  • In this video I review the MobilePixels Duex Plus and see how it stacks up to the other mobile monitor solutions I've tried on the channel.
    I've been on the lookout for a mobile monitor solution that is lightweight, protected when not in use and that doesn't require multiple USB-C ports to work with more different units. The MobilePixels Duex Plus definitiely tick a lot of these boxes.

      @@ZNguyenThienZ I think you misread what I was saying. I meant that I hope the Duex Max fixes the issues that the Duex Plus has.

      Thanks Chris. Are the magnets strong enough to hold the screen? I have seen people complaining that they drop off all the time.

    Nice, another unique gadget! This is a very intriguing concept, but as you said, the need to attach the magnets permanently on the laptop is a bit of a deal breaker for me. Other than disturbing the esthetics of the laptop, does attaching magnets have any other effects on the laptop itself, especially long-term? Speaking about long-term, I would love it if you could give a long-term usage review of this unit since one other possible problem is that of durability.

    • @w2best
      @w2best  2 года назад

      I'm glad you suggest it! I think this is so relevant for my use cases that I will use it quite a lot. Then making a long term review should be very possible! I'm not sure if the magnets affect the laptop in other ways. Nothing i can see yet at least...
      You can actually place it without the magnets in the vertical mode but that's a bit less useful i think.

    Great review! Answered some questions which other reviews did not address such as weight.
    Just one question though. I use a basic laptop stand so that my screen is elevated to my eye level. This would mean that with the Deux attached, it too is elevated and the hinge will not rest on the desk like in your video. Is it possible for the monitor to be elevated on laptop stand whilst in use or does it make the laptop unstable?
    For me, the reason I don't want a separate free standing monitor is that it means I will have to buy another stand to elevate the monitor to my eye level and so cluttering up my desk. This monitor would be the ideal solution if it is not required to be on a flat surface 24/7.
    Thanks!

    The magnets are indeed permanent?

    I’m curious, In a 3 display configuration can you slide both monitors inward like with the trio, or do the magnets on the outer screen prevent that?

    • @w2best
      @w2best  Год назад

      Sliding them works pretty fine, but the second one is not super firm.

    I bought the Duex Plus from GeekMaya at the lower price, plus used the 8% discount code. I then realized this ships from Hong Kong, and after a full day I didn’t get shipping information as to when it will be shipped or when I will get it.
    Should I be concerned whether GeekMaya is a legitimate company to buy from?

    Hello, Mobile Pixels does not endorse triple monitor setup saying the magnets might not hold 2 monitors. They recommended the Trio Max Product. How confident do you feel about this setup will work?

    • @w2best
      @w2best  2 года назад

      I've been using it a lot and it works fine but you should for sure not lift it! It's not a strong hold but enough for the table.

      @@w2best Hi, even if the Mobile Pixel support confirmed to me that the Duex Plus does not support the docking of a second Duex Plus (they suggested the purchase of the Trio..), after seeing your video I am oriented to buy two of them. Before proceeding, I wanted to ask you if you think it's compatible (one Duex Plus hooked to the other) with the use of a laptop stand (one of those that you put under the laptop to keep the screen raised and to have the keyboard tilted) . Using the stand, the laptop and the two Duex would not be resting on the table but would remain suspended in the air. Thank you very much for your possible feedback!!!

    • @w2best
      @w2best  2 года назад

      @@riccardoborlo6999 I would not use it like that! I would not feel safe that it's gonna stay attached to the laptop if you raise it up.
      I hven't tried though so I can't swear by it.

    02 questions;
    1- is it rechargeable?
    2- doesn't it put so much weight on hinges of a laptop?

    • @w2best
      @w2best  Год назад

      There's no battery. It is very lightweight so it doesn't affect the hinges much.

    Realme Book is a new budget laptop around 769 USD. It has 400 nits of maximum brightness, 100% colour accuracy and a 2K resolution panel! What is your opinion? Is Realme Book better than IdeaPad 5?

      I haven't tested realme at all yet so i don't know. I'm not sure I can find it here either. So it's hard for me to give a proper comparison.

    Would those 4 magnets be able to damage the hard drive?

    • @w2best
      @w2best  2 года назад

      I don't know but i hope not. Also there's no hard drive but an SSD :)

    • @DangerousDevilOfficial
      @DangerousDevilOfficial 2 года назад +1

      I would think the older mechanical hard drives would be at risk to magnets. Especially powerful magnets. The SSDs less so. But there still could be a remote chance they interfere or cause issues with an SSD. But an older SSD is usually shielded in PCs and laptops from them. But I still don’t like them being near my hard drives for any reason. Or attached to my laptops for any reason. Something else needs to be figured out. Magnets are a deal breaker for me.
