Thank you, Cynthia! I'm a UX student at CF as well, I'm currently on Exercise 2.4, and agree 100% with everything you said! My main challenge is to gather topics to discuss with my mentor, since I rely on my tutor so, so much on my submissions. Also, I feel that my tutor is more proactive than my mentor, since he is the one giving me lots of insights that I didn't think about while doing my assignments. That being said, I really like CF bootcamp and the fact that I can study on my own pace. Thank you again for the video, I really like the honest and educational way you are sharing your experience!
I feel the same way, I definitely feel more connected to my tutor, and it is challenging deciding on how to make the best out of the 1:1 mentor calls. You’re welcome, thanks for watching my video, I a really appreciate it! 😊
Hey Meibelyn! Congrats 🎉 and welcome! 👋 How are you getting on so far with the program so far? Equally let us know if you have any questions we can clear up too!
Cynthia, This video was really insightful. I did appreciate your candor in the negatives and positives of your journey thus far. I too would have been disappointed in not learning a particular software brand (Figma, Adobe NX, etc.). I'm not enrolled in a camp yet but I am doing some tutorials now and have enrolled in the Google Coursera UX/UI certification program. I have just 2 lessons left for that. I do like your videos as you are going thru the same journey as me and a lot of others. Keep up the videos and good luck in finishing boot camp.
Great insight and great video. I just started a bootcamp yesterday with avocademy (UX/UI foundations) and to say that I’m intimidated so far would be the understatement of the year. Definitely going to keep going because I do want to break into the field but wow, lol. Just subscribed to your channel as well.
Hi, CF student here. You learn the design programs in the UI course. They currently give the option of adobe XD and sketch. You learn the main functions in the intro lesson. They are slowly giving the option of figma since everyone is consistently using it. For those of you in the comments who are concerned, my advice would be make sure you are certain if you can complete SELF STUDY. I know many who have had to take a break or basically drop out. I now know I need in person learning. The UI course glances over competitive analysis, and user research but I assume not in the way the UX course does.
@@CynVal Hi! Are you happy with your decision to go with UX in CF? I am choosing a bootcamp, and some offer UX/UI without been devided + live classes. And here I see great team, working grom 2014, good reviews. If you can tell more about portfolio, did you work on real challenge for a company, to make 3 projects?

@@NBDesign I’m currently debating between General Assembly and Career foundry right now ! I’m a little concerned because I feel like General Assembly is very broad in the teaching and short (not enough time to get in depth understanding) while career foundry seems like it is a more in-depth pace. I was wondering what were your issues with CF and what did you like or not like about General Assembly and CF?
Hi Cynthia, am happy to have found your channel. I did the career foundry free email course but wasn't sure if I wanted to invest in the whole course yet. I am currently learning through the google coursera UX course and having watched your first video and this one I already see a few things I can relate to. I will be going through your videos all day 😊. Thank you for putting in the time to share your experience. It's really motivating watching you peruse what I want to achieve.
Hello! The CF free week course definitely gives a feel of what to expect. I’ve talked to a few people who are using Coursera, I’ll have to check it out. Definitely let me know if your learnings are similar to what I’m learning with CF. Good luck! 😊
I’ve been in the UX design program and it’s been a struggle to stay motivated and conceptualize all that I’m learning with how they deliver content. Since I’m not coming from a tech background, it’s been so overwhelming and taking way more time that I expected
I think the course has changed a bit now? As I was told "by the end of the program, you’ll know how and when to use different industry standard tools-including Balsamiq and InVision."
Could you post here in the comments the videos that helped you learn the different tools you used ? I am planning on joining August 2nd and I am in the same situation as you when you started, no experience at all in the different design tools. Also, what kind of equipment is needed for the program? Like laptop wise and other things you noticed you use alot? What track are you on? The 6 month or the 10 month track? Thank you for the great videos!!
I am starting the UI Design CF course on 23rd August . You said they don't teach you Sketch , Figma or Adobe XD in UX Design course that you did. Will they teach me those tools in the UI design course or not . I am worried 🙁
Hello, congrats on your decision to pursue UI! I don’t have an answer for you, I know that in UX they do not teach any design programs and I would assume they don’t teach them in UI either. So I recommend reaching out to them to get a definite answer. I created a playlist on a few Figma videos I have found helpful, feel free to check them out.
Hello! It worked for me and I enjoyed it. It took longer but, in my opinion it was worth it because it allowed me to continue my day job and gain new skills. At times I felt burnt out, but I learned to take breaks and just go at my own pace.
Hi Cynthia, thanks for this video! I'm leaning towards starting the program very soon in web development with CF. I have 2 questions. When you're taking the actual courses/lessons are they a lot of reading or are there videos as well? And my other question is now that it's been about 9 months since this video was put out - how do you feel now about the program & have you gotten a job?
Hi Christina, during the time I was taking the course, each lesson had 20-35min readings. Some of the lessons or “achievements” had short videos, 5-10m long. Then the final step of each achievement was to submit your work based on what was learned and the project being worked on- doing the work is what takes majority of the time, but it’s enjoyable to put what you’ve learned into an assignment. Hope that answers yours questions! 😊
Will you be applying for a UX position or continue another bootcamp with UI design? I do hear that many company lumps both UX/Ui design into one position.
Martha is right, it can come out to be approx $7K USD. It’s good to enroll yo their email list, sometimes they have promos, like holidays promotional rates. I also have a link on most of my videos so you can get a 10% discount. Good luck!

That’s really great to hear! I love Figma, it’s very intuitive and has a variety of functions to make collaborating easier.

Will you be applying for a UX position or continue another bootcamp with UI design? I do hear that many company lumps both UX/Ui design into one position.
Hi Tommy, the CF UX program offers a “specialization” on top of learning UX, so most likely I will specialize in UI.
Does that increase the cost of the bootcamp?
I believe you get one specialization as part of the program, but if you want to do more specializations then yes, it would cost more.
Hi there! Hows the job hunt going so far?
Are you learn UX design and skills needed? and do you have job proposals?
I believe that I’m learning the skills I need for UX. I’m still in the program, so not looking for jobs, yet.
Is the link discount code also good for boot camps or just courses?
The discount code on my page is for the entire bootcamp. The discounts they offer are for programs such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, etc.
Could you pls tell the cost of this course ? Because i can’t afford too much money… but I am very much passionate to do this …so pls reply me…
Hey I’m currently doing the UX course too and it cost almost 7k so it’s a bit pricy but they have different payment plans
