Ever since I watched American Beauty, whenever I see a plastic bag floating in the wind I break down in tears and scream, “The world is so beautiful! I can’t take it!!!”

My Mum laughed so hard at Annette Bening's sarcastic retort about the "elevator music" during that dinner scene......it sounded so much like something my Mum would say.

Blue Streak is still probably my favorite Martin Lawrence comedy. It's not amazing, but it's good. (EDIT: I disagree with the co-host's take on the movie even though he recommended it.)

American Beauty reeks of sour grapes. It hates its characters, stereotypes them to the extreme, then pretends its cliches are deep commentary: “look closer…” it’s just Hollywood trying to break down the family unit and show us how we don’t deserve what we worked for. Oh, and the whole “guy doesn’t like gay people is secretly gay” trope? Done to death. Final Draft must have that on cut and paste mode to help out lazy screenwriters.

Every time I watch one of these with the stand in co-hosts; or even Roeper for that matter, I just end up wondering what would Gene think about this film? Even tho I tended to agree with Ebert more often, I was always more interested to hear Gene’s take on a film.

Blue Streak, just like Naked Gun movies, the actors act seriously in a convincing manor and convince us, and I guess that's how good humor laughs work for the audience. Script aside and removing any 'unbelievable aspects ' of the movie. Gene would have hated it (possibly) lol. RIP Gene 🌹

I’m going through Sam Raimi movies right now and I’m not looking forward to For Love of the Game. It just doesn’t seem like a good use of Sam Raimi from what I’ve seen. I’m crossing my fingers to be surprised, but I’m looking forward to checking out a lot of other movies a whole lot more.
