If finally they make a sequel, they could show how in Zootopia exists a sort of taboo about interspecies relationships and how the protagonists have to face it. It would be an excellent chance to teach children that love is love, no matter the race (or even the gender) of your couple. For me, green light.
what's really interesting is Disney can build a spinoff of this movie and focus on a different area of Zootopia. I really loved the tropical rainforest area during day. sadly on the movie, they visited that place during night time.
+J.J. L. I want there to be a sequel and a spin off series. A spin off series that's a prequel starring Nick as a hustler, going through all the areas of Zootopia letting us see the ins and outs, and a sequel, starring Nick and Judy on more adventures.
Almost a year after Zootopia 2 announcement... I hope with ALL MY LIFE see 3 things: 1) Judy and Nick togheter CANON real 100%, 2) A good case to solve, 3) be an amazing movie with many layers as the first one was. Still watching til this day and keep discovering details.
So there was the leopard kid who went on to become a tax consultant or something. But what about the sheep girl who wanted to grow up to be an astronaut? Did she chase her dream?
Gabby Gamer XD yes! I call their ship name WildHopps XD but the cat as an adult doing taxes is hilarious, and if it did say "my dreams came true" then I would stay at the theater infill I see it XD
On one hand, it's always a little awkward to say "So ... this thing you worked on for five+ years, uh ... exactly how canon is that one ... relationship?" On the other, Howard and Moore have been in this game a LONG time. 10/10, good interview.
+Mullerornis Yeah, man, Byron mentioned that in the Fusion interview. 28 years! I'm super glad he found "the one" so young. I was referring to things between Judy and Nick. His responses to the direct shipping questions were great. Both handled themselves well!
+gerson galan Well, Frozen's getting a sequel film and Big Hero 6 is getting a sequel TV series. I think a Zootopia 2 is fair game...at least I hope so (I REALLY want a sequel!).
+Whovian Roxas I really doubt it, as Zootopia has nowhere near the phenominal popularity of Frozen nor the marketing potential of Big Hero 6. Disney is still traumatized by the sequel-dvd bonanza that they will never do a sequel to an animated movie again unless they are REALLY sure it will pay off.
Striker345ify I don't know. Money talks, as they say, and I personally think a Zootopia sequel is a fair possibility considering the amount of money the movie's already earned, the amount of box office records it's broken, and the amount of critical acclaim it's received.
I would kill my family for a slower, in-depth, quality sequel. Or better, a return to the original dystopian concept. Why make movies for kids? They don't have money to spend. Half them watch Game of Thrones and god knows whatelse now anyways so c'mon Disney go HBO om this thing! Dystopian reality with tons of graphic sex and violence. Dooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiit!
when they say "you perverts!" it's like a defense mechanism because he seen way to much "fan-art" on the internet but personally a huge success of the movie is how it appealed both to furries and non-furries alike i don't get all the hate towards furries though
Political corruption, drug use, and racism weren't hard to portray to kids in the first movie? Unconventional relationships and adoption are a walk in the park after all that.
listen byron had confessed that he is gay, and i find it to be the reason of why he ships them as well as rich does, that thing that has between nick and judy is almost the same as men and women live up in a very different way of life while entering in relationships, think about it, instead of man with woman, there´s man with man and woman with woman and people who are not like them find it so discusting and nature-against action, so he would it a beautiful story if he and rich manage to do it, nick and judy fighting for their rights with each other alongside with some animals who are on their same boat just like byron said on his tweet that interspecies couples exist in zootopia and in the world but the society does not accept it yet.
So, Nick/Judy hybrid babies... here they entertain the idea, even if it's in jest, but I think one of the directors had stated in a tweet since that hybrids are "probably" (remember that part) not possible. THis is why Word of God can't be used as justification: that Word can change its mind at will unless a film explicitly states this. Another key example of why Word of God is unreliable is in the Star Wars films. The reason I told you to remember the "probably" part is because it makes the statement a noncommittal one. It's not a yes, but it's not an outright no either. I'm guessing it wil all depend on the story: if it needs hybrids, they'll justify it. If not, it won't even get mentioned.
I think it would have made more sense if they said the carnivores ate birds. I mean it's not like there are any sentient avian species in Zootopia, so maybe they eat chickens or something
I am so torn. A part of me is all up and ready for that ship to be canon, but another part is interested and ready to watch a movie where a pair of characters with natural chemistry don't become a couple. And they would not lose any of their chemistry. I want to see that in a Disney film. But then...fucking Wilde Hopps.
