Thanks for putting this together Joe, it really helped to select my first quad. I ended up needing to cross-reference with the Revolution website, just to get some more solid numbers for wind-speeds in my area. My kite is now ordered. :D
I have maybe 25 Revs at this point, dating all the way back to the original Rev 1 design with the soft boot and triangle loop end caps. Speed Series, 1.5 SLE, B-Pro full complement including the Zen, full B Series... I even have a Backtracker I bought new in 1997. My Reflex Revs are like nothing else I have flown. I LOVE them! They are much more stable and responsive than even my B Pro series (please don't tell my B Pros I said that). At this point my dream kite would be a Rev 1 in the traditional light blue and pink with Reflex! I learned on a Rev 1 T300, and they fly on rails. With Reflex, I think it might be even better? Anyway, the first quantum leap for Revs in my opinion was the response increase with the pro series. The Reflex feels like another two or three leaps forward again. They are amazing, Joe! Too bad I won't get to say hi at WSIKF this year, but good to see you virtually on RUclips.
Great question JP. The Reflex collapses in high wind, so technically, it has no effect in high wind. If the wind is unsteady, or your line tension relaxes for any reason (like an 'over-head stall'), the Reflex will kick in and help recovery. Depending on your flying style and skills (One example: do you have a lot of flutter as you rip around the sky?) you may want to remove the Reflex springs when flying aggressively, especially if you have a lot of sail flutter. Here is a video for high wind conditions: ruclips.net/video/gxmkPZKhb7o/видео.html
@@jhadzicki thanks for noticing my comment. Would love to see a video explaining its actual specific design and function. Maybe that’s just because I’m an aerodynamicist though. I have an old 1.5 and a power blast 2-4 is on my bucket list.

Very good démonstration !!

Hi Joe, does Reflex has any purpose in strong wind ?

How do you engage the reflex?
Hey Julia! Do you have a Revolution Reflex? Which model?
I am just starting flying a Rev, but I do think it's about the springs on the Reflex kites. "Engage" is with spring, "disengange" without.
How much does a new reflex set cost? Mine bent really easy somehow.
Soooo what is reflex actually?
It's a spring system that allows the wing to change shape while flying
