/ pipe. Stick it in the first hole on the side of the ladder in the front. Let it stick out a fot or two. Lay the glider on the ground along the ladder. Lift the front of the glider on to the out sticking pipe. Then lift the back of the glider on to the ladder. Finally adjust the glider in the front and take the pipe out! Good luck out there!
Wooooow I can so envision it. Ya ya that makes sense and sounds like it would work nicely! I’m gonna go get a pipe from Lowes or Hime Depot and try that out!! Thank you so much😃
You’re taking good time and practicing! .. that is the way.. your reward will be a great one.. keep practicing and developing your confidence, your confidence is directly related to your control ability, maneuverability, and judgement… everything is strengthening with every flight.. we are going to see you make it to the clouds!:)

💯😂 I know, the thing is I feel like I don’t know how to land on the wheels. Like how to properly do it so I’m not coming down hard on them and end up damage the down tubes. But ya you are 100% right. I should feel ok to rely on them more. They at least have given me the sense of peace of mind by just being there😆
@@nanoraflyz I e used them more than I’m proud to admit lol. I will say that on some terrain there not really feasible. You’re doing a great job though. I enjoy your videos.
Oh, and an airspeed indicator would be even more important to use than a vario, but they are good also. Get a Hall, that doesn't need batteries. Just don't go over best glide, which is about 25mph. In that glider. Looks like a great site, I'd like to try it too!!
@@nanoraflyz that's a good brand! I just ordered a Syride with GPS, Finally. I usually just use a beeper and a Hall.. but it will be nice to get more information on flights, should help to fly more efficiently.
Great flight, skunky! And you stayed out of the puddles! BTW, have you tried doing the thing where you put one end of the glider up on the car first, set the back end down on the ground, then pick up the back end and swing it up on top? Can make loading easy for some setups.
Hey Jake👋 ya ya i think Chew shared that method, haven’t tried it… I’ve gotten used to it doing it this way but ya I should try that method too to see if it’s much easier. I really need to put more pads on the ladder.. I keep scraping the glider when I’m mounting it on it. I wish to fly with you and Mie one day!!!!💫
@@DirtJunkieI heard!! Sigh sigh… I feel like I could have come out but thought that the condition wasn’t gonna be for me and I really needed the lazy day after continuous go go go days the last few weeks. So happy you got to have a long nice sunset flight☺️
I re-watched your approach and landing several times and couldn't find the windsock either ....until after you landed and walked right over by it. With a light wind and no obvious directional indication from bushes blowing or groundspeed, and especially being new to the area, I can sure see how you ended up landing downwind. It seems to me that having wheels on your basetube is a smart thing! What did your instructor say about it all?
The moment I landed I was facing toward the windsock afar and it was light tail. Also there are clusters of bushes on the left side by where I landed and where the windsock is. I don’t know why the windsock is located there when there are bushes right next to it. Maybe they used to not be there but they likely are creating rotors. My observer was telling me that condition is so light at LZ, if it end up being tail just land on the wheel or run out. He also pointed out I should keep my grip lighter.(I normally can do that, I think I was too nervous). I’m going to get a windsock so if I need to I can always stick it in a LZ(after getting a permission from the club). Here are the images I captured that you can kind of see the windsock. It looks super far because the GoPro is set wide lens view. You have to zoom in. share.icloud.com/photos/04anv-YgtC3NpDPrMbfkEgj5Q

Nicely done lass 😄 Both takeoff and landing. With wheels the landing direction compared to the wind does not matter that much. You do fine. Cheers.
