    You are the man! This was the first time I had changed pads on a vehicle with electric emergency brake, and I would have been totally lost without this tutorial! Thanks a million!!!

    Took it to a shop and told me I couldn't replace the rear brake pads without connecting to a scan computer! I'm so glad I came accross your video! Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Great stuff!

    I’m so happy that someone posted a video of how to replace the rear brakes because I was NOT about to pay the dealership $200 just to do my rear brakes on my ‘22 Outlander!

      Do you know if the front brakes have the same e-brake electronic mechanism on the calipers? I wanted to change the front as well but I’m worried I’ll mess up my e-brake.

      $200? That's cheap. I just paid $566 plus taxes for thr rear brakes and rotors. All the other shops can't do it because they don't have the parts.

    Just wanted to thank you for this video and for some of the comments as well. I just did my ex's rear pads and rotors and this was pretty much like doing my Honda Civic with the e-Brake. Worked perfectly and no problems when testing after. I believe i used a T-30 bit that worked perfectly to wind the motor back, and then was able to compress the piston using a standard hand compressor from harbor freight. Just don't forget to plug the e-Brake motor connector back in before you put the wheel on, like i almost did! 😂

    I found this works fast. I unplugged the electrical connector running to the brake solenoid. Then used a two wire alligator clip jumper from a small 12v alarm battery and backed out the actuator. You will know immediately the correct polarity as the motor will turn in or out when you touch the lead to the connection contact. It was a one minute work around. This method works on most electronic rear brake solenoid actuators.

    I did my 22 outlanders about a year ago and went thru hell only to find out you have to set the suv to service mode before starting the job. You can set the outlander to service mode yourself manually. After that everything is pretty normal.

    Darn, I found your video too late. Had to replace my breaks pads, but the smaller shop couldn't since they're electrical breaks. Had to go to a bigger shop, which was more expensive, but at least i have an idea on how to change them myself.

    Too video mate. When using a power probe, once the new pads are in, do you use the power probe to push it back out?

  • @DarrylReiter

    Great video! Wondering whether you can comment on changing the rim from a 35mm offset to 38mm if you think there's room to clear the calipers and electronic parking brake. I know I need to run a test fit, but if your quick gut reaction is a "NO" then I just go with that as I don't have the rims on hand. Thanks!

    I have a 2019 outlander with EPB. Does this process cause an EPB error code? I hear many encountering an error code after different methods like yours, then there's the method to apply a 12v source to the contacts to rewind, then there's the method of putting it into service mode by pushing the EPB button 10 times, brakes, etc, THEN theres using a scan tool to go into service mode.

    • @lakesautomotivediagnostics6509
      @lakesautomotivediagnostics6509  7 месяцев назад +1

      I have used this method on mini mics and models. Never got a error code before if you have a different way to do yours like putting it into maintenance mode. That is definitely what you need to do.

    I followed your video! However when I start the vehicle there’s a code that pops up saying maintenance required on the electronic parking brake. And the E brake works on the left side but not the right side. I tested the power to the sensor and it gets power, I’ve also tested the actuator and it operates. Any suggestions?
