  • Hi guys. In this video I'm running a recce of the Wasdale Fell race which is taking place next Saturday 8th July 2023.
This is a brutal fell race and an achievement on any fell runners CV.
21 miles and over 2500m of elevation with tight timings on check point cut offs (for me).
This recce only takes in the first 3 check points as a I cut it short after Pillar and return via Black Sail Pass. This took me over 7 hours.
I mention at the beginning I wanted to keep this video under 30 minutes.. I failed ;)
    I hope you enjoy.

Love it mate. Gable looks absolutely bloody miles away from Pillar. (And Zeetallan is a slog!) Roll on next Saturday. Don't forget your bitty👍👍

Really enjoying the fell running stuff John and the waffles and asides are really funny😁! Don't worry about 30minutes being too long it is all inspiring stuff! Good luck with the Wasdale!! I live rurally and run on local roads and tracks, but the Lakeland Fells are on another level and not quite up to it yet ! Keep running and the thanks for sharing the fab content and views !!

As has been said John, don’t worrying about making them shorter.
I know what you mean about Seatallan - ran up it a couple of months back - a very dreary trudge!

Hey John, for what it’s worth, I like the longer videos. I tend to have them on in the background while I work. But I’m just some lizard with a keyboard 😂

😂 fair enough mate, well tbh it seems I can’t keep em under 30 mins so I’ll carry on 👌🏻

Wasdale is a beast of a race. What makes it tough is the rocky and steep ground all comes in the final third of the race. Enjoy, Davie

Keep waffling, because its amusing and increases the likelihood of some white text correcting. Cant getout much myself, so they're great inspiration.

"I'm trying to keep the video under 30 mins so I'll stop waffling on..." intro ends at 34:00 😂 Just kidding, John. You were remarkably brief today!
The new top and shoes look awesome.
Your running action always looks so smooth and almost effortless, even up those stonking great mountains.
Anyway, I'll stop waffling on... 👍🏻🏃‍♂️

Absolutely BRILLIANT video mate. Summit of Pillar looked a bit cooler than it was at Ennerdale 🌞It is suddenly very, very close! Tricky balance between holding back over the good running early (to have something in the tank later on) on but getting under the cut-offs. Haven't run it for 20 years so next Saturday will be interesting! Snazzy shoes 👍Might dig out my old school Walshes. See you at Brackenclose 🦾😃

Cheers mate. If I’m totally honest I’ll have to go full steam to make the cut offs.. I just hope I make them and have enough in the tank after Great Gable 😬

What is the name of your new jacket? I’m after a new jacket at the moment and the amount of choice is a bit overwhelming, is it waterproof/wind proof?

    • @lakelandtrailrunner
      @lakelandtrailrunner  Год назад +1

It’s the Montane Featherlite wind proof. Not waterproof but good enough to keep you warm when there’s a passing shower and it’ll dry quickly. If it gets too torrential and the rain seems to be setting in I’ll throw my Goretex on over the top 👌🏻

    • @lakelandtrailrunner
