    This only shows one thing, optimization... Normal native apps run just a fast on the pixel, but games (which are optimized for iPhone) run slower. This is more developer fault than OS.

      no, its nothing to do with the processor, its the faster storage on iphone, compare a HDD to an SSD and thats the difference.

      iiZak_xD yes it is. Are you saying pixel has hdd? Of course iphones storage is also faster than pixels

    • @Kopelt07
      @Kopelt07 8 лет назад +5

      iiZak_xD no smartphone ever has had an HDD in it.... they use what is called an internal SD card, which is a micro form cousin to SSD, but still quite different... where in the world did you get HDD from?? lmao

      Blackie Chan the regularly used apps load faster or as quick on the Pixel as compared to the iPhone 7 Plus.

    • @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan
      @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan 8 лет назад

      IGA but then the game loading is heavily bottlenecked because of the way android handles it

    • @christmg4682
      @christmg4682 8 лет назад +8

      Blackie Chan,the only thing iPhones are good in is speed. Pixel has better camera,customizability,access to free apps from play store unlike appstore,multi-window,unlimited cloud storage for raw videos and photos,google assistant,bigger battery,better screen quality and the list goes on. Also we get what we deserve with the 💰 we spend in Pixel/Pixel XL whereas the fruit company is a way far from it.

    • @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan
      @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan 8 лет назад +6

      Elvis Keshang Tamang while that may be true but that's very opinion based, there are great things on iPhone as well like the phone just having all its apps work for it, if you're a photographer/editor iPhone works better for that. iPhone also handles macros better than the pixel does, although the pixel has a really great camera due to hdr +.

  • @pattygaming559
    @pattygaming559 8 лет назад +35

    So, what I have seen is that the pixel out performs the iphone in a lot of things. Which is definitely a impressive since everything on IOS is optimized for IOS. The game loading times you can't really compare tbh. Its impressive how fast the iPhone can load them but they are also optimized on IOS. Especially the games that he tested. They were all on IOS before android and have been big on IOS too.

    • @pattygaming559
      @pattygaming559 8 лет назад +15

      Great job on both sides. But I am definitely more impressed that Google managed to optimize the Android experience that well. I'm going out to buy the pixel ASAP.

    • @Fabio-rg9nv
      @Fabio-rg9nv 8 лет назад +1

      PattyGaming You're not quite right. Yes, optimization is extremely important for performance and experience, and that's why the iPhone outperforms Android in many ways. But in this case, launching big games, you can't do too much about optimization for the system. Importance here is to optimize the game for performance, independently of the system. It's not easy to explain but you basically can program something that does exactly the same in different ways, either performing 10x faster or 10x slower. There are lot's of other factors like programming language, engines, actual CPU and GPU performance and so on. One reason could also be the faster single core performance (iPhone has two extremely fast ones (other two are just for low power), whereas the Pixel has 4 cores... so thats more threads, but slower threads.) ... in this case the A10 fusion chip just outperforms the Snapdragon 821 when launching intensive apps. (not saying that iOS isn't also a reason)

    • @ThatBrownKid25

      Fabio Mota They both have four cores and four threads. Wtf you on about m8?

    • @Fabio-rg9nv
      @Fabio-rg9nv 8 лет назад

      ThatBrownKid It's all about the two main cores when it comes to performance. The two low power cores are for efficiency.

    Games load faster on the iPhone 7 Plus due to its signifanctly faster NAND read speed. Since games have much more content to load than regular apps, the difference is shown more. It's like booting a program on HDD vs SSD.

    • @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan

    • @PhanteusZ
      @PhanteusZ 8 лет назад +42

      Blackie Chan That *is* how it works. I am a computer science student. I can tell you that CPU and GPU have very little to do with load speed in modern phones. When you load a game, you aren't doing a CPU intensive task , but you are moving files from flash to RAM. NAND flash performance *bottlenecks*.

    • @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan
      @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan 8 лет назад +2

      Phanteus there's more to it than just the nand. That's cool and all that you do computer science but it's not just the nand. Trust me read more about iOS's architecture/drivers. I used to think it was the nand and processor too although they all play a part there's way more to it than that. How do you explain the 5/5s booting up games almost as fast? Cough swift cough you'll thank me lol

      ever used an ssd?

