There is a documentary called London's Burning - Duty Log available on here i think...Glen Murphy who played George did try to get the part for the movie but he didn't get the part.. then he was working on another film at the same time the film was made they shared movie locations as the two films they shared the same dining bus/local pubs etc. Then after that he was offered for the part of George in the series. There you go a little fun fact for you
The series had long previously jumped the shark and suffered a massive drop in quality before its end. The show's budget, quality of the writing, the characters, the shouts/rescues and general action and the special effects had all nose dived off a cliff, and it's final season (season 14) was incredibly bad.
This is the only sad thing about good TV shows when they get a change of producers and other ways of doing things such as CGI just the small things can ruin an awesome show exactly what happened to London burning
George was the most credited shame he was not in the pilot film in 1986

George, radio control, major incident procedure
George has been on London’s Burning since the start
legend
Second 14 was shite and not much fires in it no wonder it got cancelled from the very start was way better 80s and 90s was the best
Series 1-9 were the best. Then new producers, CGI effects and forgettable characters

And you could tell how the uniforms/ the Fire appliances changed through the years
