Spin Pro Review: Next-Gen Flying Disc? *As Seen on TV*

- Опубликовано: 18 май 2024
- Today, I'm testing the Spin Pro, a next-generation flying disc touted for its unique design. It's said to be as throwable as a ball and facilitates easier trick performance. My son Brandon and I went to a nearby park to try it out.

Just a video of a man playing catch with his son. Love when your family helps with your content.
Ya'll ever saw mrs freaking reviews?
@@Mwrp86Yes. Why?
Don’t forget Bailey
That's fine but were is Noah his daughter, lovely woman haven't seen her in years🤔
Me too! I love seeing his family now and then
Glue it back together, turn it upside down and use it as a chip 'n dip server.
😂😂😂
That might actually work.
Haha, dual purpose!
😂
Haha!
In the 90's I got a similar "trick" Frisbee for participation in a school fundraising event. This frisbee had a cone in the center for doing finger tricks, but it was a solid piece of plastic. It was my favorite Frisbee ever. I think it was actually a rebranded "Spinjammer Pro."
Maybe not a great product, but it looks like you had a good time with your son, and that makes it good in my book
that's his son?
@@JimNortonsAlcoholismyes
Product feels like it's reinventing the wheel when it didn't need to be reinvented
Such a thing was already around years ago in the ‘90s
I hope you get the chance to try one soon.
And the actual person who invented the frisbee disc Walter Frederick Morrison who passed away over 14 years ago. I highly doubt he invented this.
OR he did invent it and realized it was a dud. haha
@@mgratk thats what i was thinking
Its from the creator of the WAMO soft frisbee.
Created a disc for Frisbee Brand by Wham-O
Man, I just watched a 3 minute commercial of this thing from their company and the entire 3 minutes were just some old guy spinning it on his fingers he didn't even throw it one time! For some unknown reason I watched a bunch of their commercials and they were lame as heck. It made me come to the realization that I have no life lol!
Baley would have liked to test it out at the park too 😂
Yes, where is Bailey? Doggys LOVE frisbee games! (Yet how it fell apart, we didn’t want Bailey swallowing any tiny parts)
@@chrismayer3919 The plastic will never separate now. That was fixed right away. Only a few were released before issue discovered.
I remember when businesses used to give away frisbees with their logo and advertising printed on them.
Yep, I still have a large black and gold frisbee that says “Rickel helps you do it better!” on it
Yeah but they weren't very good. I have a Hershey's one that used to smell like chocolate.
Never bought a frisbee. In the 70’s as kids we used to get free promotional frisbees from our neighbor. His Australian Shepherd “Casey” was in a Kal Kan dog food commercial catching a frisbee and the company kept sending them free dog food and yellow frisbees with the Kal Kan logo on them. We used to play frisbee with the dog and he never missed. They were a bit chewed but still flew fine. Good, simpler times.
@@3DJapanthey're giving you for free? You want to complain?
Or getting food on them atvresturants
Thank you for testing a lot of items. That saves us a lot of money.
The original Frisbee by Wham-O is sold at Dollar Tree for $1.25 🤓
You should try an aerobie pro! They have been around since the early 90's and are seriously impressive with the distance they go! Great, fun video!
This is why we stick with egg gadgets. Can't mess up eggs.
should try using one of the egg gadgets as frisbee, their true intended purpose.
I love when james is playing with his son, God bless him and his family
This is why I love your Chanel! Busting the b/s dumb advertisement items we see day to day and proving which are actually worth our time and money
I think it would be cool when you do your best and worst of the year products at the end of the year to throw in a bloopers of the year video too. Always love watching your reviews and I’m glad your son got to join in on this one.
Between the $30 dollar candle and this thing I could have bought food for a week.😆😂
In Toronto, that's food for a meal lol
He bought it so we don’t have to! Thank you king
Where?
@@youtubetube9723 Depends on what you call food. Walmart sells Ramen noodles for cheap everywhere, but I'd rather not.
@@youtubetube9723 Dried beans, rice, eggs, onions, bananas. All cheap foods. Should be possible almost anywhere in US at least. Canada too. Maybe not the big blue cities where shoplifting is encouraged so prices shoot sky high.
A drop of superglue between the cap and that bottom piece might do the trick, but if you gotta be fixing a product right out of the box, it isn't a good start at all
Sorry that one got out. We fixed the issue and they will never separate now.
I had something like this years ago. It had kind of a triangle pyramid in the middle to allow you to look kool like you had skills when spinning it on your finger. :)
Spin Jammer. I still have mine.
For an extreme frisbee experience try an Aerobie. Make sure you're in a very wide open space.
