HI 👋 SCOTT ! I WAS WATCHING A RUclips CHANNEL & THE PERSON WAS USING HAND / FOOT WARMERS WITH THEIR CAMERA 📷 EQUIPMENT & IT HELPED THEIR BATTERIES TO LAST A LONG TIME ! JUST A THOUGHT ! THANK YOU LOVE YOUR SETUP , COOL IDEA 💡 😎 BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL 🙏 ALWAYS ON YOUR JOURNEYS ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨
Thank you for sharing, Scott. Presently I use a 2016 Jeep Compass for overland camping. In the winter I sleep in the back; however, in the warmer months I set up a tent or tent cot and sleep outside. It is cramped in the back of the vehicle but at 5'7" I just fit with the hatch closed. I've been considering some options on improving my set up: (1) tear drop trailer, (2) custom made cargo trailer conversion (WeeRoll out of Ocala, Fl.), (3) a DIY van conversion or a (4) pick up such as yours (I've owned several Fords including a SportTrac). I watch videos to get ideas and inspirations to narrow my options. Lately I've been leaning towards the pick up option.
Cabelas has a great sale on an over sized -37 degree canvas sleeping bag for boxing day $99.00 ( reg $199.00).. I have 2 of them and they are fantastic... 👍
New to your channel great video lots of information really appreciate it I'll be tuning in my family and I learned a lot about camping watching your videos please keep them coming stay safe.
Merry Christmas. Short on snow here in Ontario. Supposed to be coming really enjoy it. Question..while back I suggested a rolling connection between the top and extension. Cordura, leatherette would work and give you good seal removeable no draft.
@@DrenalinAdventures Yes Wabasco is the common name brand one. I’d stay away from the regular petrol ones as they seem to have more issues with shutting off with excess soot. I do t have any personal experience but have seen a couple you tubers who have had issues. If your being budget minded there are also cheaper Chinese units on Amazon that I’ve been considering with some different configs. I plan on copying your pull out for my F150 short bed and will probably go the diesel heater route
I recently bought an electric throw from Costco. It is 100W, I'm guessing on high which is quite warm. I love your setup and I'm thinking of doing something similar as I have the truck and shell already and I am 5'10". I wouldn't have the extreme cold to worry about but it is always something to think about when traveling.
Awesome video have you thought about putting in a Chinese Diesel Heater for your winter truck camping trips something that can be set up and taken down ? Merry Christmas and happy new year
@@DrenalinAdventures they're definitely a game-changer one of the other truck camping guys I watch Keith Gee installed a portable all-in-one diesel heater for his setup you should definitely go check it out it'll get the wheels turning
Propane heaters don't generate CO, only H2O and CO2. The inherent danger with burning propane is O2 depletion - suffocation. Propane heaters have a very reliable low O2 sensor that shuts off the heater when the oxygen level falls to a level shy of dangerous. Yeah, and all that water vapor released in a confined space sucks.
I have a buddy heater, call me stupid, but I use mine all night. Then again my motorhome is pretty drafty too, I don't worry about CO2 to much. Tonight ots supposed to go down to -26C, yes its going to get cold.as for the mister buddy heater I don't worry about it, mine works fine. I like your set up, I got my motorhome for a good deal, but I should have checked out more.
Here in Texas where cold is 20-40 deg F, the buddy heater or a 1500/750 watt electric heater is overkill for such a confined space. I'm currently looking for a 500 watt electric heater. Question- How do you like the 20 inch wheels and stock tire size for off road? I had those exact same wheels on mine but not enough sidewall height for the rough stuff. Currently running 18 inch wheels now.
I mainly drive on abandoned logging roads in Ontario and sandy/mud roads in Michigan so I don’t have the sidewall issue. Just put on some General A/TXs and it’s been great.
Drenalin Adventures .. yes, I was very surprised how much it does.. the pilot light heats up the metal protector a bit which gives off a bit more heat.
Have a great holiday season. See you in 2021 😁
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Merry Christmas
Count me in
Sure slick that back extension. Wish I thought of that many many years ago!!!
Great setup, it’s nice when the vehicle feels like home away from home!!
Yes it is. Thanks for watching.

Glad you're enjoying my videos. Thanks.
I had a pickup topper camper setup. I had a similar 1500w cab heater that I could run while driving. The topper would be warm for a bit when I parked!
Thanks for the info!
Merry Christmas Scott
Thank you. You too.
Merry Christmas, no snow in Maine, heavy rain for Christmas.
Oh no! Well, make the most of it. Merry Christmas.
Harbor Freight moving blankets can be used to fill in the gaps.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year from me and my wife//Jonas
Thank you very much. Same to you!
I really like your extender idea! Makes me wish my Cherokee had a tail gate. lol
That would be cool!

Merry Xmas. You should look into the diesel heaters. Use very little fuel and electricity and safe if the exhaust is plumbed away.
That's a good idea. I believe the Wabaso(?) not sure of spelling, is used in vanlife quite a bit.

Love the music for the intro... it sounds familiar, is that from a Chris Ledoux song?
I don’t believe so.
Have you ever heard Johnson County War by Chris Ledoux? I knew I recognized it.
You need 30” clearance above your buddy heater. This design will collect water on top of the extension box. I know u say it doesn’t but it does.
I didn’t know air mattress would make you colder than foam. Thanks. Now I wonder if it’s cooler than foam in summer?
It absolutely is.
Subbed, looks like a great channel 👍 😀
Thanks 👍
You can purchase a 12 volt heating blanket from Truck stops or order one they don't use much electricity they were designed for truckers

You are correct. The point of the matter is that any combustible heat source is dangerous and that’s really the message I was trying to get across.
@@DrenalinAdventures I hate soggy.
What degree sleeping bag do you use?
-10 Celsius
Hi. New subscriber from New York City......curious as to what type of tires you are running on your truck. Thanks!!
General Grabber A/T X , thanks for your support 👍
could you link your canopy/rack setup? That's one thing I havent found that hasn't been linked! looking to do a similar setup!

So your sleeping bag keeps you warm all night without any heaters going at minus 20 c?
Hey Scott, how's the mattress in cold weather? I used a memory foam pillow once and it got hard as a rock!
It’s been good. Maybe some moisture got into your pillow and froze?
@@DrenalinAdventures no most memory foam gets really firm at cold temps. The one you have must not, so I think i'll try it out!
Mr heater didn't think propane had CO. Only water and uses oxygen. Safe indoors.
Celsius??? We use Fahrenheit here in America!
Dude that Mr buddy puts off so much condensation i had to get rid of it quick
I don't run it long enough to notice a moisture problem.
Drenalin Adventures .. I like to run mine with just the pilot light on most of the night
Do you find that creates a noticeable amount of heat?
Drenalin Adventures .. yes, I was very surprised how much it does.. the pilot light heats up the metal protector a bit which gives off a bit more heat.
I'm going to have to experiment with that. Thanks for the tip.
A mav look alike!
Where is Scout?
Sleeping, lol.
Very ingenious but an 8ft box would hav3 been a lot easier:)