    • @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan
      @HezekiahAderinto1BlackieChan 8 лет назад

      Danny Chen I have, but it's not the case even if Apple were to use a normal hard drive t would still load the game faster just look it up. Also based on his logic losing a game isn't necessarily moving a file it's just reading and writing, which yes is affected by read and write of the drive but then samsungs drives were also ssd and we're still loading slower compared to iPhones loading time. I took the time to actually look up thwir r/w tests and the difference was very minimal (with s6 and upward). The software plays a big role as well.

    In my opinion. Who cares what phone is better, who cares which one is faster. Who cares what the hell others think. This video shows the different aspects of both the phones. It's all preference. This new hype of faster smartphone, bigger smartphone, and resolution. Who cares, if the phone does what its supposed to do with decent performance than that's all you need. At that point it's a preference of which UI you like better.

    I will say this, Google apps are imo the best apps out there from Google Maps to everything else that's Google and what better phone to have if you are a fan of Google than to have a phone designed and built by them. Google is taking over the world, sorry Apple.

    Thanks SuperSafTV for clearing this up and there will still be people who will say iPhone wins cause of optimization but you can see they processors score double than pixel i am android user and the android community has grown nasty to blame anything on iPhone. But i would want to talk about cost of iPhone its costs 649$ in the US but rest of the world the base iphone model costs 1000$+ In Europe and india the iPhone 7 32 gb costs around 1050$ and some places the higer end iphone models(256gb) cost more than 2000$ so for the people who say iPhone and pixel cost same, ya but only in AMERICA.

    I honestly feel like comparison between iPhone and Android phones is so pointless. comparison between Iphones should be used to show that there isn't much a of significant speed change in the phones because Iphones barely do much compare to android phones. androids should be compared to androids. it's like comparing an PS4 (iPhone) which is designated strictly for gaming which has barely any task running in background to an average persons computer (android) where android on startup has already multiple task running just like a computer. apple users always say have same thing to say about android users, "your phones so slow. your camera is so trash." etc etc and they ALWAYS compare that to a low end android phone like a LG L90 or Galaxy Avant. (low end computers) see my terminology? see the difference yet? it so annoying when people try to tell you something they have NO IDEA what's they saying let alone educated on what even powers their device(s).

    • @Jonen560ti
      @Jonen560ti 8 лет назад +2

      It might be partially so, but i strongly believe the main reason is single core performance. starting up game engines is typically a single threaded task. if you start up an OSD on PC and monitor individual core loads, you will find that booting up games will allmost always net a 90-100% load on a single core with less than 20% on ever other core. yet when the games are running, they will usually balance their load much better. if nand speed was the only reason the iphone launches games quicker, how can you explain how twitter and youtube were faster on the pixel

    • @Jonen560ti
      @Jonen560ti 8 лет назад

      *****
      For games yes, but in almost every other task, the pixel was faster or equally fast. which is very impressive considering the Pixel is at a disadvantage.

    • @yellartiaga
      @yellartiaga 8 лет назад

      Jonen560ti the iPhone 7's A10 chip has 4 cores, 2 low powered and 2 high powered cores, if the iPhone 7 was using the two high power cores on all of the applications, then the iPhone 7 would have killed the Pixel but the transition animation really makes the 7 look slow.

      Ironically in games is the only scenario where it will help with speed/frames per second. Like he said, better for us to see frame rate testing. Erica Griffin showed it very well. The Pixel (and I'm sure the iphone too) drop almost no frames at all doing anything.

      actually the camera is fine on the pixel for snapchat. google really knows what they're doing. the front facing camera is meh but get used to using the rear camera as a selfie cam as you get better pictures since that 12mp and i think the front is 8mp but not too sure.

      true, and the developer don't have to struggle with various combination of SoC on android. that's why on some android some games is good but in other android device it's poorly made. unlike in apple store, all apps is for Iphone only. hence the quality.

      Even if that was the case Isn't that another reason to buy the iPhone?
      You also saw the Geekbench score. The iPhone has a way faster CPU than the Pixel.

