You can do that with a Pixel or any android phone with an LED notification light. there is an app called light flow which allows to fully control and custmize your LED. I have set my charging light to be red and when it reach 95%, it turns green. you can even set a sound when you (plug in /out) the cable.

From an owner of an iPhone 7, I've been an apple fan for a long time but now I started to like Samsung more. It is more cheaper, I've always been a fan of the curved edges in the edge models, and I like the colors of it. And also that 1440p display while the iPhone 7 can go up to 720p. I don't hate Apple all that but Apple should start catching up with its competitors or shit will go lose in Apple.
No, its not cheaper. If you go to Samsung's official website, the msrp for the Galaxy S7 is still $672. Where as the iPhone 7 on Apple's official website, the msrp is $649. Also, although the battery is larger on the S7 and charges faster, the iPhone battery actually LASTS longer due to software optimization. Samsung is overrated and bloated with all kinds of hardware to make up for the shitty Android OS. I am not biased, I had a Galaxy S6 Edge and an S7. The phones work great for 6 months then they slowly start going to shit. OS upgrades come dead last and the battery lifetime is way less than an iPhone.

good test nothing unfair about it. but fyi the fast charger for the pixel is only 9v where Samsung is 12v. I work with batteries every day I am a technician for battery powered products. I highly recommend using a slower charger to preserve the life of your batteries on day to day charging. the pixel has the best middle ground fast charger because its still fast but doesn't force so much all at once. That said I still recommend getting a 5v 2.5 amp charger for day to day use and save your quick charger for when your truly desperate to charge up. not only is it safer but your battery will stay at peak performance for years to come! That's to many steps lol I have a mother and a grandmother that both use Samsung phones (nothing against Samsung really!) But if it's something in settings that they have to go through sub menus for they ask me. Unless your a teen poking around in the settings menu people won't even know that setting exists until you tell them. I was hoping some kind of pop-up that offered fast or normal charging when connected to a fast charger.
It tells information about fast charging or normal and how long it will last but i think it would be annoying if there is a pop up every time charging but anyway its so easy to find in settings and even if you dont find just tap search button and you will find everything... 😂

Look guys fast charging is cool and all. But ask anyone who knows a fast charge at 12v 2 amps or 5v 9amps is going to get the battery hotter and less life span over a period of time. If u change your phone every year then fast charge away my brothers and sisters. If your going to try and keep a phone for a few years then 5v 1 amp is the way to go. Just my 2 pennies it's your phone do what you want. P.s the iPhone Android debate is old. Buy what u like. They all work great.

rmp5s I don't know how accurate this is I have a 7 plus and it takes about an hour and a half for mine to fully charge and it can go a maximum of 2 days without charging for minimum usage.

All I know is that my 6p's battery life is ok for the most part...I usually get 4-4.5 hours of screen on time with normal use...but being able to plop it on the charger for 20 minutes and be good to go for a night out or whatever, no problem, is SUPER convenient. And this doesn't even have wireless charging OR the newest quick charging tech... Apple needs to step their game up. Big time.

Adam Mckeithan I've used both as well. Lemme tell you, the performance difference is insignificant through my daily usage. Speed tests in general are a fan boy's tool to attack other brands. I love the freedom on my note 4 rather than ios on my iphone 6s which looks like easy mode in Android.. just dreadfully ugly.

The S7 Edge lasts nearly twice as long as the iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus lasts a little longer than the Google Pixel XL. For instance, when playing a game like Pokemon Go at 100% brightness, the iPhone 7 Plus died after barely 4 hours whereas the galaxy S7 Edge still had 58% battery left even though the Samsung has a much brighter display. iPhone 7 Plus is very bad at battery life. Last year iPhone 6S Plus does waaaaaaaay better.
Kameel I seriously doubt that, my wife has the S7 Edge and I have the iPhone 7 and she's always struggling with battery and so was I when I had the Note5 and my son with his Note7. Samsung phones do charge much quicker, but they also do not last as long.

