We have a old bomford headgear cutter it only just cuts the hedge you have to got over it about 5 times to make it look neat you got over it once and its neat 🤣🤣
Living in Australia it is interesting to see farming in England. What I am trying to understand is wether your family lease the three farms as I get the impression that your family have had a long association with the farms. I have had relations in dairying, but now just fattening cattle for market. Another branch of the family grew flowers and strawberries. My youngest son this year bought a farm with the intention of running cattle on it. Certainly enjoy the videos, keep up the good work.
Nice to see a man who keeps hedges tidy and who knows the letter of the law about it therefore not abusing what to cut!!!! Also like not being asked/bullied into “hit that subscribe button and ring the bell for notification” like another English farmer I follow because I just followed you anyways!!!!

Hi Andy. Big fan of your channel, and do a fair bit of hedge cutting myself. Great choice for the Shelbourne, I think you'll love it. Please tell me you've ticked the option box for the 1.5m head? I have used both 4 foot (1.2m) and 5 foot heads (1.5m), and the difference is amazing. The productivity of the 1.5m head is leagues ahead, especially when topping hedges or verge mowing. Thanks for all you do on RUclips.
Hi Andy lovely job as always we operate two McConnell pa 7700 back here in Ireland but I’ve seen u took the precaution of protecting your paintwork on the jd by putting a tarpaulin cover over the bonnet could you tell we where u purchase such an item ? While hedge and verge trimming is relatively lighter duties on the farm it does essentially take its toll on the paintwork (ps EnJoy the week off ! )
Just curious you talk that you are only allowed to cut hedges at certain times of the year. Why is that? Just we don't have any hedges along the roads here in Canada so I'm just curious. Great videos!!
yes because its a 200k tractor so the better I look after it the more it will be worth when we come to sell it. the hedge trimmings scratch the paintwork and also berries from some of the hedges stain the paint. Thanks for watching.

You are only meant to hedge cut after 1st September, due to "wildlife". You can cut hedges before the 1st if you are drilling a crop before that like oilseed rape
What is the reason that you ; being a farmer, have to cut the grass on the roadside ? Are this all private roads , or do you contract work for the municipality?
My thought as well, with the size of the machines these days you could quite easily see over those hedges. Andy did check for nests etc, off camera of course.
He was cutting next to highways, just happens that the single tracks. It's not just the road users that it's a safety concern with either, it the operator coming out of a field as well. Don't forget, a tractor bonnet can be long so you need to be able to see Joe blogs in his sports car doing 60mph before you pull out.
@@jappleton104 a cut entrance helps somewhat to make people aware that a tractor may be using the gateways and slow slightly/ be more observant. You are higher in a tractor but also have a longer bonnet in front and sometimes a front mounted implement so even with the cab height have to pull out more before you can see the road is clear.
That JD looks sweet with the black covers on the rims 👌

Nice hedge trimmer
You can cut roadside ditch’s any time of the year for road safety reason.

Great vid again.

Hydraulic top links are lovely but heavy

Here in New Zealand there are pretty much only Mconal hedge mulchers and only the contractors own them barely any farmers have one
Great video Andy👍
I'd love to work on a farm.

We use one cunninghamcovers the links at the bottom don’t know if this will help industrial.cunninghamcovers.co.uk/tractor-bonnet-covers/quote
Why the wheel covers
To protect the rims I think.
Looking good mate
Great Vlog, a challenging piece of gear
You go to some silly lengths of protecting your tractor like it’s only a thorn after all or a twig
We had a shelbourne 865 Vfr on demo last week good well built machine but heavy compared to my Bomford falcon 6t
I really think the old bomford flails take some beating, really good machines.
Super. 👍👍👍👍👍
Good vid 🚜👍🏴
Why you have those heches and gates everywhere? Mandatory?
Good job 👍
Love the John Deere

Can I ask what your wheel covers are made from??
ply board
Andy is your new hedge trimmer fitted with a wider head unit??? Makes the job soooo much easier.
Yes! 1.5m 🙂🙂
It's a farming life for me! Nice that will save some time and hrs on the tractor 👍🏻👍🏻
What happened to the yellow wheel guards you made.
There the same ones he's painted them black
Good day can you tell me the name of the machine I live in Colombia south america we do that job by hand and will be good chance the way we do it
Is the cover of the hood custom made or is it manufactured by someone?
Manufactured by an Irish company
Why do you cover the rims?
to protect them from the trimmings damaging the paint and also the berries stain the yellow paint.
Why do you cover your wheels and bonnet. I take it it's just because it's new?
yes because its a 200k tractor so the better I look after it the more it will be worth when we come to sell it.
the hedge trimmings scratch the paintwork and also berries from some of the hedges stain the paint. Thanks for watching.
@@Itsafarminglifeforme fair enough. I changed a bonnet on a McCormick mtx 155 and that was about 500 pounds excluding the vat
I understand the window cover but why need hubcaps and cover the the bonnet?😅 Looks like a toy tractor
Is you hedge cutter going up for sale when you get your new one
yes Hunt forest group will probably have it up for sale as it is being part exchanged
That's some beast of a hedge cutter
Why do you have those two other bars on the hedge cutter that you connect on the tractor?
Stabilise the machine.. if you just use the three point linkage the hedge trimmer would move all over the place and not leave as neat a job👍🏻👍🏻
@@donaldtriumph1682 But i tought that there are stabilisers on the two linkage arms to fixate them so they can't move sidewards

Wheel covers always look naff
Since when is it illegal to trim a bush?
Nesting birds

I'm told most of them are nowadays.
This is a silly question but why can’t you spray in the rain?
It would wash off before the plant could absorb it.
Forgive me if I sound stupid but there's laws for hedge cutting as in you can only do it at certain times of the year?
Yes there are mate
so why aren't you allowed to cut the hedge at that time of year? i live in Australia we dont have many hedges here.
its because the farm receives money from the government if we follow there rules and regs
@@Itsafarminglifeforme oh thats nice we just get extra TAX weather we follow the rules or not.
Did you sweep out that empty shed while you had the hedge trimmer on?
Every Massey sud get one them covers 😂
Bit overkill 🤣

I'm sure the hedge cutting your doing is against the rules you can only cut hedges that are next to the highway and are a danger to the public
