I honestly don't blame Sony if you got all these guys out here stupid enough to pay $700 for a console just going to eventually cost over a grand if you want a disk drive stand and extra controller then they deserve to get raked over the coals i play all first party PlayStation 5 games on a steam deck anywhere I want God of war Ragnarok drops this thursday let those suckers spend all that cash 😅😅😅
Yeah I certainly get that there's so much loss from trading money right especially since that's Great British pounds to yen or whatever because Sony I think is Japanese or Chinese
What gets me is the fact that this "pro" console has net negatives. The Switch OLED got criticized by many for being an unimpressive upgrade, and many passed on the PS4 Pro. However, both of those console were objective upgrades, there was zero downsides. The PS5 Pro lacks the stand and disc drive, they took stuff AWAY and not little tiny things. The literal primary way to USE THE CONSOLE was taken away. I do not want to hear "Oh everything is going digital anyway!" That does not matter. Sony committed to the disc drive for the PS5 generation. You have just been given the "finger" if you dared invest in your consoles PRIMARY use, DOUBLY so if you're an existing PS4 customer who also spent the generation amassing many physical games (Me in this case.) Putting that extra cost on the customer on top of the $700 tag? Absurd, plain and simple.
It's not like when the games look better they even look any better. If you took away the on screen labels, I wouldn't be able to tell you which gameplay is more expensive.
@@lilwyvern4 Honestly if you game on a big 4K TV you will be able to see the difference easily. RUclips compression and watching threw whatever screen you have doesn't show it.

Sony thinks theyre Apple. They are indeed not Apple. Gaming is now their clear #1 profit driven business and they're making the same mistakes they made in the past. The people who were leading the company during the PS3 times are now gone, so the success allowed the hubris to return.
They were making the same mistake of the past. And they still doing them. Because the ps5 was just as overprice as the pro for the time and just as usseless and ppl buy it on the millions.
PlayStation unlike Nintendo makes a loss on every console sold. It's just bad planning and tone deaf, I do not know if it's greedy, until we get a proper scale on how much they lose on developing this specific system
@@elcalabozodelandroide2 It wasn't really that overpriced. There was definitely a reasonable jump in the graphical/performance capability from PS4 Pro to PS5. The problem was how the cost of everything skyrocketed around that time while at the same time Sony made very little true exclusives for the console (a lot was either made available on PS4 or PC later on). When you factor in this Pro pricetag plus the lack of content, it doesn't bode well for them with this. If they had done anything else to incentivize people to buy it, include the disc drive/stand, make this console backward compatible to every previous Sony console, new exclusive games, SOMETHING, this backlash wouldn't be as bad as it is.