    I am using the oneplus 3. However, in terms of speed and efficiency. The iphone clearly wins. The A10 chip that was build by apple was specifically meant to run on IOS10. This integration of hardware and software gives the iphone 7/plus better raw processing power. This is something that we, android fans have to admit. There are many things that apple got wrong, but lets face it, although they are close, no andriod phone manufacturer can win apple in terms of their mobile cpu and os integration.
    It is also true that android nougat and the pixel was both made by google. However, keep in mind that the SD821 was not made by google ( made by Qualcomm) . Google can only optimise its OS for the SD821. Apple on the other-hand can heavily optimise both its A10 chip and IOS10, leading to higher benchmark scores.
    However, I am happy to see that the pixel has a better camera module than the iphone 7/plus. Giving apple fiercer competition is healthy for a competitive mobile industry.

    you have to use newer games on android... the ones you tested are just "old" and doesn't use multithreading of modern cpu's. Try csr 2, latest need for speed (or other newer games and then we can have a better impression). Older games ALWAYS load faster on ios because single core performance is just better with apple chips. My old galaxy s3 open temple run not so much slower than my s7 edge exynos... and well, we all know how BIG is the cpu computing difference beetween this two. Sorry for my english if there are some defects.

    Look how much nicer, crisper, and well-contrasted the Google Pixel is compared to the iPhone 7.
    Now, put a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (or even a Note 5, or even a Note 4) beside the new iPhone 7 and the Samsung's have WAYYYYY better displays.

      +Mikko Haavisto Nobody uses the voice assistant. Which is why I didn't put it there. Not only that but, Siri is still arguably better. If you ask them both what's the value of x company, Siri will give you a graph which gives you more detail. So, I don't believe that the Google assistant is better than Siri. Also, I didn't count speed 3 times. One of them is for loading times, one of them is for the performance of games, and one of them is for on which platform do the apps usually come first. On top of that, put 4k video with the unlimited storage for photos.

    iPhone apps are native while Android apps needs VMs (Dalvik/ART) to run that's why games are faster in iOS. Add to that Vulkan is still new and under development so I see it's doing very well comparing to iOS.

    Wow, quite excited to see these results. I love Android but honestly, this is the first time I see an Android running so smokingly fast and doing so well at RAM management.
    Games are a different story, Google made a big effort to close the gap between the silicon and the Java Virtual Machine but isn't there yet, mainly due to the necessity of supporting old APIs due to fragmentation. Hopefully this will change during the coming months, if the developers and manufacturers catch up with Google on the efficiency of code.

      Nothing, because resolution doesn't affect app opening speed. Also, android games use "play games" to sync with friends, and it causes a delay in opening. That's why the iphone isn't any faster at all at opening apps, but is with all of the games.

      The softwares (applications) for iOS is optimized only and only for Apple Products while the SW/Apps for the Pixel is optimized for a wide variety of phones that uses android as an OS and resulting to a longer processing time. It would only be fair if Android is only exclusive for Pixel. I won't explain how (as I am not a programmer (but this is the problem, obvs.).
      But of course, Apple's Iphone is literally faster than any Android phones.
      Note: Yes, I am a fan of Android and yes, I accept our lose in this one. LOL!

    Intern game dev here, apps run faster on iOs not just iphone because they're using NVMe which is the bigger brother of ufs 2.0 which is being used by android makers (not sure why tho), another thing is that its easier to make an app/games/etc. on ios since its optimized to just ios but in Android the apps have to do a ton of fragmentation because the app needs to read and understand what kind of software and hardware it is running for so that's the reason for the longer load times. Anyway if you wanna see a real speed test you should rely on the native apps which Supersaf did in the early part and you can clearly see that Pixel is on par if not ahead of the iPhone7p but if you really want a game speed test you should do a "frames per second test" instead of the loading times and both device should be on the same resolution, I can guarantee you its gonna be on par with each other. Flies away.

      Trust me I know Android .. I've had it for years, and flagships for that matter, not the shitty 50 dollar androids.. HTC Mytouch & EVO 4G being my firsts, to Nexus 4 by LG (witch is Pure google android like this Pixel), and galaxy s5.. AND all of them out the box work wonderfully, but then you start to notice the lag more, battery performance goes down, and so on.. and I use to bash Apple for it's locked down platform on iPhones .. But now today, I want a phone that works well, consistently, that is fast, and that handles my day to day tasks with ease. I've switched over to iPhone last year with the IPhone 6s Plus. And I'm completely satisfied and feel it's money well spent... and I can just keep going on and on about how iPhone is just the better product, but hey.. to each their own!..
