If you UXD build a website, then it’s essential to code as well. The answer makes it conflicting with the previous answer that UXD doesn’t need to code

Hi Dylon - there are indeed designers that do code and companies that require coding skills. In general though, this is not an essential skill. In my experience, I never needed coding skills - though I did help to launch several big e-commerce platforms. Luckily, a lot of companies have dedicated developers to do the coding work.

Hy, I think that question "do UX designer need a degree" can be interpreted as in do they need high education like university degree of any kind. Would love to hear your comment on that.

What I've seen since I started working as a UX Designer is that most designers are people who either a degree in communication design / interaction design / graphic design or something like that OR they're careerswitchers who had different careers before becoming designers. Most of the designers I have do have some kind of higher education, though not always a university degree.
One thing I should mention here is that I'm based in Berlin, Germany - this might be different depending on the region you live in

Hi. I've recently quit my job as a SDE to follow my obsession for Design Art and Tech. Is UX Design and having strength in Ui a way to go ?? I also have some experience as a UXD but I'm still in a dilemma. Cuz I do have some other options in mind, for e.g. Data Scientist. Anyways, I really enjoy your content.

Hey, it's great you're pursuing this career change! We can definitely recommend both UX and Data Science as a profession! We offer course options in both areas, covering free short courses, to full programs. What are you leaning towards generally? Let us know if we can offer any guidance in the mean time, and thanks for the kind feedback!

Does Career Foundry offer courses/mentorship for students who have been through certificate programs on Coursera? I have finished certifications from CalArts and U of M, but I’m still looking for support as I build a portfolio and begin job hunting!

Maybe you should find a mentor on ADPLIST who works in the field you’re interested in or at the company you really want to work at!

Mentorship at CareerFoundry is included in the main CareerFoundry program, though is not a separate track people can book.