I just think it is a baffling decision to make a pro model when the market hasn’t even fully moved on from the PS4 generation. The price increase isn’t too unreasonable tbh, inflation is a b*tch
They haven't gone up enough, but in 2014 I went from making $9/hour to $15/hour by getting a better job and it was life changing. Now most basic jobs pay $15 and I make $25/hour or more as a Lyft driver. Still, prices have gone up so much that $25/hour is still barely enough.
Even adjusting for inflation the PS5 is the third most expensive console released between Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and SEGA. So it's not just an inflation thing
you gotta 700 dollars and you don't even get a stand to put it on XD that's pretty funny. Sony just wants the money to make up for Concord and it's so obvious.
It's not much different from the base PS5 or the PS4, technically, although the PS4 was rather a different situation because it can safely rest on end without a stand if needed...
tbh i doubt nintendo would make it 400, its prob gonna be like 350,nintendo tends to use slightly weaker hardware to compensate for lower costs, and they make up for lower power with banger exclusives.
First it was the massive failure of Concord, then it was the incredible success of Astro Bot, and now it’s the huge backlash of the PS5 Pro’s price. This all happened in such a short period of time. Sony can’t seem to catch a break.
At first I was sort of like "eh, seems neat I guess, I'll pick it up for the extra performance." Then there was revealed to not have a disc drive. Then it was revealed to be 700 FUCKING DOLLARS. As someone who pretty exclusively uses physical game discs, this is absolutely idiotic. I can't believe how badly they fumbled the bag with this thing compared to the PS4 Pro.
Yeah, $80 for a addable disc drive? So $780 before tax? Even if the system came with the disc drive built in, $700 is too much. There are really no upgrades, only downgrades. I can buy 4TB more storage for my PS5 original for WAY less than this heap of junk costs and my PS5 original will be vastly superior to the PS5 Pro.
It's so weird how they never learn. Company does well, gets too big for their britches, then another company swoops in and eats their lunch. Sony did this with the PS3, then capitalized on the XBox One doing anti-consumer stuff, and now they're back to doing it again themselves.
They didn't do it with the PS3 and am not sure they are doing it now ether. You people think that whenever they ask a big price is because they are arrogant and not because of their financials.
See, this is why I'm Nintendo + PC for life. PC for all of the high-end multi-plats as well as PC VR, then Nintendo for all of its exclusives. Done deal.
I can't help but be reminded of a similar stumble from Sega. Back in the day, they had released the 32x add on and Sega CD. Both cost an arm and a leg. Both flopped. Both were meant to extend the lifespan of the Genesis/Megadrive. Just seeing some parallels, is all.
Corporate Guy 1: "But what if we raised prices on everything until everyone was broke?" Corporate Guy 2: "My god, we'll make so much money!" Intern: "..who will buy our stuff if everyone is bankrupt?" Corporate Guy 1: "Someone fire that intern."
The price being batshit is one thing, not being able to properly sell the thing is another. Like I am the target demographic for the Pro. I buy most exclusives, have PS plus premium, buy console refreshes, and am even digital only. And yet I have no desire to buy this. You have to zoom in on PS4 games to even show a difference. What are we doing???
You arent the target demographic. You said nothing about the main feature they advertised which was smooth 60 FPS for all games with no need to use lower graphics. You are happy playing on PS4. There are many people that want better FPS, thats the entire PC market
@@chiquita683 Your justification is that “some people want to pay $700 for better fps”, which is true, but not enough people will pay that much for it to be considered a lucrative release by Sony

