We prefer our time away from the homestead doing the things you talk about, hiking, camping, visiting historic things. I do love going to the beach and light houses. Even that our last time (other than going home) going to a beach we took the kids for their graduation instead of a party to OBX and that was like 2021.

Vacations are basically escaping your life!! I haven’t had a vacation in several years because I built my life that I don’t need escapism. However, I would not mind getting away from the winters. 😊

We are from up north with long long winters. Oh the stories I could tell. We are in the south now, mild winters, but now dealing with high temps and crazy high humidity.

Great video, well said! I am working towards the life I don't want to escape from. I quit the rat race a couple of years ago and paid off my house a few years ago and now I am going to sell it and pay cash for some land while I still can. I would like to be a nomad at least part time and then settle into a homestead when I can find the right piece of land. I always enjoy your videos and wise words!

After we sold off everything and left the rat race we lived full-time on a 36 ft sailboat for 9 years. Then we moved to our homestead. Sounds like a good plan.

I used to live for working and taking vacations, but now I’m completely the opposite. Love staying home now. I’m happy for the vacations I’ve had, but it’s completely overpriced now. Just flying across the US is way too much now. :( And I think used the word “now” in every sentence. Haha! 😂