Great video! Having owned both the iPhone 7 Plus and currently the Galaxy S7 Edge, you really had to test with the iPad charger. It really gives the Samsung a good run for its money in the charging department. Anybody who owns an iPhone 7 Plus needs to invest $19 in the iPad charger. I got rid of the iPhone 7 Plus due to it's awful Intel modem, that comes on the T-Mobile/AT&T variants. Loved the phone but and really enjoying the Samsung. In fact, I do a lot of email and texting, and the Swiftkey app and haptic feedback during typing are a revelation. I was originally going to go back to the iPhone when the iPhone 8 comes out in the Fall, but am pretty smitten with the S7 Edge.
But which battery will last longer, overall? Yes, the S7 Edge will charge faster, but the heat generated from fast charging will kill the lithium ion cells over time. I would rather take care of my phone's battery via a slower charge, ensuring that I will keep my device for many years.

The iPhone Plus charging does take longer to charge but I must say my battery lasts a very long time. Starting my day at 7AM. Using it regularly all day (browsing the internet, RUclips, texting, calling etc) and by 6PM it is still at 75-80% battery remaining is impressive. This is my first iPhone and I gotta say I'm happy with my switch after owning a Lumia 1020, S6 Edge, Lumia 950XL and a Xperia Z5.

Peichen01 That is empirically proven not true. I own my Nexus 6 for over a year now and its battery hasn't worn out yet. It charges quite fast, about an hour I guess, and lasts long - about 5 hours of screen on time with 20 percent left. I hope that clears it up for you. And I have tweaked the kernel, so that's a main factor, some people use their device without knowing what they use. 😐
Kevin C. If you tweaked the kernel that's no longer a Nexus 6 is it? If your tweak lowers max clock, limits background process, change charging profile it could make it last longer or shorter.
Peichen01 Tweaks done to the kernel don't change the hardware they're done on, which is the Nexus 6. I didn't lower the frequency or limit the amount of background processes. But that doesn't matter anyway, what matters is the fact that the battery doesn't wear out in a year. I have the proof and wanted to clear it up for you. Thanks for acknowledgement.

I don't know where and how he's doing this test but my iPhone 7 plus charges to 100 percent around and hour and 40 minutes and can last me 2 days with moderate use compared to my stupid iPhone 6 that drained within 3 hours ( think the battery got damaged or something).
Charging speed on the iPhone 7 Plus is very slow but no need to recharge it until we sleep so it's not important at the final ! Don't forget that the original charger is just 1A. Try to use a 2A charger and you will a difference !

These numbers are missing something. Im not saying your results are false, but I replicated the exact same test you did with my personal Pixel XL. I put engaged airplane mode and started at 1% and after 30 min im at 45%!!
when the battey is new it takes more time to charge .. i know your pixel is not old but alot of use affects the bettery makes it lose capacity and so charge faster but that's not good.
Higher end android phones have multiple phases in their charging process. I can tell you my s7 edge charges super fast until 80% then slows down to "trickle charge" protect the battery. I am guessing the Pixel XL does something similar to protect its battery. I am a little jealous of your phone even if the charging and battery capacity is lower

An important detail that wasn't mentioned in the video is that the iPhone takes more than twice as long to charge even a smaller battery than the S7. S7: 40mAh/min and iPhone 13mAh/min. The S7 charges allmost 4 times as fast. That's insane.

iPhone actually charges when the battery is 0% but after it reach about 5-10% of battery, the iPhone will turn on automatically. Android phones need to be manually turned on if you started charging from 0%.