@@targaryen7029 yes but whatever Sony does doesn’t really effect Nintendo in the slightest Nintendo have there own target demographic that is completely different to Sony
I went through the list of “ps5 exclusives” yesterday and deleted everything that’s on PC or PS4 cross platform and ended up with six games. SIX. Seven hundred dollars to upgrade SIX games, games which, if you have disks of them, YOU CANT PLAY ON PRO. They are NUTS dude
And half of those are either already confirmed to come to PC eventually or likely to. To be fair it's still more than the 0 exclusive Xbox Series X games. This gen as a whole has just been a huge flop. There's been a wealth of great games but nothing yet that actually justifies the new hardware, and Sony is pushing even STRONGER hardware?
This is exactly why I don't own either an Xbox Series X/S or a PS5 and have stuck with Nintendo. Yes, the Switch has weaker hardware as has been said ad-verbatim, but unlike the Xbox and PS5 the Switch has a ton games that I actually want to play.
I don't know why Sony thinks this will eliminate fidelity/performance modes. They're not the product of an underpowered system, they're the product of devs' design philosophy.
Mark Cerny highlighted himself how Devs are going for fidelity while players want performance So, why again are they going for fidelity? Just confuses me
Sony must be so confused like "they dont want a live service hero shooter? They want a cute 3D platformer?" "They dont want a more powerful high resolution and framerate PS5?"
I was over the graphics chase during ps2/GCN era. No more weird blocks of pixels you needed a manual to tell you what it was. You knew what you were looking at, and with artistic vision it looked good. Time to focus on making fun games. It took most others until recently, but i think most people now agree. The graphics are serviceable. Time to start focus on fun games, that aren’t a buggy mess at release. What I don’t understand is why aren’t the companies ready to focus on other things besides graphics? Chasing realism means everything has to be a hit or studios get closed. It’s too expensive to keep chasing realism, and for all the millions more it costs the results are negligible.
Once you reach HD the differences seem minimal. There was more difference between N64 & GameCube than between PS3 & PS5. Also there is more to realism than just what you can see, why don't we get something we can smell, taste, or physically feel? Sword Art Online must terrify console manufacturers.
Art Style is more important than graphical fidelity. Real Life looks like shit, not matter how fast the framerate or how high the pixel count, so why do y'all want to make games look like real life?
3:10 I find it very interesting that we as a vocal userbase are both championing for games to be on more platforms but when they are, we point it out as a flaw. This is completely unrelated to the fact PS5 Pro is $700, which is ridiculous.
The sadder thing is that all this advancement in technology only serves to make trailers look nice. No complex physics engines, no innovative ideas that can sprout/influence into another genres, hell, there aren't any new genres besides 3rd person "experiences" that most fans just watch on RUclips. But, the industry has become more mature, folks.
That’s more a problem with having to support the weaker machines. You can’t do anything interesting that won’t scale down to those weaker machines. Graphics are fairly easy to scale though. I wouldn’t downplay how important graphics are to the video gaming experience either though.
It’s because they’re chasing the Uber casual audience that wouldn’t care or notice those things, or even be put off by their complexity. Not hardcore gamers. The problem is that those people are fine playing COD and FIFA on a base PS5 or even still PS4s sometimes
@@pliatWhy not? Is it too demanding on the system? Back in 2004 Half-Life 2 was able to have some of the best graphics of the time with a great physics engine, so what changed?

