    i give the cast and crew massive credit for these scenes, it must have cost a lot of money with all these explosions, George certainly got lucky as Jaffa took his place

    The pump that was blown up was one that was stripped down completely, I was there helping to strip it down at Blues and two's in Hampshire.

    This did occur for real in London and a cylinder did KO someone but didn’t blow up a Pump. Burning took the incidents to a more sensational level.
    I doubt anything would get made like this now with all the elf and safety.

    They couldn't film this in London London due to Intense Ariel Activity : Civilian and Military aircraft flying above so what was the alternative....... WELL they chose the former RAF RECRUIT TRAINING BASE AT RAF SWINDERBY IN LINCOLNSHIRE... AKA BOMBER COUNTY. Now I'm a 100% GENUINE YELLOW BELLY ( RESIDENT OF LINCOLNSHIRE ALL MY LIFE 1961 TO PRESENT), we are ferociously proud of our heritage and history of the RAF both fighter jets and... And heavy bomber aircraft... Vulcan nuclear bomber, Lancaster bomber, Victor and valiant bomber and more super sonic jets than you can possibly fathom, English electric lightning, tornadoes, and so on. If any of these was hit by any of those gas cylinders just casually en route to say RAF WADDINGTON the catastrophic explosion would wipe out a damning huge chunk of Lincolnshire and more depending on what it was carrying in its bomb bay!!!!, so it's that classic North V South epic battle yet again... ps on a lighter note some of the production crew stayed at my local during filming and what a fine and funny bunch they were to, it's a shame it ended because it was an incredibly popular drama but I guess it's all down to money unfortunately that killed it off

      Absolution on. This was the Aimans married quarter patch at RAF swinderby. Did my basic there in the early 80s. Loved the area so much, I still live there. Sadly, not very much left there now but it is a thriving housing estate.
      Those houses sold for about 30k. Well built and maintained!

    Very entertaining but massively unrealistic. Never once did they put water directly on or anywhere near the gas bottles. In reality, they'd constantly and absolutely drench all the gas bottles with water to continuously protect them from the heat of the fire and keep them cool to prevent them from continuing to explode.

      Not so, this happened with a family owned business back in 2002 after it was a victim of arson. They chose to evacuate the surrounding area and shut the motorway next to it until they believed it was safe to go in, it was on the local news channels that night. Fortunately there were no explosions as the over-pressure relief valves did their jobs.

    • @animeaction1911
      @animeaction1911 4 месяца назад

      That's partly to do with the production method, as due to how the fires were made, they can't actually put water on them otherwise they'd instantly go out, there was a behind the scenes making of documentary about the show which was released with it's 4th season I think, which talked all about this. I'm relatively sure it's on RUclips at the moment.
      Not to say you're wrong about how the situation might be handled. Although my assumption of the situation is that it's far too out of control for them to get nearer and so are trying to control it the best they can from a distance, since they do proceed nearer as the number of bottles lessens

      From what i can recall and it was a LONG time ago, i'm only going off what I saw on the TV. The canister had its value knocked off so leaking the gas. The guy on motorbike kicked started it maybe that was suppose to be spark that ignited the gas. That was my humble take on how it started.

      @@INCDZONE A backfire generally requires a hot exhaust though like the OP said, maybe it was hot already from earlier use. I’m not too familiar with bikes either but I do have a passing familiarity with 2 stroke engines from past experience working with tools which use them and on occasion having to fix them, they are quite prone to fuel leakage into the exhaust because of the way the single piston design works. It’s still a long shot in the dark for it to ignite a propane leak like that but what the hell, it’s a television show where the worst case scenario always happens.
