i love it! SAFETY 5TH! you win my subscription buddy!
Very nice.
Wont the pvc pipe burst in winter? I used garden hoses on my system cause the rubber is flexible and it did survive a week at zero or below.
Good job! I have a very similar system minus the first flush which I thought was not necessary.
Hey buddy, great set up, thanks for being diligent with every step. How have you found them filling up with this system and the pressure. Thanks in advance
We have zero issues with them filling up evenly or completely full. Only if we had the rain to keep them full we would be great!
That UV cover is great. I didn't know they made those.
Or you could just put up gutter guards and remove all the overkill plumbing because of the use of that leaf eater.
whoa Ben Shapiro has a wide range of interests
why is everything reversed? It is like watching you using a mirror. I noticed it when you put the plug in by lefty loosey
I realize you are trying to make the case for the Berkshire breed and why you have chosen them. I've raised pigs from my teens into my late thirties under conditions similar to the ones you are using. Temperament of a pig is not universally the same across any particular breed. I have found Durocs and Hampshires to have temperaments similar to how you describe the Berks you have. Poland China is another calm animal. We bought pure bred boars on an every changing breed type, so I've had the breed types listed along with Chester Whites, Poland China, Spots and Landrace at one time or another. Landrace was the only breed we found a disappointment in our herd. But keep in mind, like raising a dog, these animals really respond to how well and kindly they are treated. If you are gentle with them they will act the same back to you. This is especially true in your breeding sow heard. The one pig that I have had issues with were Yorkshire sows. They are great mothers, but that also means they are extremely protective of their litters. Put yourself between a sow and her litter very cautiously because she will not tolerate it. This is especially true of Yorkshire sows. Keep in mind that every commercial breed of pig went through a drastic adjustment to their core genetics in the late 1950's through the 1960's. All the breeds were targeted to create the same finished type of carcass. So genetics bred into these breeds in the 1800's are pretty much gone from modern pigs. The example of the difference in the commercial pork chop you showed and the home raised piece has more to do with how your animals were fed than it does the genetics involved. The high energy, high protein diet commercial hogs are raised on produces that style of meet. Other diets that depend on nutrition passed on foraging will slow the growth rate and with less available protein and calories produce the type of meat you see. That is not a bad thing, but be aware of the real source of the change in texture. One last point, I am aware of the value of keeping pure bred lines of all animals, but especially for pigs, the best performing as far as growth and carcass confirmation are the animals that result from cross breeding across at least three breeds.
Do you have fake eyebrows on?
You made that first flush way more complicated than it needed to be. I'm sure you spent a small fortune in adapter fittings
Your son did a great job! 👍👍
can you show how you built the slanted table/ shelf? I cant find how to anywhere and it is what i want in my stand!!??
please send me an email meadowgreenfarm.tn@gmail.com and I will send you a blueprint!
This is really cute but its not moveable unless you have a tractor. I'd love something I can move with my riding mower on an unpaved road.
You can also use for drinking.
Great Vid. Im starting to get into the off grid way of thinking. lol Hey, just a thought that popped into my head while watching you assemble the waste water part with the spigot to empty the waste water. Couldnt you leave that valve slightly open all the time? I was just thinking it probably wouldnt slow the water catch down much and it would drain itsself empty after the rain. That way you just need to clean the larger debris out every now and then but it never has stagnent dirty water in it because it always runs itself empty when rain stops.
Typically that is what is done if the intent is to never use the "waste" water. An orifice could also be used. In our case we actually collect that water for our gardens immediately so we leave the valve close. Good suggestion!
awesome build!! I love that your son was involved looks like a great Father Son project.
I use a 6 ton come along and a 12k winch. So far I have two pine stumps 26,27".
3:25 Those eyes! ❤❤❤
I just found your channel. Good info. My family owned a hardware store for 35 years. I would suggest using Pipe Joint Compound (or as the older plumbers cal it "pipe dope") on all of those galvanized joints, not Teflon Tape.
boy you arent kiddin', hindsight is 20/20 but luckily everything is still holding up A-OK!
Never pipe dope on water
@@generic_Ryan Why?
Love y’all.
Very helpful, thanks!