It's just Sony having profit issues due to increase spending that destroyed their margins. Jim Ryan and his acquisitions and investing went hard and without a rubber.
The main problem is their promises that are never delivered. I have the PS5 and a small 4K TV, but none of the AAA games out there run at 4K 60 FPS. It's madness to burn 700 on promises considering this scenario.
The most outrageous aspect of the price gauging with inflation is that these companies acknowledge that it effects their profits, they increase the prices of their products and yet don’t increase their employees pay. Disgraceful.

There's exactly 21 PS5 exclusives. In the case someone happens to want to play them all, it's $700 + 21x$70 = $2170. This means in this best case scenario, you pay each game $2170/21 = $103. If you buy a PS5 Pro for only 10 exclusives for example, it's $217 per game. On Switch for example, I have 16 games, some were $30 or less, other were $70, so let's assume $60 per game. Total price paid is $300 + 16x$60 = $1260 so each game is $79.
yeah like I feel like console generations are going to get dramatically longer because there's simply no point in even releasing a new console at this point when the visuals are not going to look meaningfully better for a *long* time. We've reached the point of diminishing returns where even if a piece of hardware is 2x, 5x, 10x stronger than the last generation, if you can't convey the difference in graphics because of basic video compression, then it's just not worth it to upgrade

An age is coming to an end. We have enjoyed very low prices for a while, but now, for many reasons ranging to the situation in China to global trade of the natural resources needed for consumer electronics shifting, prices are going to go up. This is, sadly, unavoidable. Corporate greed, while definitely a factor, is actually only a fraction of the problem. And I could see that firsthand by working in tech for years. Owning several consoles could become unaffordable for most people. ...again. Yes. Again. because it very much was that way when I was a kid. Only rich people or children of engineers had consoles in the early days. And then came a phase where one console was avaialable to most people, but still quite a "big purchase". I think we will, in some ways, "regress" to that time when video games were more of a luxury than they have become in the last decade. Humans can't create silicon and rare eath materials out of thin air, so a part of this problem is theorically impossible to avoid, even if all business execs in the world turned into angels instantly and suddenly. But there is a silver lining, at least : free to play games designed to "get playtime out of you" with daily grinds and all this stuff? They will become more rare. in this new normal, they will be unsustainable. Except maybe for some established titans like counter-strike or LOL. But new creations will have to move away from that model. I know you basically rant against those arguments at the end of your video, and that you think they are "wrong". But in the end, money talks. Consoles were often sold at a loss during the last decades, with the licensing fees making up for it. ...And this model is also cracking right now. Our desires as gamers mean nothing in front of those systemic changes. Sadly, that's just how reality works.
@@5095smfI think that is not hard. The target audience for the new PS5 must be small. Final fantasy in the beginning got 6 games in the length of time it took to get from 15-16. Then there's Capcom and the amount of Megaman games they were able to crank out. Naughty dog was able to make crash 1-3 and CTR in the span of 4 years and despite being all on the same console, all offered vastly unique experiences.
It's almost $900 in Europe. Add a disc drive on the side and we are probably at $1,000 It's absolutely ridiculous. Two things that worries me more than anything here tho Not supporting physical media by default is a HUGE red flag. Especially for a console being marketed as the ultimate version. But what worries me more is that it feels like Sony is taking a big step towards trying to phase out physical media as a whole. Like, will the PS6 even have one... Even an optiional add-on? Also, if Sony feel they can charge freaking €799 for a castrated mid-gen console, just how much will they eventually be charging in a few years for an actual next gen PS6? Dark times are ahead of us
The euro getting weaker the last few years, the sales tax being much higher in EU and Sony margins due to Jim Ryan bad spending being so bad that they can't absorb any loss created that. I call that the big three showing their value right there.
This more of PS Vita playbook, stuff like a having to purchase a Vita Memory card instead of just a normal SD card like the 3ds and not including one with one is why the Vita failed. The PS5 pro is going to fail for the same reason, why do we have to purchase a disk drive separately instead just being included up front? Also the price is a killer too.