That ring, damn! From the mind of Alan Adler, creator of the Aeropress coffee maker. 👍
Always glad to see you and Brandon💜
james got a rocket launcher arm damn .dont mess with dad
So glad to see Brandon! Sorry to hear he moved to Maine. Those Main winters are pretty rough! He went from one extreme to another lol
Lol, broke on the first throw
Haha yeah that didn't bode well, but we still managed to test it out and have some fun.
The best.
As other people have mentioned the Aerobie (Ring) is awesome, I can't go back to a traditional frisbee/flying disc after playing with an Aerobie.
While I haven't tossed a flying disc since about 2011 when I played my one and only disc golf match, I do remember throwing discs overhand that would start out upside-down but flip right-side up along the way.
I just watched two grown men play frisbee for like 9 minutes hahahaha. Love you James! So long as you have fun, the product did its job haha.
Great to see Brandon again! Hope you had a nice visit!
I really ❤ see you and you're son hanging out.
I used these things 30 years ago in elementary school. The “handle”underneath was round not gear shaped but it was the same thing.
I felt your exhaustion. As much fun as it is running around throwing flying discs or water baloons, (especially on the beach/sand with two 5-6 year olds) you quickly get winded no matter if you are in shape or not. At least, that is what I tell my 50 year old self.
Your son has so many of your mannerisms and its amazing to see. Youre such a lucky dude!
I was happily surprised to hear you both say Bangor Maine I am from that area myself 😃
Welcome back Brandon!!
Diggin the beard, Brandon!
I loved the bloopers! 😁
Nothing will ever defeat the Aerobie super disc!
All this product testing may result in you making your own product which would be BRILLIANT because you already have the knowledge on what would make a bad... And a good product.
Million dollar idea 😉
Your idea is for him to come up with an idea...
Thanks for the review.
I'm really into disc golf so I got a big kick out of this video! I think Vegas has a couple nice courses out there. If you ever end up picking it up I'd love to see you review different discs, although that would some put major hurt on my wallet I'm sure.
Kinda crazy how you can throw it non traditional and it flies. I wonder if it’s more the lighter medium is the sweet spot?
OMG that reminds me of the 80's Spin Jammer disk, but they were one piece so didnt come apart and were great for tricks
The kiddos will have a blast with this great summertime activity!
I'm right handed, but for some reason can only throw a frisbee with my left hand.
Brandon has a hell of a beard but looks just like you, its crazy. You've always seemed like a great father.
A good time is always guaranteed when I see a new Freekin' Reviews video launched... even with a junk product...
I love it, I want a frisbee day now
I have never been able to throw a frisbee well. Even in college, my throws would never go where I was trying to put them.
"invented the Frisbee disc" 🤣
That person is Walter Frederick Morrison. Went by his middle name, Fred. The Frisbee was his greatest invention. This, not so much. Of course, all he was doing was refining the flight characteristics of a pie pan.
@@claycassin8437Perhaps they were commenting on that it wasn’t officially called a Frisbee, since the pie pan company still owned the trademark.
@@AKCFTW It was invented by Steve Stark who created the Wham-O "Legendary Soft Frisbee Disc".
Do they still market the Boom-a-rang?
@@Okurka. And thus began a trademark dispute, rebranding, etc.
Hummm... How many times have you thrown a regular frisby? Wonder how you would be able to throw the Spin Pro if you threw it that many times?
It literally fell apart on first use, you're going to fix it with super glue to continue to use it and you end up saying it's not without merit 😃 That's some positivity right there!
😂😂😂 not the rescue inhaler
I'm thinking not worth the extra bucks. However would still be a great toy to exercise a retriever. 😂
Plastic discs hurt the dogs teeth. The edges get wet from the dog and your now able to throw from the gear grip that is dry. Makes for a great pet product.
@@stevestark4958 - It would depend on the dog, my boys (Labs) were soft mouth, never biting hard onto the disk.
In the 90s some company came to my elementary school and did this presentation for discs like this. Ended up taking orders from the kids. This is an ancient design. Hilarious they're trying to sell it as new
Have you ever reviewed the slotdog on this channel before? Summer is coming up and was just curious if you used that gadget before. I don't want to purchase one if it isn't worth it. I usually wait for take on gadgets first before I pull the trigger lol.
Nothing i love more than the family vids!
Reminds me of the spin jammer of the 80’s
I remember throwing frisbees as a kid. I also remember the yo-yo, especially my Coca Cola yo-yo, long lost in a move. Childhood memories.
You and your son looked like you had fun, in spite of the white parts of the flying disc coming off at the first toss. Doesn't indicate a quality construction. Maybe the manufacturer or designer should look into improving that.
Ah yeah, I also remember learning yo-yo tricks as a child. We did have fun that day. The manufacturer sent me a message saying they had fixed the issue of it coming apart.
looked like you had a good time so i would say mission accomplished.
