In real life, no one would care if he got a boo boo, since he was crushing the city and may kill someone.

Well, Diane. your idea was really successful but there is only one setback: it got Nick downsized again and Mandy along with him. LOL.
Yeah, I figured she'd see them in the infant's pocket and gently slip them out or something! Lol
Ngl, every time I watch this, I get a little emotional when Adam gets hurt. This film wasn't a critical success but it's moments like this that make me realize the filmmakers knew what they were doing in a few moments. Adam is perceived to be a monster when he's rampaging around Las Vegas, and in all honesty, rightfully so. He's a gigantic two-year-old. People have every reason to be afraid of him because he doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't realize the damage he's causing. But when he gets hurt, it's upsetting because it's so undeserved due to his childlike innocence and the fact that it's just downright cruel. Someone else in the comments said it best. The villain could have potentially killed him with that electrical shock and in a way it's almost disturbing knowing that could have happened. I love watching the people look up and realize that Adam is still a baby and it's always heartwarming when his mom comes to the rescue.
And by the way baby adam is so cute and he's just wanted to have play and to have fun like every little kids do too.
I'm glad the crying scene only happened for a few seconds because that was painful to watch.

@@Unicysis the helicopter didn’t even want any part of this mission at all because he meaneuvered the helicopter on purpose and when Diane told them to back off, he sounded very relieved when he said “Yes Ma’am” and he even mentions he had kids of his own

I love how the captain said “Yes, ma’am!” when she told them to back off. He knew he didn’t want to be a part of that mission in the first place.
I saw this movie with my mom when it came out in 1992 she laughed at the part when Diane said "Back off". Omg the look on Dr. Hendrickson's face that was priceless. Dr. Hendrickson should be ashamed of himself. All he wants the discovery of a lifetime and make himself famous.

They were all freaking out, and rightfully so cause he's huge and is unaware of the damage he is doing. But him crying reminded them that despite that he is a babyzilla, he's still just an innocent baby. And wtf was that missile or whatever gonna do to solve anything? They're lucky he didn't go on a rampage.
That was sad. Dr. Hendrickson deliberately hurt Adam by shooting the guitar giving him a electric shock which he could had killed Adam, Nick and Mandy.
2:33 - 2:40 :( He's an innocent child. He didn't know what he was. Dr. Hendrickson deliberately shot the guitar. He was careless. Not only did he give Adam a electric shock, he could had killed Adam and also killed Nick and Mandy. Diane did the right thing about getting Wayne to zap her and make her gigantic so Wayne can zap and restore Adam to normal size and stop Dr. Hendrickson for doing more harm to Adam and I don't blame Diane for punching him in the face.
Personally I wouldnt give a rats ass either way. Mind you I dont even like kids to begin with playing a role also I had orders a soldier job iant to question orders but follow them.
It felt good to see the guy finally get what he deserved.
Diane is justified to do so.

Not even if they are the size of a titan that can easily kill people.
Sometimes you gotta let a kid cry so they can learn to sooth themselves. Not saying that needs to be used all the time just certain times.

Once Adam started crying they weren't scared anymore
And rightfully so. All the citizens looked up at him when he started to cry and thought to themselves, “What have we become? He’s no giant monster. He’s just a little kid.”. If I was in that scene, and when he started to cry, I would scream at everybody to stop this abuse towards him, especially Dr. Hendrickson.

While it's not the focus of this scene, as a child I always loved Lloyd Bridges in this as Clifford Sterling. He's so immediately supportive of Wayne and it's great to see Wayne be able to collaborate with someone who respects, likes and treats him as a peer. Sterling also gets great characterisation as a man who retains a hands-on appreciation for his field despite his elevated corporate position, given how he mucks in alongside Wayne to get the shrink machine running in a configuration it was never designed for.
Good fella, he is. I honestly feel like he is reminiscent of his Steve McCroskey character here.

He said he was also a parent himself, and that if Hendrickson continuously hit Adam, his weight would also kill the innocent bystanders in addition to Nick and Mandy. Once Diane grew big and told them to stop, it was the pilot who complied, no questions asked!
Imagine if this machine really existed. The government would have a filed day with it.

I feel like Hendrickson is very lucky he wasn't the only one on that chopper, and had some very obviously reluctant pilots to buffer her wrath.
These first two films are so good. They have a largely serious tone given the premise. The third film got a little more goofy. I hope they shift back more towards the originals with the upcoming fourth film.