At least that time they were giving us a genuine leap in graphics and full backwards compatibility with PS1 and 2. Now we're paying even MORE money for a largely unnoticeable leap and no disk drive.

All you need to defeat the inflation argument are two words. Price Elasticity Luxury items do not go up at the same rate as essential goods for a reason...because they are not essential goods.
While I wouldn't be caught dead paying $800 for a Playstation, Arlo fundamentally doesn’t understand inflation beyond "It seems unfair to me." "My money is worth less AND I have to spend more?" Yeah well they're not going to.
Completely agree. Im also not buying the PS5 Pro but it's a big misunderstanding of inflation and whats going on at a macro scale. Does the comment section not understand that Sony is also affected by inflation? Thats also why the console costs even more in Japan, because the Yen is losing value. It is costing more dollars to run the business. Yes, your dollars are worth less which means Sony's dollars are worth less, and wages havent kept up. That is what is going on.
@@Melonhome_yt Corporations are not affected by inflation in the same degree that people are. Why? Because salaries don't match inflation. That hurts people that can buy less but the corporation gets to pay less valuable salaries for the same work. People have no mitigation.
@Melonhome_yt I think people just get mad about having to spend so much more, which is understandable and I do too. But then they just look to the companies that are charging more and blame them. For the health of the industry moving forward this thing should flop and really hard, Concord-style. It's such a dangerous precedent to take hold: the pricing, the nefarious digital-only base console trend forced upon the consumers, the largely inconsequential technological upgrades, establishing such a hefty lower price point for the PS6, etc. If the PS5 Pro is successful by any metric and Sony executives become convinced that they can get away with this BS, it will be over. And if Microsoft doesn't go full third party, they will follow suit as well, mark my words. And for the record, I'm a Nintendo-only gamer but I also care about the industry as a whole and the gamer community as well
Yeah. We're gonna have to see how the casual market reacts. And by casual, I mean people disconnected from the conversation. All of us know this is BS and wouldn't pay for it, but people who are just looking for the next upgrade and don't participate in online discourse definitely will. I imagine a lot of Fifa and CoD players will be upgrading.
If you look at the list of PS2 and PS3 games you can definitely tell that production cratered. It's just gotten to the point that companies only put out a handful of big titles each year, mostly the same franchises.
In New Zealand this thing costs NZ$1380 (console) + NZ$169 (disc drive) + NZ$54 (stand). That's NZ$1603 or US$984 (all our consumer prices include tax because we're not an absolutely ridiculous place). Right now you can get a PS5 Slim with disc drive for NZ$798 (on sale at JB Hi-Fi). That doesn't include a stand but if it did the PS5 Pro would be literally more than double the price.
Oh by the way in Australia the base digital PS5 is $700, disc drive is $800 and I can’t even fathom how much this one is going to cost upon release probably at least $1000. I still haven’t bought a PlayStation five because the price is too steep, i absolutely will not be buying a Pro.
The issue isn't even necessarily the cost. If this was equal to a high-end gaming PC (it isn't) it wouldn't be an issue. The issue is that it's only marginally less expensive up-front than a PC with equivalent specs (Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon 7700 XT), and if you pay for PS +, a disc drive, a vertical stand, etc, the gap closes even further. The entire point of a console is that you get a great deal on the hardware up front, but you make up for it by paying to play online, paying more for games and getting less freedom than what a PC offers. That's very clearly not happening here. I think Sony is testing the waters to see what they can get away with when they're deciding on the PlayStation 6's price.
There are extra costs with building a PC that you aren't including also. Most people already have TVs that they can hook a game console into. For a PC you've got to buy a monitor, buy a nice gaming mouse, probably buy a computer desk and find space for all that somewhere in your house. The electricity usage of a gaming PC is also much higher than of a gaming console. Then you're supposed to do a lot of regular maintenance and cleaning of the PC which I've never needed to do with a console. And if you intend on keeping a gaming PC for many years then you will most likely be replacing individual parts several times so you could easily end up spending 2500-4000+ for this PC that's equivalent to a PS5.