Watching this the old Winston Tire ad came to mind with the line....'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. There is no need to try and improve on the basic good old flying disc.
I am a fan of Aerobie Pro :)
Thank you for being the first to introduce this to me and immediately confirming what I expected to see in the thumbnail.
4:38 lol
I was glad to see your son pop into one of your videos again. Thanks for the review. It would be as no for me but a yes to a regular frisbee
wait for a version 2.0 where the plastic doesn't fall off. also the plastic only seems there for the spin on the finger tricks not for throwing.
The way it switches direction mid-flight is like a boomerang.
Brandon looks just like his dad! And like Babish 🤣
The grass though!!!❤❤❤
Thank you for your videos.
Can you review the Ninja GR101 Grill, seen some bad and good reviews, would like your ideas
I play Frisbee with a friend all the time and I was excited to tell him about something new. Then I watched the rest of the review.
I feel because of physics, frisbees can’t be improved beyond what’s currently available.
That darn Newton...
You have to let us know when you visit your son in Maine. I live between Ellsworth and MDI. I'm curious about where you guys might eat if you do decide to visit. Long time viewer, I think first time commenter.
The OGs had Spin Jammers they were perfect for doing tricks.
Oh, my right shoulder hurt in sympathy, James! I have a partially torn rotator cuff. Owww!
Brandon looks great with the mustache and beard! Cutie-pie! 😂❤
How was that shoulder the next day?
half expected a jump cut to brandon getting plowed in the face by the disc as he walked off to catch the first throw... wait im a brandon and that was my childhood
I would have liked to see you throw it like an original Frisbee but leave the center things in place. Maybe next time.
Oh man those two majestic beards in one video is almost more than I can handle! 🤩
Like a ball, you release too late making the frisbee actually flies towards the ground about halfway through its flight.
Throwing it the way it 'apparently' says you are supposed to, requires actual skill. That is an advanced throwing technique. Basically what you're trying to do is race up Pikes Peak without having ever driven a car before.
The regular frisbee seem more functionable
Awesome review as always. But the real question is...Where can I get a pair of those awesome sunglasses? 👓
What I find weird is because of how you have to hold it, technically you're still throwing it as as a frisbee as you still tossing it on its side to spin.
I doubt this would work if you try throwing it overhead like a pitcher or something... like a ball.
I have a frisbee like that from the 80s called a spin jammer..... from what I see in this video, I think I would prefer my spin jammer.
Beardy Brandon is freaking me out, man.
i thank i am to get a spin pro next - gen flying disc and try it.
I remember back forty or so years ago I bought a new frisbee for something like $6 or $7. I put it on the rack of my bike still in the packaging and pedaled home as fast as I could. Well wouldn't you know that crap dropped off the bike somewhere and I didn't notice until I came home. I biked all the way back to the store but didn't find it. I had to grin with it, dig out more money and go back and buy another.
The irony is that disc was the worst piece of crap I ever tried to throw. Fortunately I didn't have to live with it for all that long. A few days later as I was trying to get it to go where I wanted a dog turned up having run from his owner as he saw a frisbee being thrown. He was very happy to hunt it down and return it, only after a few times his teeth did a mess of the disc. The owner was very sorry and wanted to pay for it but I had more fun watching it get eaten than actually throwing it so I gave it away.
Everyone says eventually as a youngster you grow up to mimic/look like your parents. From earlier videos til know I can see Freakin Reviews JR living up to it..
In my early 20s my dad was a portly fellow with a beard or long moustache most times and i was the opposite. At 41 I have been bearded for some years and now with a family have became more portly(fat).. hearing family members say "you look just like your dad" has become my reality and I don't know when the transition came in from my having my own look to rolling into dad mode but it has happened 😂😂😂
Man I was excited to see some cool tricks or something lol Im sticking with a classic Frisbee. New one just was disappointing
I love when brandon makes an appearance! Great video, guys!
Decades ago I had a flying disc with an intent in the middle to catch it on a finger. Making it in multiple pieces seems less ideal.
I played catch with my dad once. Only once. I didn't know at the time that it was a special event. I wonder if these two know how lucky they are.
Your son coming from Maine wearing a Lakers shirt in Las Vegas. That's what's up.
I wonder if you could use this in disc golf? Once the pieces fall off you could get a "Do over"..........?
I'm curious as to why you'd need the plastic pieces, just make the Frisbee one whole unit. Then you could still do tricks and throw it over handed. DAMN!!! May I should be an inventor. 😂
It was fixed, they will not come apart. Sorry that one got out. The disc is very durable and floats.
The white pieces are just for doing tricks, spinning it on your finger and so. You take it off otherwise
It seems easier to aim when throwing the normal way.
This looks great for drunken frisby golf!
