    Yeah, everything can be traced back to Africa, but Kool Herc created breakbeats in Jamaica. When he moved to America with his family in the early 1970s, kids began to rhyme to the breakbeats therefore creating Hip-Hop music.

    @zigsauer and might i ask wat do u listen to?

  • @MattmanKey84
    @MattmanKey84 12 лет назад

    @ede292 Well, that was through Dancehall Reggae which also came out during the "Dub" music, in which Hip-Hop was also a product of. Not all Jamaican music was about "Pop' garbage that you mention. The music today does but classic Roots Reggae artists like Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Breres Hammond, Burning Spear, Lee Scratch Perry, and other artists had more of a political and social tone.

    I want the martyrs to know that if we are keeping it real
    It is due to their blood which was spilt on the grounds for us
    All the people keeping it real
    Know that our flag is flying high
    If you are a real man then we are with you too
    I pray for the world to be secure and peaceful
    Amen
    We have felt enough fire
    I hope the day that we are all safe and secure comes quicker
    So that we may all be happy together
    Poetry is so strong it even sounds nice in English!

    @DETmostwanted But you corrected me and said Jamaica was the birthplace? All Jamaicans did was advance the beats and make them pop more. This made the compositions catchier and enjoyable. But that's exactly what anyone with modern music making instruments can do. Rap in America transformed it and made it an art-form with an emphasis on telling a story/struggle, bass(contrast to the rappers voice), drops in the beats and multiple choruses(variety), and smooth relaxed beats(Snoop).

    @DETmostwanted Most Jamaican music I know, correct me, is similar to the crap modern "musicians" pull with their repetitive songs. Forcing the listener to be exposed to the same melody and phrases to get them stuck in the listener's head. Music is supposed to be a freeing the listener while making enjoyable sounds and "rhythmic harmony out of chaos." To stay on topic, Hichkas lives on the other side of the world. Where do you think the origin of his motivation to rap comes from?

    @Mattikish at one point you have to stop and think, hey maybe there is only a select few pulling the strings making us all dance to their nauseous symphony, which leads nowhere except giving them more power, power thats hard to get back.

    @DETmostwanted Rapping can actually be traced back to Africa, with spoken word and drum beats were brought together. Blues musicians in the U.S. as early as the 1920's and laying the foundation to most popular music today. There was some influence by the Jamaicans but nothing groundbreaking. Where did you think Hichkas got his style of rap? He sounds like he raps like DMX without cursing and adding religious themes. If you want good rap, look toward Mos Def or any Wu-Tang artist.