@@SantaFeSuperChief1 They are but not because of Concord exclusively but generally Jim Ryan expenditure. Their margins have been extremely low. PS5 was making 10 times the money they made before and yet the profits weren't rising because the expenses rose as well by Jim Ryan spending huge amounts on trying to create a live service gaming network in Sony buying Bungie(that gave no profits) buying Firewalk(we saw how that ended) investing in big The Last of US and Spiderman live service games(that got cancelled) etc. Now the Japanese CEO put his foot down and said "no wasted money, margins needs to increase" and they can't afford to subsidize the Pro to promote it so they have to sell it as is with all the cost payed by customer.
ive heard reports that no, not all games on ps5 pro will be 4k 60fps. only some games will have that but many just wont be. im sure there will be further optimisations by the devs before its release, but oh boy. also, what is that pricing for the UK???? its so much more expensive for the UK. if normal conversion rates apply, the UK price should be: £536 based on US pricing £674 based on the Euro pricing £651 based on japanese pricing but no, its actual price is £700, over £150 more than the US price converted (yes converting cost isnt that easy but you get the idea), like cmon man.
The thing that really blows me away is the price in Japan (120,000 yen). Before COVID inflation, that would have been somewhere around $1,200, and that's without taking into account wage differences between countries. No one is going to buy this thing.
The real issue isn't limited to just the cost. This generation has refused to kill off software for PS4 and Xbone, which makes the rate of adoption lower than it should be, for starters. Sure, the old *consoles* may be out of production, but half of (at least PS4) gamers still haven't made the jump. Then, there's the issue of no gimmick outside of a smoother framerate and higher resolutions simultaneously, this time. PS4 Pro and the Xbox One X at least had 4K support thanks to the sudden massive adoption of 4K TVs. 8K gaming is a pipe dream that they can just put on the box as a marketing blip, let's be real. Also, unlike the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, PS5 Pro isn't even getting a RAM increase (afaik). The last issue *_does_* have to do with cost, and yep, it's that disc drive. Those of us like myself that have an original PS5 with the "permanently-attached" disc slot (and >90% of our games on disc) would be SOL there if we decided to upgrade, because even if you forgo the vertical stand, that's $780 pre-tax, for a machine that has a mere *_20 games_* as only console-exclusive at best. $5 price increase on DualSense worldwide, massive price increases in Japan, and now, a PS5 Pro that has no standard disc drive like a "pro" console quite frankly should, for $700, when a UHD Blu-ray drive is something like $20-$30 to manufacture at worst. The bigger takeaway here is that it seems like arrogant, pre-PS3-era Sony is back. As far as the PS5 Pro is concerned, the PS4 Pro was something like 20% of all PS4s sold up until the end of its availability. But with no 4K TV support-equivalent marketing hook, this time, my prediction is it'll be lucky to be 20%, and I'm thinking it'll amount to 1-in-8 or even just 10% of all PS5s sold at the end of the generation.
A large portion of the buying audience doesn't even have a tv that takes advantage of the ps5 let alone a pro version. 4k tvs are in about 44% of homes in US people haven't moved on from the xbox one and ps4 because plenty of people still think those games look decent on their screens and the next gen aside from the series S prices just aren't worth what's not a huge upgrade to the average person. How a decent amount of gamers feel about the ps5 pro is how many average casual gamers feel about the current gen. They feel like unneeded upgrades and not necessary purchases. Imo the only current gen system that feels like a good buy for the average person is the Series S. The ps5 felt like a hot item during covid, but I know many people who rushed to get one and it just collects dust now or their only playing ps4 games on it. I'm just a casual gamer myself and this feels like Sony is just going after whales and leaving the casual consumer behind now gaming in general feels like it's going that way except for Nintendo
@@juwangiddens8186 I was saying something similar yesterday. Basically, that Sony (and the broader gaming space) are trying so hard to cater specifically to the niche hardcore gamer audience who probably only plays on PC anyway, when in reality, most of the people who buy these consoles are normies who don't care about framerates and graphics that much. I played Spider-Man 2 primarily in Fidelity Mode, which capped the framerate at around 40, and you know what? I still had a blast with it. I also play on PC on a 165hz monitor, and let me tell you: Maybe I just need new glasses, but I can't see much of an improvement once the framerate goes past 60. I also spend a lot of time playing my Switch, and for as underpowered and pathetic that console's specs are, I still have a good time playing the amazing exclusives on that. Maybe we, as gamers, need to remember that framerates and graphics aren't everything. Sure, I think a solid 60 FPS is a must if it's a highly-competitive online shooter, or an intensive action-y hack-and-slash, or anything that's extremely fast-paced. But anything else? People gave Thousand Year Door Remake a lot of crap for only running at 30 FPS, but if you're playing a turn-based RPG, is it really the end of the world if it only runs at 30 FPS?

