theres no such thing as a 'proper' cover in my opinion. a cover should be an interpretation of someone else's music, allowing you as an artist to put your own spin on the tune, which some people will like, others will not. I know im not the only one who thinks a cover that sounds exactly like the original is just a bit boring.