What about fully aquatic mammals, like whales, porpoises, dolphins, and manatees? You don't see any of those in the movie or any near fully aquatic ones, such as seals, sea lions, and walruses. In fact, minus those kinds, primates (which he did mention), and bats, the only mammals in the movie are placental. Meaning, there are no monotremes or marsupials. I didn't see any platypuses or echidnas, kangaroos or possums, or any other mammal that either lays eggs or has a pouch.
I think it would be really cool if inter-species couples had to adopt, rather than Byron and Rich making Judy and Nick's potential "funny boxes" halfbreeds. There weren't any in the movie, which brings up the question of "why," if Zootopia is such an open-minded city in that sense? It would also quickly make their kid a special snowflake, to be the only halfbreed... or bring up inconsistencies if Zootopia is suddenly flooded with mixed animals... in addition to making them less relatable, since there aren't any halfbreed humans. Plus, I don't know of many next generation/sequels where the protagonist is the adopted spawn of the previous main characters, and I think it would be cool and relatable to real life adopted children in a modern setting movie such as Zootopia. Also, that the whole movie wouldn't be about them being adopted-- so it's a detail rather than a plot. Idk.
I had asked that same question myself some time ago (perhaps around the same time you had first posted this), wondering what religion would look like in such a world. To answer your question, my guess would be a sheep/lamb, as the books of John and Revelation allude to him being the "Lamb of God."
When people are against the thought of hybrids being possible in the universe, I always think that since Zootopia's universe reflects human society certain things would exist there too. Ergo certain people, like Attila the Hun WOULD have a parallel here. So, it would make PERFECT sense for Dogs to exist as well as other hybrids. Even ones that are mythical, like jackalopes. *Think native Jackrabbits being invaded by antelope colonists* Also, Cats would reside mainly in an Egyptian parallel. *All hail Pharaoh Felionip!* Plus wouldn't be the first time disney did hybrids in their content. I also picture some equivalent to cannibalistic tribes, and tendencies. Maybe even ones that compensate the families of the ones they consume post death, like a more intensive organ donation program. *I'll pay you X dollars for your left kidney! Or the rights to your body after death* Where they donate the good organs to other animals for medical purposes, while the remainder... Gets sold as meat for predators. And the uneatable parts get buried/cremated. Whereupon the family of the deceased get a huge take in the money made from selling said meat.
uuuuugh I hope i'm not the only one who really really doesn't want nick and judy romance to be a thing if there is a sequel. just once, just ONCE i want a male female duo to be able to be friends and still have a meaningful relationship, because if i have to sit through another movie where they constantly stop the plot to add pointless relationship drama into every other scene i'm going to...well i don't know, i'm going to do nothing probably, i'm just going to be very upset. It's possible to have a compelling plot and characters without getting romance involved. Also It seems like most of the time when there is a romantic subplot it ends up hogging most of the movie's (and the fans) attention :/
+Aceisawesome Definitely, and it's already confirmed Nick's mother is waiting for him to have kids... twitter.com/_rich_moore/status/715044439589273600?lang=en

"I'm shipping X and Y! - *sends 3:14" Ugh, 3:14 sounds like some Bible quote of sorts. Like "It says Adam and Eve, not Adam or Eve, so I did them both" The point is, I'm not a big fan of neither furry nor shipping, but I'm not a hater as well. I just really think that them having a real caring friendship without shipping would be oh so more wonderful.

OMG 90 minutes in an H&R Block, that would be easier, these guys are geniuses! But yeah, the inter-species thing is kind of difficult to work out. Shrek solved it in a rather humorous way by making Donkey's kids have dragon parts and abilities, but Disney never seems to get genetics right. In Lady and The Tramp, while the mix of Lady and Tramp should've been mixed colors, some of the babies looked like Lady, the other looked like Tramp. And that's for a single species of canids famous for cross breeding into mutts. It is known that canid hybrids do exist between wolves, coyotes, jackals, and dogs, but foxes and dogs can't breed. Needless to say, a bunny-fox hybrid would be impossible in real life, but hey, these guys can do whatever they want with this movie... as long as Disney approves. I wouldn't be surprised if they solved it the same way Lady and The Tramp did: the babies are split between foxes and bunnies. Hybrids do not exist in Zootopia, and this just makes everything easier plot-wise and character-design-wise.
Wrong. Fish are indeed sentient. And why does the interviewer make it sound like it's bad that all the romantic relationships are between the same species?
TBH, I don't think a child that Judy and Nick have would last very long. Due to the possible deformities and health issues, they wouldn't have a very good life. :/
Many korean fans said Nick & Judy should have a marriage. And now it could be the real. I love it.
My god It's great! Thanks!