What an awesome video ! Thank you
Awesome, thanks so much!!!!!
You did a great job with this video. You also implemented some awesome techniques I have not seen before. Thank you!
You did a great job with this video. You also implemented some awesome techniques I have not seen before. Thank you!
You could have plumbed straight down into the tank instead of making 2 90 turns.. good job !!
What size was the ball and where did you get it?
The ball is a simple plastic play ball, 2 5/8" OD from Amazon. You will need to buy them in a pack.
Is the frame level, or is it slightly sloped?
The frame was installed perfectly level, still is.
@@meadowgreenfarm Thank you.
If you use just a little bit of pipe dope on top of that Teflon tape you won't have to go back and fix leaks. If I was going to use only one or the other I would use pipe dope.
How have these run-flat tires held up? I have a z121s and trying to decide on springing for more inflatables, or the cheaper run flats.
They have held up great, no issues. One thing to consider as a negative with this, there is no give in these tires so the ride is quite a bit more harsh now. That's the only down side I have found. I may look for a more rugged inflatables to get the cushion back in the future.
Love from Indian
One tip for making better joints is to work in sections if possible, especially as a novice not used to working with pvc primer and glue. It’s best to work with the primer while it’s relatively fresh, while it’s still shiny or just after it “dries”, if you wait too long the plastic will set up hard again (primer softens the pvc so that it can chemically weld when the glue is applied) working one or two joints at a time allows for more time to work while everything is still fresh and perfectly suited to be glued together. Waiting too long will give weaker joints and lead to leaks, not a terrible problem on a system like this but your joints will hold up to the weight and age for longer. And most people don’t stop here, they might start dabbling in pressurized systems for their garden irrigation or diy plumbing to fix leaks and those are situations where proper fitting preparation are key.
Good info. Thx.
Maybe you could circulate the water with solar powered pump ? Wouldn’t this stop the ones from freezing? Then create a pig watering nipple that will not freeze, or a tray they could step on to break up the ice so they could drink from it ? IDK as I do not have pigs, but love your work thanks again for all your efforts!!!
I was thinking it may be easier for your future service of your tanks , if you put a 45 to lower it below your wood supports so you could drive straight in with equipment….. maybe cut off valves independently for each tank in order to remove them independently… just thought I would share those thoughts along with my deepest thanks for all your efforts to produce this video. Hello, new subscriber here. Homesteading is something I am working toward now. Plumbing is one of the two things that I find to be intimidating (unsurprisingly perhaps, electric is the other). I am learning a lot from your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Welcome! Don't be intimidated, plumbing is super easy with only a few rules to follow. Electrical is too, generally speaking for simple things. My advice with plumbing or electrical is just to not use cheap products and do it right the first time! The more thought you put into your routing and designs the better your result will be, but more often than not you will learn something and make adjustments along the way. Best of luck.
Ok Plumber here. Yes cringe 😂.
That glue is nasty stuff. Is it really necessary.
Great video. Which model is that?
Nice set up and good video! Another way to calculate amount of water in gallons per 1” of rain fall is to multiply the sq-ft X .624
In india we cant find Berkshire.. it will be nice if we have some for breeding pure Berkshire
When solving problems, you have to be careful not to install new ones. The circulation solves the freezing problem. But it now means any backflow goes to all points. That makes it more likely to spread illness throughout. Especially now that it redistributes the water back to the source.
How to clean inside?
Thanks
Excellent system, thanks for posting!
On second 25 calculation sheet last row it is devision not multiplication.
Thank you, unfortunately I cannot correct that slide but posting the correction helps!
SSQA worked perfectly on my LS XJ2025 diesel tractor less than 5 minutes to get the bucket off the deliver truck and onto my tractor Stumps come out of the ground almost magically Big stumps and roots maybe 5-10 minutes Finished 5 acres of brush stumps (most with 3-5 inch stumps and up to 16 foot roots in 3 hours Saved over $1,200 in fees for stump removal to be able to till the field
How do you know how much rain per hour you get? And would it be possible to share the chart as a pdf link? It was a bit too pixelated to read. Thanks for such an in-depth video!
send me an email meadowgreenfarm.tn@gmail.com and I will send you the charts. Thank you for watching!
