Some tips to building a Palworld base on uneven or unlevel ground. 0:00 Intro 0:43 Building bottom foundation 1:25 Building top level 2:40 Summary TLDR
This is the first video I've seen of someone actually telling how to build on uneven surfaces, so it got a thumbs up and this comment to get the algorithm to recognize it.
oh man, are you ever gonna hate-love dwarf fortress. the building is 100% grid based, and you "can" micromanage everything! .. but it's the most overwhelmingly complex chaotic game, to handle. pure joy...
Snapping in this game needs serious improvement, and the "object in path" needs to be a toggleable server setting. Just let us place whatever. Valheim did building so much better because it had so much less restriction.
Honestly, my biggest complaint about the game is that foundations dont snap to other structures and the collision detection is way too sensitive when placing everything used to form buildings. I hate gaps in my base. Whether theyre just ugly, or if they actually allow pals to get out. It would also be nice to be able to square off corners on hills. You should be able to place a foundation as long as its adjacent to two other foundations.
Grwat Video! I have an idea for how to get perfect angles, look at your compass when placing your first foundation. Align it to N,S,W,E and align when building.
This is crazy. I JUST built my new base at this exact location but just a bit more down as it was more flat there. This place is just beautiful and seems to be peaceful. I thought of building going up with multiple stairs, but i didnt want to bother with the hassle of trying to figure out where a stair would work.
I don't understand why the devs didn't allow you to stack foundations. It's a mechanic in EVERY building game. The same with how the gates don't snap to the walls. WTF? Hopefully, they address these issues in the future. Oh, and add a creative mode!
I have a light on the bottom of my monitor that is centered exactly. I go in between 2 foundations, line up their connecting edges with the light, and line up my cursor with the same line to get as straight as possible.
I basically did the same thing with different parts using the same concept of measuring and guessing. I felt doing it from the side was easier to see alignment but it's probably a personal preference or possibly the parts I used like I built downwards once using the walls and found out the platform has to be halfway through to get correct alignment.
My 3rd base is on top of a waterfall. The bridge over te stream did cost me an hour to make (foundations all around the lake) and still wouldn’t connect with 3 overlap. Then a big stairs down to the bottom of the waterfall only to see the AI walking in to the water. Totally unusable base but beautiful 💀
That's where this one ended up for me. Unfortunately bases and pals don't work well with multiple levels. Hope they change it cause there's some gorgeous landscapes!
So, it does have the blue boundary, anything outside the boundary is damaged over time, but our server disabled that in settings, so there's a little more building liberty.
the foundations are in the same "snap" ? I mean, can u build a ceiling all the all through all the foundations like on ARK, for example? if not how to do that?
Yeah, it's really just personal preference, this is just another option. Hopefully they add a snapping feature to make building multiple levels easier!
This is horrible for multi floor setup. The janky foundation placements are not really conisdered joined. Do this if you only want to have no 2nd story.

Appreciate it! Exactly why I posted something!
As someone with Death The Kid's tendencies for everything symmetrical...you have no idea how much this game STRESSES me the fk out
100% agree, i hope they allow for more sophisticated building in the future
Yeah just to allow us to connect foundations with top part of stairs
Let's hope the building mechanics get a snap lock mode
@@thefiftyyearoldfourtwentyg7377also allow an auto overhead view when building

100% agree, hope they add this in the future!
oh i was hoping you found a way to snap another foundation, i really hope they add that, thanks for the video!
Really dig the potential of this build. Gives off big Lord of the Rings vibes. Excited to see more.
ikr? I just hope they improve pals AI because right now they have issues with prioritizing tasks and glitching through levels.

Great tip!
MATE! this is genius, thanks for this !
Glad i could help!

Yeah, I actually started on the edge, then went to the flat area, and now back at the edge with a humble cottage and farm.
I also built a base a little lower on this hill than in the video. Great spot with a couple quartz nodes, a skill tree, and a few chests around.

Great video keep up the grind! 🙂🤙
hey love this location you choose I also wanted to build here and after watching your video I think I am going to !
I love this spot! Still tricky because of the uneven ground, but great view!

I had to subscribe this was like ark in the early days.
Put an arrow sticker where your N, E, S, W marker is will help you line up with upper foundations more easily.
That's a great idea, thanks!
Great video thank you!

Yeah, totally up to personal preference until they (hopefully) add multi-level snapping.

STARFIELD has the ability to HOVER over when building so u can see your alignment… they NEED to do this!!
Hopefully they have that on their roadmap.
Honestly foundations should snap to stairs and roofs and stuff
Hopefully it will someday, we could do so much more!
i like this man
I find lining up a foundation with a stair from the side much easier.
Yeah, hopefully they change it so it'll snap, but whatever works till then.
This beautiful :D
You're beautiful!
What a builder
❤❤❤
If you use the PHOTOmod it makes it way way easier when it comes to building separate foundations from stairs.
Good to know! I don't usually dip into mods much so that's a great tip.
How come I keep seeing all these giant bases without a blue boundry ring?
How do you eliminate or expand the ring?
So, it does have the blue boundary, anything outside the boundary is damaged over time, but our server disabled that in settings, so there's a little more building liberty.
@@spriggy5176 ah okay, thank you very much for the reply. 🤠
What are the arches on the upper floor? I've been using does and just leaving then open, but i don't see doors on yours. Is there a piece I'm missing?
No, same trick, but I let the doors open inward so they are less visible.
Fucking genius....
the foundations are in the same "snap" ?
I mean, can u build a ceiling all the all through all the foundations like on ARK, for example?
if not how to do that?
No snap yet, this is a cheap workaround that's kind of close until they add multi-level snapping.
Aaaaalgorythm, do you hear me.....?
Does this location have ores or coal spawns?
1 chest, ore kind of nearby, but it's really just for the view.
I was doing this going down from high foundation to lower, but going up my be easier...
Yeah, it's really just personal preference, this is just another option. Hopefully they add a snapping feature to make building multiple levels easier!
I'll just wait until they improve the building mechanics, so I don't have to be bothered by this.
Totally get that.
Why do you want to go from higher to lover when building stairs?
Just a preference, really just do whatever helps you until they add multi-level snapping.
@@spriggy5176 You mentioned that everyone says to do it so I thought it's something important. TY for answering.
Can you share the location for this?
180,431. It's got an awesome view and isn't cold, love this area!

Agree, this is only if you must, hopefully the game will allow multi-level snapping in the future.
"it is not easy."
not for me then