As someone who has both phones, the 7 Plus lasts a lot longer than the S7 Edge when you're actually using it. I basically have to live with the battery whenever I use the S7 Edge, but I can leave my battery at home for about half the entire day when I use the iPhone. That being said, there are a couple of things I like better on both phones. It all boils down to preference in the end.
Put it in low battery mode and then test it again maybe? the plus model consumes a lot of power I guess, plus this is a 5W charger, try the 12W charger and tell us the results.
Seriously They were talking of a type of fast charging and it has SD821.... Another flaw in the pixel. No FF speakers, No Water resistance, no sd card, no QC 3.0.. Too many for such an expensive device.
There are lots of factors on charging. The most important one is what kind of Extension Lead did you use? Was it plugged to the wall or to another one? Do the same test with Wall charging? I can tell that what they are advertising is usually wall charging. On top of that there are couple of features that havent been used in this demonstration. Maybe the Nougat device wasnt in deep sleep. (which turns off everything to charge) iPhone is already self explainatory. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge doesnt surprise me since its still using MicroUSB to charge. The USB-C is still a start up and only the Dash Charging has a lead on it. (with their Oneplus 3/3T) I would suggest to do individual tests with Wall charging. Regardless that I am happy with the results. :)

No, its not cheaper. If you go to Samsung's official website, the msrp for the Galaxy S7 is still $672. Where as the iPhone 7 on Apple's official website, the msrp is $649. Also, although the battery is larger on the S7 and charges faster, the iPhone battery actually LASTS longer due to software optimization. Samsung is overrated and bloated with all kinds of hardware to make up for the shitty Android OS. I am not biased, I had a Galaxy S6 Edge and an S7. The phones work great for 6 months then they slowly start going to shit. OS upgrades come dead last and the battery lifetime is way less than an iPhone.

I work with batteries every day I am a technician for battery powered products.
I highly recommend using a slower charger to preserve the life of your batteries on day to day charging. the pixel has the best middle ground fast charger because its still fast but doesn't force so much all at once.
That said I still recommend getting a 5v 2.5 amp charger for day to day use and save your quick charger for when your truly desperate to charge up. not only is it safer but your battery will stay at peak performance for years to come!

I have a mother and a grandmother that both use Samsung phones (nothing against Samsung really!) But if it's something in settings that they have to go through sub menus for they ask me. Unless your a teen poking around in the settings menu people won't even know that setting exists until you tell them. I was hoping some kind of pop-up that offered fast or normal charging when connected to a fast charger.
It tells information about fast charging or normal and how long it will last but i think it would be annoying if there is a pop up every time charging but anyway its so easy to find in settings and even if you dont find just tap search button and you will find everything... 😂

Look guys fast charging is cool and all. But ask anyone who knows a fast charge at 12v 2 amps or 5v 9amps is going to get the battery hotter and less life span over a period of time. If u change your phone every year then fast charge away my brothers and sisters. If your going to try and keep a phone for a few years then 5v 1 amp is the way to go. rmp5s I don't know how accurate this is I have a 7 plus and it takes about an hour and a half for mine to fully charge and it can go a maximum of 2 days without charging for minimum usage.

The S7 Edge lasts nearly twice as long as the iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus lasts a little longer than the Google Pixel XL.
For instance, when playing a game like Pokemon Go at 100% brightness, the iPhone 7 Plus died after barely 4 hours whereas the galaxy S7 Edge still had 58% battery left even though the Samsung has a much brighter display.

Kameel I seriously doubt that, my wife has the S7 Edge and I have the iPhone 7 and she's always struggling with battery and so was I when I had the Note5 and my son with his Note7. Samsung phones do charge much quicker, but they also do not last as long.

Great video! Having owned both the iPhone 7 Plus and currently the Galaxy S7 Edge, you really had to test with the iPad charger. It really gives the Samsung a good run for its money in the charging department. Anybody who owns an iPhone 7 Plus needs to invest $19 in the iPad charger.
I got rid of the iPhone 7 Plus due to it's awful Intel modem, that comes on the T-Mobile/AT&T variants. Loved the phone but and really enjoying the Samsung. In fact, I do a lot of email and texting, and the Swiftkey app and haptic feedback during typing are a revelation.
I was originally going to go back to the iPhone when the iPhone 8 comes out in the Fall, but am pretty smitten with the S7 Edge.

