That's just what I was thinking. I have no job and dont know how I'll feed myself and was doing uber eats on a bike and fell and broke my arm while only making a few bucks a day homeless and not able to eat a lot most days. I kept thinking there is nobody who has it worse than me and just having an absolute pool party in my own tears. But here is this guy joking breaking his neck and dying from cancer. It sucks that he is in this situation but it really made me feel like I'm not alone.

@@natalieportmanfanbundlepla6060 I hope you really do get better. Try applying for salary jobs, and make yourself appear non-homeless. Work a day, then walk back for a long time back to an area you are comfortable in hiding the fact that you are homeless if that is what's keeping you from getting a job. After a while, you'd earn enough to rent a very small apartment. And move up in this world from there. Maybe work several jobs(once you are comfortable in your rented house), so that maybe you can later afford either medical bills/schooling(aka high school/college), get a degree that's useful, and work on it. From there, you may even end up buying an apartment, and maybe even having a family or just yourself, but also meet wonderful friends along the way at college for e. g. Ik it's hard and that college is not necessarily a path for success, but it does make your life a hell easier when it comes to obtaining job opportunities. Good luck ❤

With all of the medically related interactions we have experienced during our careers, man.....I'm sure you have stories just as I do! When we require a multidisciplinary medical team....those interactions continue and become plentiful. I can't think of the word that really suits how I feel, when I personally experience or simply see such inept, lack of compassionate care. 'Incensed'.....maybe that suits. It hits me to the core. More so when I witness it R/T others (and I don't think we have to be nurses to feel that way.....just respectable human beings!). Either way, I'm one of those who can't sit back without me saying something. It's mind boggling why people choose their professions, when they perform the way they do.

I had never even heard of thyroid cancer before my mum was diagnosed with it almost 9 years ago. Unfortunately she is no longer here, but we had 4 years with her after diagnosis, thanks to treatment that was relatively new at the time. I buried my head in the sand back then as my way of coping, and she just dealt with all the challenges and hurdles. This has given me some insight into what she went through. My mum survived a very bad cancer which could return so I’ve had my own experience from the outside. Without getting religious (as per your rules) we all have to go at some time and can literally go at any age during our sleep of brain aneurism as I unfortunately know someone who did, we cannot control death. What we can control however is how we use our time here. You’re using your time to educate a lot of people and already have a large following so already you’ve done things that most will never do. I am here really admiring your toughness and sense of humour Joe. I'm sorry I can't leave a jokey comment about breaking my neck, because I actually have (about 20yrs ago) and I still have a lot of problems with it now. If my experience helps then Yes you might not think your mouth is connected to your neck in a meaningful/potentially harmful way, but I have found at bad times that a wide-open jaw can really tweak those joints at the top (C1-3), so be careful with that as you won't know about it until it happens.
I'm glad that you're sharing your story and that we can respond with the comments, and I am sure I am not the only one who is wishing you comfort and love bro.

So many things wrong about the management of Joe's fracture. First of all the staff knows that he has a pathological fracture of the humerus and should have considered a pathological fracture of a vertebra given his sudden onset of pain. The appropriate management would have been to manually immobilize the neck (with two hands) and call an ambulance immediately. They would have brought a cervical collar (neck brace) and immobilized him on a backboard and taken him to A&E immediately. He should not have waited all night at home. Any sudden movement might have rendered him a quadraplegic. Secondly he was given a cheese sandwich on arrival to the ER? He should have been kept NPO until a determination was made as to whether he required surgery to stabilize the spine. What he is describing is popularly known as a "hangman's fracture" which occurs through the pedicles of C1 and is typically seen in people who have been hanged. His medical management was so substandard.
