I love planting garlic! It always makes me look like I know what I'm doing when the truth is they are so self-sufficient, it's ridiculous. I wish I had better luck with fall onion plantings than I have had in the past. Spring ones, great, fall, not so much. Do you row cover them over winter?
Hi Lou, we dont cover them with a row cover but we do pack them with straw. We also don't have a frost line, when we lived in the northeast we could not over winter anything!
@@meadowgreenfarm I'm in western NC. I thought you were in TN? Not sure about frost line, but I sure get plenty of cold weather, in the 20's. Figured you would also.
We are in SE TN, yes we get the weather in the 20s and sometimes below. We have never experiences issues with garlic or onions over wintering though, we pack straw around them and have not lost any plants.
