Hi Rob! I ate unconventional food growing up. My mom is also 86 next month. So, def know what it's like to grow up with folks from the depression. Honestly, picking veggies straight from the garden was my favorite memory besides living in the tree tops. But hey ive been off youtube for awhile, been busy! Finally sold our 12 acre homestead but decided to wait to move to the 50 acres we have, instead we bought 50 more a little closer to hubs work and he retires next year!! Yay!!
Heck, I remember trying my dog's dry dogfood as a kid, I kind of liked it. I have been growing, hunting, processing and preserving most all my produce and protein for years.
My husband was chowing Down on some Snacks when i got home 1 day ..when i told him they were Dog Snacks he spit em out 😂 seemed Delicious to him prior to the Knowledge
40s and 50s were hard times for us, everyone was poor so we didn't know we were poor. Anyone else wear feedsack dresses? Dad brought us North to take over the family (cough, cough,) farm, so Mom from the South didn't know the wildlife in her new home. And, as you said the male goes out and harvests the animals. Dad would skin them out in the woods before bringing them home for Mom to cook. She didn't know what she was cooking. Come to find out, we were eating porcupines, and groundhogs, among other critters. When Mom saw a picture of a porcupine, she lost it~ She never was much of a meat eater. ME, once I got off of the farm, I turned to being a vegetarian.
If you can find and buy dog food , you can buy human food first , Its called stocking up or hoarding or Survival ! No ! I'm not eating dog food ! Plenty of Rabbit, Squirrels, Turkey and Deer
I need your advice. If you feel as frustrated as me at this society that you just want to lay down until the end of time. Is now the time to finally let go and be free? But the problem is I got limited finances and want some quick answers and thanks for a wonderful channel
IF my peeps were to go low and I had to hunt fish trap and maybe take an unbranded range cow, I would feed that dog food to my dogs and eat what I caught or go hungry if I caught nothing. My pets take prescidence over me.
Some of those treats and wet food actually smell really good and don't look half bad either, in fact I think I've had worse than that before (Banquet TV dinners cough cough). So yea I'd eat dog food if I had to. 😂
Dog food is just as short term food supply as eating cat food, fish food or chicken feed. Instead of stocking up on dog food for yourself, stock up on something more nutritious for humans, a tin of baked beans for example.

Keep it in mind, money is not the be-all and end-all. Time freedom is more important.