Sony must be so confused like "they dont want a live service hero shooter? They want a cute 3D platformer?" "They dont want a more powerful high resolution and framerate PS5?"
I think at this point most gamers are over high fidelity graphics. They just want something that looks nice enough with great gameplay.

There's exactly 21 PS5 exclusives. In the case someone happens to want to play them all, it's $700 + 21x$70 = $2170. This means in this best case scenario, you pay each game $2170/21 = $103.
If you buy a PS5 Pro for only 10 exclusives for example, it's $217 per game.
On Switch for example, I have 16 games, some were $30 or less, other were $70, so let's assume $60 per game. Total price paid is $300 + 16x$60 = $1260 so each game is $79.

Crazy to think we got 3 Uncharted games and the Last of Us on one console. Now it feels like a miracle to get sequel to a game in the same generation.
It's almost baffling how long game development is taking nowadays. Maybe it's just the boomer gamer in me but back in the days of old we were getting new IPs and sequels to them back to back.
Add a disc drive on the side and we are probably at $1,000
It's absolutely ridiculous.
Two things that worries me more than anything here tho
Not supporting physical media by default is a HUGE red flag. Especially for a console being marketed as the ultimate version.
But what worries me more is that it feels like Sony is taking a big step towards trying to phase out physical media as a whole.
Like, will the PS6 even have one... Even an optiional add-on?
Also, if Sony feel they can charge freaking €799 for a castrated mid-gen console,
just how much will they eventually be charging in a few years for an actual next gen PS6?
Dark times are ahead of us
Honestly I am not surprised at all. Sony has always been an underhanded, greedy company.
It gets event crazier when you see the €800 price tag which is $880.
Truly the final form of the PayStation 5
It’s like that in Australia too (AU$1200 = ~US$800). US$700 is insane and yet somehow it’s even cheaper than most other countries
The euro getting weaker the last few years, the sales tax being much higher in EU and Sony margins due to Jim Ryan bad spending being so bad that they can't absorb any loss created that.
I call that the big three showing their value right there.
This entire thing had me flashing back to 2006.
But this time You'll get to play a *good* Sonic game on your overpriced console
This more of PS Vita playbook, stuff like a having to purchase a Vita Memory card instead of just a normal SD card like the 3ds and not including one with one is why the Vita failed.
The PS5 pro is going to fail for the same reason, why do we have to purchase a disk drive separately instead just being included up front? Also the price is a killer too.
At least that time they were giving us a genuine leap in graphics and full backwards compatibility with PS1 and 2.
Now we're paying even MORE money for a largely unnoticeable leap and no disk drive.
this is like a more hellish version of the PS3 because the PS5 only gets one exclusive game every like 6 months

it's $914 for us in the UK. As for timing, it was 3 years between 2013 and 16 for the pro. But we have an issue now where graphics is basically done. I'm not saying games today don't overall have better fidelity etc, but it's diminishing returns and the ps5 pro is ridiculous for the price and how little you get out of it, it's basically just the ps5 performance mode with ps5 resolution mode mixed together and made slightly better
And something not enough people are talking about is the cost for non US countries, there's only a few official price listings so far, but the UK has got it the worst with it being £700, as stated that's the same as $914usd, plus £80 ($100) for a disc drive, plus more for a stand. All you need to defeat the inflation argument are two words. Price Elasticity
Luxury items do not go up at the same rate as essential goods for a reason...because they are not essential goods.
While I wouldn't be caught dead paying $800 for a Playstation, Arlo fundamentally doesn’t understand inflation beyond "It seems unfair to me."
"My money is worth less AND I have to spend more?" What do you mean "and?" If your money is worth less you will exclusively have to pay more, that is the only way that will ever work. "But Sony should just make less money!" Yeah well they're not going to.
So Sony gets affected by inflation in things they buy, like chips from AMD etc but they still get away with now basically paying their employees less and mitigate some of that damage.
People have no mitigation.
@Melonhome_yt I think people just get mad about having to spend so much more, which is understandable and I do too. But then they just look to the companies that are charging more and blame them. That's not the cause of inflation, the government printing like 50% of all the money that's ever been printed in all of American history in the last 4 years is the cause of inflation.

It’s genuinely painful whenever he tries to talk about economics, he knows aggressively little but still gets on his high horse.
Naw, I was just making a joke about the mayonnaise.
And for the record, I'm a Nintendo-only gamer but I also care about the industry as a whole and the gamer community as well
Well the price is already done, ppl bought from scalpers, so sony saw what is accepted...
The "PS3 has no games" meme dropped two generations too early.

The message is clear: Concord will return in 4k!!
(that’s the year the machines will dig it up from the desert).
The moment that Sony started forcing people to log into PSN just to play their games instead of letting them be purchasable in a lot of countries with the moment that I knew something was wrong at Sony.
It used to be the main benefit of consols was that they were cheap, but at $700... pretty sure you can get a halfway decent gaming PC for that price
Yep you can, and it would be as good as the PS5 but with double the RAM and all the extras a PC gives you.