The iPhone Plus charging does take longer to charge but I must say my battery lasts a very long time. Starting my day at 7AM. Using it regularly all day (browsing the internet, RUclips, texting, calling etc) and by 6PM it is still at 75-80% battery remaining is impressive. This is my first iPhone and I gotta say I'm happy with my switch after owning a Lumia 1020, S6 Edge, Lumia 950XL and a Xperia Z5.

It charges quite fast, about an hour I guess, and lasts long - about 5 hours of screen on time with 20 percent left. I hope that clears it up for you. And I have tweaked the kernel, so that's a main factor, some people use their device without knowing what they use. 😐

I didn't lower the frequency or limit the amount of background processes. But that doesn't matter anyway, what matters is the fact that the battery doesn't wear out in a year.

These numbers are missing something. Im not saying your results are false, but I replicated the exact same test you did with my personal Pixel XL. I put engaged airplane mode and started at 1% and after 30 min im at 45%!!
when the battey is new it takes more time to charge .. i know your pixel is not old but alot of use affects the bettery makes it lose capacity and so charge faster but that's not good.
Higher end android phones have multiple phases in their charging process. I can tell you my s7 edge charges super fast until 80% then slows down to "trickle charge" protect the battery. I am guessing the Pixel XL does something similar to protect its battery. I am a little jealous of your phone even if the charging and battery capacity is lower

I bet you never heard how the iPhone 7/7 plus are catching fire and exploding, because the media loves to focus on one thing. Samsung is a big company and some people just want to see it burn to the ground. It's not uncommon for new phones to either start catching fire or exploding, I mean now most phones have lithium ion batteries that catch fire when PUNCTURED. so the note 7s must have either been defects or people were setting their phones on fire. Yep they said "Get up to 7 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes" on their official site, some other sites I've seen is they said 70 percent in 7 minutes, either way both claims proven false in this video. I also did a hands on video of the Pixel if you're interested. :)
Purav D hands on video would be great! I'm trying to decide on what phone to upgrade to from my beat up Note 4. Never had Apple but the 7 caught my eyes. I'm hearing issues people are having with it though. Would prefer to stick with Samsung but they failed with the *bomb* that was Note 7 x_x.

An important detail that wasn't mentioned in the video is that the iPhone takes more than twice as long to charge even a smaller battery than the S7. S7: 40mAh/min and iPhone 13mAh/min. The S7 charges allmost 4 times as fast. That's insane.

Michael C except my s7 edge lasts nearly 2 days on one charge... with WiFi on both days, Bluetooth on for about 2 hours total and music playing for at least 4 hours during this time and a pretty average to heavy use of Facebook, RUclips whatsapp etc. So....

iPhone actually charges when the battery is 0% but after it reach about 5-10% of battery, the iPhone will turn on automatically. Android phones need to be manually turned on if you started charging from 0%.

As someone who has both phones, the 7 Plus lasts a lot longer than the S7 Edge when you're actually using it. I basically have to live with the battery whenever I use the S7 Edge, but I can leave my battery at home for about half the entire day when I use the iPhone. That being said, there are a couple of things I like better on both phones. It all boils down to preference in the end.

No FF speakers, No Water resistance, no sd card, no QC 3.0..

There are lots of factors on charging. The most important one is what kind of Extension Lead did you use?
Was it plugged to the wall or to another one? Do the same test with Wall charging? I can tell that what they are advertising is usually wall charging.
On top of that there are couple of features that havent been used in this demonstration. Maybe the Nougat device wasnt in deep sleep. (which turns off everything to charge)

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge doesnt surprise me since its still using MicroUSB to charge.
The USB-C is still a start up and only the Dash Charging has a lead on it. (with their Oneplus 3/3T)
I would suggest to do individual tests with Wall charging.
Regardless that I am happy with the results. :)
